MEASURINGAll horses competing in height classes must be measured prior to competing.
Exhibitors must produce their registration papers at the time of measuring to prove identity of the horse.

STABLINGAll horses must be stabled. Exhibits must not be tied to oats.
Exhibitors are required to book and pay for stabling at the time of entry.It is a requirement that you advise the date/s you require stabling on the form provided and lodge with
your entry form/s.Should the number of bookings exceed the available stables, preference will be given to interstate and
far distant exhibitors.Stabling (including bedding) fees are as follows:

Transfers will be made at the discretion of theSociety in height classes.No transfer will be made if an exhibitor hasentered the incorrect class.
REFUNDSNo refund of entry fees, stabling fees or lockerfees will be made after an exhibitor has beennotied of the acceptance of their horse.Fees for which a nomination is made and theentry not accepted shall be refunded MINUS A$20 Administration Fee.

Champions will be selected from rst prizewinners and Reserve Champions from remainingrst prize winners and the second prize winner inthe class that supplied the Champion.The Society makes every endeavour to ensureall prizes listed are accurate at the time ofprinting. Should a prize (cash, voucher, product,trophy) be withdrawn by a sponsor subsequentto printing, the Society will pay the prizemoneyas stated above. It is the responsibility of the
prize winner to follow-up with the Society anysponsored prize (cash, voucher, product, trophy)they believe they are entitled to prior to 23December in the same year. The Society willnot follow-up prize sponsors after this date orreview any prizes that may have been incorrectlyawarded.
PRIZE MONEY AND GST
Prize money as stated in the Prize Schedule doesnot include GST.The prize money which we pay to successfulexhibitors depends on information provided tous. If you conrm that you are GST registeredand provide your Australian Business Number(ABN), we will pay the appropriate prize moneyplus 10% GST. We will provide you with aRecipient Created Tax Invoice which you willneed to submit to the Australian Taxation Ofce.In entering the competition, you acknowledgeyour agreement to the following: You will not issue a tax invoice to the
RA&HS in respect to prize money received You will notify the RA&HS if you cease to be
registered for GST.If you provide your Australian Business Numberbut are not registered for GST, we will pay theprize money as detailed in the Prize Schedulewithout reference to the GST.If you conrm you are entering as part of aprivate recreational pursuit or hobby, we will paythe prize money as detailed in the Prize Schedulewithout reference to GST.
IMPORTANT
It is important that you either: Conrm you are entering as part of a private
recreational pursuit or hobby, or Conrm you are entering as a GST registered
business and supply your ABNFailure to do either of the above will cause theRA&HS to withhold 48.5% of your prize moneyin accordance with Australian tax legislation.
The RA&HS is not a tax consultant and therefore
assumes no liability for actions taken as a resultof these guidelines. In any instances wherean entrant or sponsor is uncertain of the taximplications of their involvement, they shouldconsult their own accountant or tax advisor.

PAYMENT OF PRIZE MONEY
It is the preference of the RA&HS that any prizemoney won during the Royal Adelaide Showis paid by Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT). TheExhibitor should provide the BSB, AccountNumber and Account Name on the space
provided on the entry form. Amounts of $15or under will only be paid by this method.Exhibitors not requesting payment by EFTfor amounts greater than $15 will be paid bycheque.PLEASE NOTE THAT CHEQUES WILL BE MADEOUT IN THE NAME OF THE EXHIBITOR. IFYOU DO NOT HAVE AN ACCOUNT IN THENAME YOU HAVE ENTERED UNDER, YOUWILL NEED TO BE PAID VIA EFT.
To assist the Society, would you please ensurecheques are deposited promptly into a bankaccount. Replacement prize cheques will beissued up to 30 June 2013, however a fee of $10may be charged. If the cheque to be replacedis not returned then an additional fee will becharged to cover the cost of cancellation. Anyconcerns regarding prize money must be raisedwith the Society by 30 June.It is a term and condition of the payment of anyprize by RA&HS that any cheque issued andprovided in payment of a prize must be presentedby the payee for payment within fteen (15)months of the date upon which the cheque isissued otherwise the cheque shall become staleand of no value and the prize shall be deemedto have been forfeited by the payee and RA&HSshall no longer be liable to pay the prize.
WITHDRAWALS
All withdrawals must be made in writing and can
be sent via email to:[email protected] or faxed to(08) 8212 1533.Emailed withdrawals must include Withdrawalin the subject line and the section (eg HorseSection), exhibitor name, class number,exhibit number (if known) and exhibit name (ifapplicable).No refund of fees will be made after an exhibitorhas been notied of the acceptance of theirhorse.
A $20 Administration Fee will be levied onwithdrawals made before notication ofacceptance.
PENALTY FOR NON EXHIBITION OF ANIMALS
Following advice from the Society of acceptanceof their nomination/s, any exhibitor whoseexhibit becomes unable to compete for anyreason must notify the Society in writing priorto the advertised starting time of the class/
es entered, that their exhibit/s are unable tocompete. Exhibitors who fail to scratch prior tothe advertised starting time of the class/es enteredmay be ned $50 for each exhibit not scratchedand may be disqualied from competing at futureevents held by the RA&HS of SA Inc.
REGISTRATION
Entries will not be accepted if exhibitors areunnancial with the relevant breed society/association at the time of entry.All horses entered (except those entered inGalloway classes), must be registered with therelevant breed society/association at the time ofentry.All entry information will be forwarded tobreed society/ies and/or association/s forverication that the information provided iscorrect. Exhibits and/or exhibitors who do notmeet the registration and/or membership criteriaof the breed society/association will be ineligible
for competition and no refund of fees will bepayable.
Registration certicates (or copies) are notrequired at the time of entry.
Proof of registration of entires, mares andgeldings registered with overseas societies, mustbe produced for checking at time of lodging
entries.
AGE OF EXHIBITS
All exhibits in this section must be over one yearold and have been born before 1 August 2013.The age of all horses will be calculated as from1 August. A horse foaled before 1 August in anyyear, will be considered one year old on thatdate.
OWNERSHIP
All exhibits must be the bona de property of theexhibitor or held by the exhibitor under a writtenand recorded lease at the time of entry.All exhibits must be nominated in the name ofthe registered owner or lessee.

MARES
Unless otherwise stated, mare classes are open todry mares or in foal or with foal at foot.All brood mares must be in foal or with foal atfoot. A positive pregnancy test certicate mustbe produced for all mares in foal. This certicateshould, if possible, be produced at the time ofentry.The original certicate must be produced to thestewards on judging day if requested.Mares can be nominated in both dry and in-foalclasses but can only compete in one.
CONTROL OF EXHIBITS
During judging and while being led or ridden,all exhibits must be under proper control by a
competent handler and with proper leading gear.Please refer to individual breed society/association rules and regulations in regard towhips.
ATTIRE
Suggested attire - exhibitors and/or handlers(male and female)Long trousers/skirt, long sleeved shirt with collarand tie, waist coat or vest and/or jacket, felt hator cap, footwear that is appropriate and safe for
the condition of the arena.ENTRIES
In all breeds, unless six or more horses areentered, the breed section will be cancelled.In each class, unless 3 or more horses areentered, the Society will cancel or merge classes.
TIMETABLE
A timetable of all classes and events isenclosed. In 2014, classes will not beprogrammed individually. Each breed willcommence judging at the advertised time withclasses being judged in the order in which theyappear in the Prize Schedule.All exhibitors are required to be ready for theirclass - judging will not be suspended if exhibitorsare not present at the time of judging.The Committee reserves the right to substitute,vary the time of, alter or abandon any event inprogramme.Classes will be framed wherever practicable to
avoid judging two classes concurrently in whichone exhibitor may be entered but due to the oftenhigh number of horses with multiple registrations,it is impossible to satisfy everyone.
In the event you do have a clash, please notifythe stewards in each ring at least 10 minutes priorto the start of each class and every reasonableattempt will be made to accommodate you onthe day.The Society accepts no responsibility if the
judging time happens to conict with one ormore classes or events.
ALLOCATION OF STALLS/LOCKERS
For price information on stalls and lockers, pleaserefer to the inside front cover.THE ONUS IS ON THE EXHIBITOR TO ENSURESTALLS AND LOCKERS ARE BOOKED FOR THECORRECT DAYS.A limited number of stalls and lockers are
available on the Showground.The Society will, subject to availability, allocatestalls and lockers.Depending on entries received local horses maynot get a stall.The Society reserves the right to alter thisallocation at any time should such action beconsidered necessary, and may allocate anotherstall or locker to the exhibitor.Applications for stalls and lockers must be lodgedat time of entry.Exhibitors with less than ve horses may applyfor one locker only.Exhibitors with less than four horses will not beallotted a large locker.These fees will apply whether locker is shared ornot.Should the number of applications receivedexceed the number of lockers which areavailable, the Society will require exhibitorswith one horse to share a locker with another
exhibitor.Requests received after closing date of entrieswill not be considered.
HORSE STALLS
For price information on stalls and lockers, pleaserefer to page 2.THE ONUS IS ON THE EXHIBITOR TO ENSURESTALLS AND LOCKERS ARE BOOKED FOR THECORRECT DAYS.Any stall which has been allocated, but is notoccupied by that horse will be re-allocated.Whilst the Society will consider stablingrequests, no guarantee is made that they will bemet.

MEASURING
All horses, galloways and ponies entered in aclass with a height restriction, whether it be anupper or lower limit, must be measured by themeasuring steward before competing.Exhibitors must produce their registration papers,which must be checked to belong to the horsepresented, before a measurement can be taken.All horses, galloways and ponies will bemeasured at the highest point of the wither.The poll shall not be lower than the highest pointof the wither at the time of measurement.An allowance of 10 mm for shoes will beobserved. Should an exhibit be measured withshoes on, and the exhibitor disagrees with themeasuring steward, the exhibitor may have the
animal re-measured without shoes.The measuring steward may request the removalof shoes from any horse, prior to measurement.Any exhibit having passed the measuring stewardfor its class shall not be eligible for a class of adifferent height.The onus is on the competitor to advise theArena Co-ordinator if a horse is transferred to aclass of a different height. Failure to do so willpreclude entry into that class.
The Society may refuse to measure any horsepresented for measuring if in its opinion thehorse is not in a t and proper condition to bemeasured or if in its opinion any circumstancesexist which are likely to lead to the horse beingincorrectly measured. The Society shall not berequired to give any reason for the exercise of thediscretion hereby conferred.The Committee reserves the right to re-measurehorses at any time during the Royal Show.

NUMBERS
In all classes competitors must wear adistinguishing number supplied by the Societycorresponding to the number in the programme.Numbers for the full period of the event will beavailable for collection at the Roundhouse.
These numbers shall be retained by thecompetitor. If a competitor loses a number duringthe Show it will be replaced at a cost of $5.
ELIGIBILITY
Substitution of any horse will not be permittedin any event.
JUDGING
The Society reserves the right to substitute aJudge when deemed necessary.Persons other than the handler, judges, stewardsand Society staff are not permitted in the ring.Horses must not enter the ring unless called bythe stewards.Any animal which in the opinion of the stewardsis considered dangerous, will be removed fromthe ring.The competing horses name must not appear onthe forehead band.
CHAMPIONSHIPS
Entries eligible for Supreme Champion,Champion and Reserve Champion awards mustbe presented to the judge unless exemption hasbeen granted by the Committee.Entries which are not presented will forfeit theaward and prize money in the class in whichthey gained championship eligibility.Entries eligible for Supreme Champion,Champion and Reserve Champion awards mustcompete under the same criteria under whichthey became eligible.Winners of novice classes are not eligible forchampionship awards.Supreme Championships will not be awardedunless two or more Champions are selected fromthe breed.

PROTESTS
Protests against awards must be lodged in writingwith the Chief Executive within thirty (30)minutes of the ofcial announcement of resultsof a class.Protests in all cases must be accompanied by adeposit of $50 at time of lodging. The deposit willbe forfeited to the Society should the protest bedeemed frivolous.
OFFENCES
1. Any person who:(a) provides the Society with false
information relating to their qualicationsto compete or the qualications of theirchild under 18 years of age to compete;
(b) provides the Society with falseinformation relating to an exhibit;(c) misrepresents the identity of an exhibit;(d) does any act or thing which is intended
to or is likely to result in an exhibit beingincorrectly identied;
(e) does any act or thing which is intendedto or is likely to result in an exhibit beingincorrectly measured;
(f) presents an exhibit for measuringwhen that exhibit has had any drugadministered to it;
(g) commits an act of cruelty to an exhibit;or
(h) commits any breach of these regulationsshall be guilty of an offence.
2. A Sub-committee of three members of theSocietys Horse Committee, which membersare neither exhibitors nor competitors in theHorses-in-Action Section, shall have powerto investigate offences and impose penalties
including the following:(a) disqualication of a competitor from this
years Show and/or future Shows, andforfeiture of any prizes;
(b) disqualication of an exhibit fromthis years Show and future Shows andforfeiture of any prizes; and
(c) any combination of the above.3. Any person guilty of an offence will be
reported to the Equestrian Federation of
Australia (SA Branch), other Royal ShowSocieties and the Show Horse Council ofAustralasia.
4. This part of the Special Regulations shall notderogate from the other parts of the SpecialRegulations.
TRANSFER OF PENALTIES
This Society reserves the right to refuse entriesfrom exhibitors who are under suspension byanother Society.1. The Society may in its absolute discretion:
(a) convey to any body any informationconcerning any ne, disqualication,withdrawal of a prize or ribbon,handicap, reprimand, warning or anyother form of punishment (penalty)imposed by the Council on or inconnection with any exhibitor or exhibit;
(b) convey to any body any informationconcerning any investigation, inquiryor hearing (proceeding) conductedby the Council, whether or not the
proceeding was or has been nalised andnotwithstanding that the proceeding didnot result in the imposition of any penaltyon any person or exhibit;
(c) recognise, act upon and enforce anypenalty imposed upon any exhibitor orexhibit at any time by any body;
(d) itself conduct such further proceeding inconnection with any matter concerningany exhibitor or exhibit, or any person
seeking to become an exhibitor or toenter any exhibit, and impose a penaltyin relation thereto notwithstanding that apenalty may have already been imposedby that other body;
(e) enter in reciprocal arrangements withany body in relation to any of the mattersreferred to in (a) to (e) above.
2. For the purpose of (1.) body includes anyother society, organisation or body withinor outside Australia having similar objectsto those of the Society and in particularincludes:(a) RASV Limited;(b) The Royal Agricultural Society of Victoria
Inc.;(c) The Royal Agricultural Society of New
South Wales;(d) The Royal National Agricultural and
Industrial Association of Queensland;(e) The Royal National Capital Agricultural
Society;

(f) The Royal Agricultural Society ofTasmania;
(g) The Royal National Agricultural andPastoral Society of Tasmania;

(i) any breed association or societyrecognised as such by the Society.
VETERINARY SURGEON
Judges and RA&HS ofcials may call on theSocietys Veterinary Surgeon in respect toestablishing the soundness of any exhibit.
VETERINARY SERVICE
1. The Society will appoint a VeterinarySurgeon to provide a service to exhibitors.
2. Should a horse become ill or suffer aninjury then the Societys Veterinary Surgeonmay attend to and treat such animal in theabsence of any authority from the owner,and the Society or its Veterinary Surgeonshall not be liable in any way for loss arisingout of such treatment.
3. Exhibitors may employ a veterinary surgeonother than the Societys, but in any suchinstance must inform the Society of the stock
concerned.4. The Societys Veterinary Surgeon may refuse
to attend an animal previously examinedand treated by another Veterinary Surgeon.
5. Unless otherwise specically stated, onlythe Societys Veterinary Surgeon may givecerticates required by the Society.
6. All costs incurred in the attendanceand treatment of an animal shall be theresponsibility of the exhibitor.
INJURY, DISEASEIf in the opinion of the Societys VeterinarySurgeon a horse on the Showground shall beso injured or be so affected by sickness, diseaseor other ailment as to warrant its destruction orits removal from the Showground, as the casemay be, the Society shall be entitled to havethe horse destroyed and/or removed from theShowground and/or shall be entitled to requirethe owner to forthwith remove the horse from
the Showground. Any expense incurred by theSociety in respect of such horse shall be debitedto the owner.Animals entered for competition must not havebeen exposed to any communicable/notiabledisease/s at least 14 days prior to 1 March 2013.
SWABBING
The Committee may make or cause to be made,any test of any exhibit at any time before, duringor after competition.
DRUGS
1. It is the intention of the Society that allanimals shall perform on their meritswithout the aid of drugs or substances whichmay affect their conduct, performance orappearance.
2. (a) Exhibitors shall not administer andshall ensure that there shall not beadministered to their exhibit/s anyprohibited drug
(b) Prohibited drug means any substance
originating externally (whether or not itis endogenous to the animal) which iscapable of - affecting the performanceor behaviour of an animal by its actionupon the central or peripheral nervoussystem, the cardio- vascular system,the respiratory system, the alimentarydigestive system, the musculoskeletalsystem or the urogenital system, andincludes analgesics, antihistamines, anti-
inammatory agents, blood coagulants,diuretics, hormones and their syntheticcounterparts, corticosteroids, anabolicsteroids, local anaesthetics, musclerelaxants, tranquillisers and vitaminsadministered by injection, but doesnot include antibiotic substances anti-viral, antimicrobial, anti- parasitic) withthe exception of Procaine Penicillin,provided that sub-regulation 3 iscomplied with.
3. (a) The Society may at its discretion causean examination to be made of an exhibitby a veterinary surgeon, who in thecourse of such examination may make,by such methods as he may determine,such tests of and take such samples fromsuch exhibit as he deems necessary oradvisable. The result of such examinationshall be reported to the Society.
(b) An exhibit to which, in the opinion of a
veterinary surgeon, a prohibited drug hasbeen administered shall not be exhibitedwithout the consent of the Society andshall be removed from the Showgroundforthwith upon notice from the Society.

(c) An examination may include anexamination for desensitised limbs. Anyanimal found to have a limb or part of alimb desensitised will be considered tohave had a prohibited drug administered
to it.(d) The owner or their representative maybe present during testing, but shall notinterfere in any way with the conduct ofa test, and will observe the instructions ofthe veterinary surgeon on duty.
RIBBONS
Only ribbons awarded during the current Showwill be permitted on exhibits.
EQUIPMENT
Spurs and whips -On the at, all spurs other than dummy spursare prohibited. Dummy spurs - spurs must be ofsmooth metal, shank pointing only towards therear. Shank end must be blunt for the preventionof injury to horses.If the shank is curved, spurs must only be wornwith shank directed downwards. Spur shankNOT to exceed 30 mm in length.Helmets -
All riders must wear protective headgear tothe current Australian, European or AmericanStandard. No other head gear will be permitted.The onus is on the riders to comply with the rulesregarding helmets, and their insurance may berendered void in the event of an accident/injury,if they are found to have been using a non-compliant helmet.It is the recommendation of the RA&HS thatinspections of helmets are conducted by
competitors/owners on a regular basis to ensurecompliance with the rules.The RA&HS recommends that riders replace theirhelmets after moderate to severe blows.
DOGS AND BIKES NOT ALLOWED
Dogs, bikes, scooters and skateboards will not bepermitted in the Horse area. This regulation willbe strictly enforced.
CORRECT ATTIRE
It is compulsory for anyone riding a horseanywhere on the Showground including practiceand schooling arenas to wear protective headgearapproved under the current Australian, Europeanor American Standard.
Riders taking part in any competition must becorrectly attired in accordance with the classconditions
FODDER
Exhibitors must arrange their own fodderrequirements.
CARE OF STALLS/LOCKERS
Numbers or any other identication markswhich may have been placed on or in a stall
or box by the Society, whether by placard,painting, posting or any other means, must notbe removed, disgured or altered in any way,nor shall any other notice, number or mark beplaced in or upon any stall or box other thanby the order of the Society. Screens, rugs or anyother obstruction which may obscure the interiorof the stall to the public must not be used duringdaylight hours.Stalls shall be used only by animals entered for
competition and for the purpose for which theyhave been allocated to the exhibitor.The consumption of intoxicating liquor on theMain Arena, in stalls, lockers and adjacent areasis forbidden.The observance of the above regulations will bethe responsibility of the exhibitor.Infringement of these regulations will result in thecancellation of the stall or locker in question.

STALL CLEANING
Exhibitors will, to the satisfaction of the Society:1. Keep each stall allotted to them and their
animals in a clean and proper condition.2. Clean out their stalls regularly. Refuse must
be deposited in manure bins provided.3. Manure must not be deposited in alleyways
or general purpose rubbish bins.4. General purpose rubbish must not be
deposited in manure bins.
CONTAINERS AND HOSES
Exhibitors are requested to supply their own feedand water containers and length of hose with 1(25 mm) ttings to use at the wash down.
FIRE PRECAUTIONS
