Dear Brothers and Sisters, As you may remember, we had a series of inspiring witness talks at Masses during Jan 30 & 31 weekend. Due to strong and positive responses, we are striving to make these witness talks a monthly events. Our brothers and sisters are thirsting and wanting this kind of personal testimonies at St Lucy. The next session will be in April 23 & 24. We need more speakers. Most speak at the Mass they regularly attend. The talk needs to be about your own faith experience. It could be about a moment that has brought you closer to God; a moment that let you feel the grace of God; a miracle that you have experienced, or how you experienced the gift of "Mercy". Today our Catholic Church celebrates Divine Mercy Sunday. Within the Jubilee Year of Mercy, this Sun-day helps us to focus on the Divine Mercy of God. We recognize clearly that all mercy finds its root in the Divine Mercy of God and the source of mercy flows through the sacramental life of the Church. We, called by Jesus Christ, are instruments of God’s mercy when we receive and offer mercy in our lives.
We hear this good news proclaimed throughout Sacred Scripture and through the tradition of our Catholic faith. “The very essence of the Gospel is in works of mercy (and the proof of this is in the very words of Christ the judge, who will admit into his eternal kingdom only those who have practiced mercy), and you,
like all those who are directly called to relieve those who are afflicted in body and spirit, are called to be the living pages of this great book of God, called therefore to show the world that the message of Jesus Christ is not one without life, but the very substance of life.” (Pope Pius XII)
This month as a parish community we focus on the Spiritual Work of Mercy: Forgive all Injuries. It may be good to re-member the words of Jesus on the Cross, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.” (Lk 23:34) We remember that we will bear the wounds but in God’s mercy we are healed and brought to new life. First Wednesday Mass & Novena to Our Mother of Perpetual Help: Everyone is invited this coming Wed., April 6, to celebrate the Novena-Mass in honor of Our Mother of Perpetual Help. The Novena-Mass is celebrated here at St. Lucy church every first Wednesday of the month at 6PM. And on other Wednesdays, the Novena to Our Mother of Perpetual Help is observed at 6:30 PM preceded by the praying of the Rosary 6PM.
The St. Lucy Altar Society will meet this Thursday, April 7 at 1pm in the Parish Activity Center.

Hoy nuestra Iglesia Católica celebra el Domingo de la Divina Misericordia. Dentro del Año Jubilar de la Misericordia, este domingo nos ayuda a enfocarnos en la Divina Misericordia de Dios. Reconoce-mos claramente que toda misericordia encuentra su raíz en la Divina Misericordia de Dios y la fuente de la misericordia fluye a través de la vida sacramental de la Iglesia. Nosotros, llamados por Jesu-cristo, somos instrumentos de la misericordia de Dios cuando recibimos y ofrecemos misericordia en
nuestras vidas.
Oímos esta buena nueva proclamada en toda la Sagrada Escritura y la tradición a través de nuestra fe católica. "La esencia misma del Evangelio se encuentra en las obras de misericordia (y la prueba de esto se encuentra en las mis-mas palabras de Cristo, el juez, que admitirá en su reino eterno sólo aquellos que han practicado la misericordia), y que, como todos los que están directamente llamados ha aliviar a los que están afligidos en cuerpo y espíritu, están llamados a ser las páginas de vida de este gran libro de Dios, llamados por lo tanto, para mostrar al mundo que el mensaje de Jesucristo no es uno sin vida, sino que la propia esencia de la vida ". Este mes como comunidad parroquial nos centramos en el trabajo Espiritual de la Misericordia: Perdonar a Todos. Pue-de ser bueno recordar las palabras de Jesús en la Cruz: "Padre, perdónalos, porque no saben lo que hacen." "TREE of NEW LIFE" - a shared discipleship Dear Community, We have entered the Easter season! In this our Jubilee Year of Mercy, today, Divine Mercy Sunday in the Octave of Easter, marks our continuing journey of spiritual conversion and New Life in Christ. Moving towards Pentecost Sunday with this new beginning, let us concentrate and focus on our second theme of the heart: "TREE of NEW LIFE" - a shared discipleship. Practicing the Corporal and Spiritual Works of mercy call us to account in using our gifts for others needs, thus strengthen our disci-pleship in Christ. As we practice these works, we contribute to a loving and merciful world thereby building God's kingdom on earth. There are seven Corporal and seven Spiritual Works of Mercy. Here is what they are and a few ideas on how we as Catholics can live them out: "Corporal Works of Mercy" - are found in the teachings of Jesus and give us a model for how we should treat others. FEED THE HUNGRY - donate to a food drive for Thanksgiving or Christmas. Donate food to our parish Outreach. GIVE DRINK TO THE THIRSTY - offer water bottles to the homeless. Donate to build wells for those in need of clean drinking water. SHELTER THE HOMELESS - volunteer time at a homeless shelter or donate blankets, toiletries, socks etc or money. VISIT THE SICK - spend time volunteering at a nursing home or hospital, visit an elderly neighbor, donate blood. VISIT THE PRISONERS - get involved in prison ministry, write a postcard to an inmate, donate educational books. BURY THE DEAD - send a card to those who have lost a loved one, visit the cemetery to pray for those you have lost. GIVE ALMS TO THE POOR - skip the latte, movie or lunch out and donate the money instead. Participate in Operation Rice Bowl. "Spiritual Works of Mercy" - guide us to help our neighbor in their spiritual needs. COUNSEL THE DOUBTFUL – accompany a friend who is struggling with believing to a parish group or faith formation. Follow Christ with the witness of your life seeing God’s love revealed in your actions. INSTRUCT THE IGNORANT - invite someone to mass this weekend. Help with religious education programs at our parish. ADMONISH THE SINNER - don't judge, but guide others towards salvation. Journey together towards a shared faith. COMFORT THE SORROWFUL - send a card to someone suffering. Give time to a person going through hardships. FORGIVE INJURIES - let go of grudges. Participate in the sacrament of penance. Pray the Divine Mercy Chaplet. BEAR WRONGS PATIENTLY - Frustrated with someone? Step away, take a few deep breaths, pray & ask for patience. PRAY FOR THE LIVING AND THE DEAD - request a mass intention for someone. In prayer entrust your cares & concerns.
During the fifty days of Easter, choose a mercy medallion with a work of mercy printed inside to practice in your daily life. Once it’s completed, post it on the "TREE of NEW LIFE" board to share with our parish. The Liturgy Planning Committee
"EL ÁRBOL DE LA NUEVA VIDA" - un discipulado compartido
Estimada Comunidad, ¡Hemos entrado la temporada de Pascua! En este nuestro Año Jubilar de la Misericordia, hoy, Domingo de la Divina Misericordia, marca nuestro camino continuo de conversión espiritual y la Nueva Vida en Cristo. Avanzando hacia el Domingo de Pentecostés con este nuevo comienzo, vamos a concentrarnos y centrarnos el segundo tema del corazón: "El ÁRBOL DEN AL NUEVA VIDA" - un discipulado compartido. Practicando las obras corporales y espirituales de la misericordia nos llaman al uso de nuestros dones para las necesidades de otros, por lo tanto fortaleciendo nuestro discipulado en Cristo. Al practicar estas obras, contribuimos a un mundo amoroso y miseri-cordioso construyendo así el reino de Dios aquí en la tierra. Hay siete obras corporales y siete obras de la misericordia espirituales. Esta es una lista de ellas con unas ideas de cómo noso-tros, como católicos, podemos vivirlas: "Las Obras Corporales de La Misericordia" - se encuentran en las enseñanzas de Jesús y nos dan un modelo de cómo debemos tratar a todos los demás. ALIMENTAR A LOS HAMBRIENTOS - dar para la colecta de alimentos para Acción de Gracias o Navidad. Dar alimentos a la Oficina de Servicios Sociales de la parroquia. DAR DE BEBER AL QUE TIENEN SED - ofrecer botellas de agua a las personas sin hogar. Dar para el apoyo en la construcción de pozos para los que necesitan agua potable. VISITAR A LOS ENFERMOS - pasar el tiempo como voluntario en un hogar de ancianos o un hospital, visitar a un vecino de edad avanzada, donar sangre. VISITAR A LOS ENCARCELADOS - involucrarse en el ministerio de prisión, escribir una postal a un encarcelado, donar libros. ENTERAR A LOS FALLECIDOS – enviar una tarjeta a aquellos que han perdido un ser querido, visitar el cementerio para rezar. DAR CARIDAD A LOS POBRES – no tomarse el café latte, no ir a una película o no comer fuera y dar el dinero en su lugar. Partici-par en la Operación Plato de Arroz. ACONSEJAR A EL DUDOSO – acompañar a un amigo que está luchando con su fe a un grupo parroquial o de formación en la fe. Seguir a Cristo con el testimonio de su vida al ver el amor de Dios revelado en sus acciones. ENSEÑAR A LOS IGNORANTES - invite a una persona a misa este fin de semana. Ayude con los programas de educación religiosa. AMONESTAR AL PECADOR - no juzgar, sino guiar a los demás hacia la salvación. Camine juntos hacia una fe compartida. DAR CONSUELO AL TRISTE - enviar una carta a alguien que sufre. Dar tiempo a una persona pasando por dificultades. PERDONAR LAS HERIDAS - dejar de lado los rencores.
