Thursday / Jueves 9AM to 6PM
The Second Sunday of Easter was dedicated beginning in the year 2000 by Pope St. John Paul II as Divine Mercy Sunday. St. John Paul II in the canonization of St. Faustina proclaimed the devotion to the Divine Mercy of Jesus Christ to be a source of blessing to the world.
The Chaplet of Divine Mercy has been a popular and growing devotion in the Catholic Church for the past several decades. It is a powerful and humbling prayer where we seek to place our lives in the heart of our Lord Jesus Christ.
“The celebration of Divine Mercy Sunday is an opportunity to reflect on the theme of how God’s mercy can overcome sin and, as the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments states, “a perennial invitation to the Christian world to face, with confidence in divine benevo-lence, the difficulties and trials that mankind [sic] will experience in the years to come.”” (from U.S. Catholic Vol. 76, No. 5, page 46)
As a parish we have a small but dedicated group of parishioners who pray the Holy Rosary followed by the Chaplet of Divine Mercy following our daily celebration of the Eucharist. This prayer offered for the our parish commu-nity reminds us that we are all called to lift up in prayer for those around us. (Continued on page 2...)

(Pastor’s Notes Continued form page 1)
We are also reminded that this week the church looks a little different from last week. The pews are not as full, the parking is a little easier and we can begin to slip back into the routines of “normal” life. I would encourage you to not fall back into these rou-tines. We are called to be an evangelizing Church and this always starts at home. Take time to invite family, friends and neighbors to make it a practice to come and celebrate with us in this great Eucharistic feast. We are a better parish when the pews are full, the parking lot is overflowing and we are chal-lenged in our faith. Our Easter resolution should be to invite, invite and invite….
God bless, Fr. Mark

Teen Faith Formation Are you being called to serve the youth? Hello, my name is Patty Osorio and I am the Youth Minister here at St. Lucy Parish. I’m not the only youth minister. Did you know we are all called to help educate our youth and lead each and every one of them closer to Christ? I believe our youth are our most important treasure. In this community we should all share a common goal— evangelizing children and teens to be-come active, productive, and happy contributing community members. Many of our teens need individualized attention and YOU have had varied experi-ences that can help our youth. I’m in need of volunteers to help me in ways that will allow me to provide more personal assistance to the youth. Our Par-ish volunteers (Core Leaders) support our teens and our parish. My job is to help and empower YOU to evangelize the youth. If you are interested in serving as a volunteer at our parish, I would be delighted to hear from you. There are many different ways volun-teers can assist in our programs, depending on your special abilities or interests. We can discuss the volunteer program in more detail, simply contact me and I can meet you individually.
On behalf of our teens, our current volunteers and the entire Parish, I thank you for considering the joyous ministry of working with our future Church.
In Jesus’ Peace, Patty Osorio, Coordinator of Youth & Evangelization
Here’s what some of our current volunteers (Core Leaders) have to say:
“I volunteer because I love being able to watch teens grow in their faith as I once was able to experience. It is al-ways heartwarming to see the teens become close to God and learn of His love for them and everyone else.” - Gabby Verbera, age
“I help with Confirmation because I have a passion for the Truth that is found through Christ. I love helping others understand the beauty of creation and the immense importance of the part that each one of us is called to play in it.” – Jonathan Bedard, age 23
“Simply put: I love teaching about my faith.” – Mary Julio, age 22
“The reason why I come back each year to help with the Confirmation program is to share my experience of finding Jesus in my life. My goal for the teens is for them to find their encounter with Jesus and to truly experience the love He has for us all. My favorite part about being a volunteer is planning the retreats with the core team. It takes time and dedication, but we always find ways to have fun.” – Kathy McLaughlin, age 20

The Diocesan Youth Retreat (DYR) is an annual summer retreat hosted by the Diocese of San Jose. For five days teens (graduated 8th graders to graduated 12th graders) experience and encounter the love of God by means of Catholic catechesis creating lasting friendships. The goal of DYR is to gather and empower teen participants to live fully the gospel of Jesus Christ, develop their Catholic identity and instill a zeal for the New Evangelization. Attendees can look forward to Daily Mass, Eucharistic Adoration, the Sacrament of Reconciliation, daily workshops and small group dialogues to provide opportunities to encounter Christ and the beauty of the Catholic faith. Recre-ational times and activities are available throughout the day for teens to unwind and have an unforgettable time (e.g. the lake to swim, art activities, games, music, messy game, challenges, etc.)
