1. Day One Beach Hopping

Start your trip by going on a beachhopping expedition on day one. By far, the quirkiest one of them all, Arambol is knownas a hippie's haven. A large number of performers make it all the more endearing. Leave this one for the last, in the eveningsor late afternoon. The place is best visited at this time. Below is a list of the other beaches that you should not miss out on.Given the number of them, and the unique characteristic of each shore, it will quite easily take the whole day to traverse them.

An introduction into how it looks like:

The best among the many Goan beaches:

Anjuna Beach: Arguably the most visited beach in Goa with a picturesque coconut grove in the backdrop and afamous flea market in the vicinity. Palolem Beach: This is a very serene beach, quite contrary to the colorful and vibrant Calangute. A must see for atouch of solitude and peace. Colva Beach: This little patch of paradise brings about the very best of coastal beauty challenged in the Goan land byperhaps only the Calangute. Pride of Salcete, this is a must see locale. Calangute and Baga Beach: The Calangute is known as the Queen of all Goan beaches. If you are talking aboutmustsee, this place comes first. These beaches were the favorite haunt of hippies even a few years ago. A governmentcrackdown as stopped the trance flow but you can still feel the rhythm flowing sometimes.

Post the beach hopping, end the day with a dinner experiencing the exquisite taste of local Goan flavors at Zeebop by theSea. The restaurant is perhaps the best offtheshore type shack restaurant overlooking the sea in Goa and offers a wide rangeof options when it comes to rocking your palette. The place has a very friendly crowd which comprises of both the locals aswell as the tourists. The service is standard and the food is made from fresh catches from the sea everyday.

A diner's review:

This restaurant was recommended by our guide book, and was only a few yards along the beach from our hotel.Once we were seated with a drink (best Pina Coladas we had all week) they brought over the fresh catches of theday to show us...and they were all huge! They suggested lots of different ways of cooking them, to make us astarter out of Tiger Prawns and a main course with the Lobster. It was so good we went back again, spending 2of our 4 nights eating there! The second time was equally as impressive. It was definitely the best seafood meal Ihave ever had.

2. Day Two Exploring Old Goa

One day two, we will go exploring Old Goa and take in the remnants of the colonial times. Start off with a visit toFontainhas the old Portuguese neighborhood in Goa. They're bright, colourful, quiet, peaceful and most of all, retain it's oldworld charm. Essentially this is where you'll get a feel of Goa's colonial past. Fontainhas is a must stop for any offbeat localelover and the fact that is conveniently tucked away in Panjim makes it even more doable.

Next stop is Keri a village in Goa known for its Ayurveda. Located about 8 kms from the centre of Ponda, it makes for anice experience to explore this village. Away from the hustle bustle of the city, the typical Goan rural architecture is worthlooking out for. The scenic natural surroundings adds to the charm.

Here's more:

Keri village is popular for all the natural and holistic ways of treatment that India is famous for. Very old andexperienced ayurvedic doctors, known in local language as Vaids, run their practice here. The village looksbeautiful, healthy, and clean, and demonstrates Indian simple living close to nature. Keri Village is worth visitingplace for people who are interested in getting ayurvedic treatments or knowing natures secret.

For the later half of the day, start from Se Cathedral and go on a religious and cultural trail, to many monasteries, cathedrals, monuments, nunneries like the legendary Nunnery of Santa Monica (the only nunnery in Goa, built on the likes of afortress), Ruins of Church of St. Augustine and the many shrines that pop up at every nook and corner a backpacker's

dream come true.

For dinner, we go to a special place. Established in 1932, situated right on the sea, and with excellent food ensuring the placeis always full, Souza Lobo's is a mustvisit on Calangute beach. It has been serving some great fresh seafood in Goa for thepast 78 years and is preferred by locals, tourists and celebrities alike.

A review:

The Goan masala fried prawns are exactly as they should be with authentic red masala and fresh, perfectlydeveined prawns. Other Goan specialties include the squid amot tik (a sour curry), kingfish steak periperi (inspicy, tangy red sauce), and prawnstuffed pomfret. The restaurant also serves Westernstyle seafood with a goodgarlic butter sauce. There's live music every night.

3. Day Three Water Sports and Nightlife

Devote the last day for some fun and frolic. Go Jetskiing sure to provide you an exhilarating experience. The best time togo for this adventure sport is from September to March, and your timing could not be better.

As with most tourist resorts there are plenty of beach activies to get involved in Jet Skiing (my favourite),paragliding. The most popular place to go with Indian tourists seemed to be on Sinquerim beach in front of FortAguada, which always seemed busy.

Jet Ski (Source: Leonardo Rosa)

JetSkiing Sites : You can take up the sport in the beaches of Colva, Calangute, Candolim, Miramar, Arossim,Benaulim, Utorda, Rajbaga and Mobor.

Rates : A ride can vary between 2, 10 and 15 minutes. Usually a 2 minute trip costs $8, 10 minutes $21 and 15 minutes $32.

Here is a list of major water sport activities along with the names of organizations or centers involved.

Note:The part of beach which you use for Jetskiing must be within the operator's sight

Goa is definitely the one stop destination for all things exciting and adventurous. Colva is known mostly for its speed boatrides and jet skiing, but you can still find some decent parasailing operators in the beach.

One of the most preferred destinations for this is located at a distance of about 46 km from Colva; that is Calangute.

Rates vary from around $20 to $ 40

Though there are various water sports operators, Goan Banana Watersports (Tel.: 9822100201/ 9822100202) inCalngute and Chris Water Sports (Tel.: 09822142110) are two of the most trusted names.

Afternoon to Evening The Goan Cruises.

River as well as deepsea cruising are mustdo while in Goa. Although you will find numerous operators, the cruisesorganised by the Goa Tourism Development Corporation are the ones most recommended. GTDC has classified its cruisesinto categories such as Sundown, Sunset, Dinner and Backwater Thrills.

A daytime cruise on the Mandovi affords you an enviable view of the lush foliage in the distance and if you look realminutely, you'll be sure to spot a few lazy crocodiles desperately trying to camouflage themselves in the waters of theMandovi. The cuisine is varied with both vegetarian and non vegetarian food served on board.

The onehour sunset cruise trip is entertaining and educative as you'll see professional Goan dancers taking on thetraditional yet up tempo dance forms of Fugdi and Shigmo. The natural light will also afford you spectacular views of a fewarchitectural marvels such as Reis Magos Church, the Reis Magos Fort, the Aguada Fort and the Cabo Raj Bhavan.

A cruise costs in the range of Rs. 150 to 600 per person.

Feel your pulses racing with the mindboggling music at the exceptional beach club of GoaMambos. Enjoy your night in theopen air club which happens to be the most happening club of Goa. With the international DJs belting out their best tracks, enjoy the fusion of retro and trance music. The club is usually crowded on the weekends. Get dressed in smart casuals butavoid wearing shorts.

Here's a review

The following night we went to Mambo's for a purple night party. Here couples enter for free and the crowd herewas fantastic. The energy was amazing. DJs here were much better. We also had celebrities that I did notrecognize to add some spice
