2nd Grade News

Reading- We are reading a story titled Penguin Chick which is a sweet and informational nonfiction story about how penguin chicks hatch, are taken care of and grow up to become adults and have their own chicks. We’re learning about how to read and find information from dictionaries. Also, we are studying about adjectives and how to find the main idea in a story and what details support the story’s main idea.

Math- We are wrapping up our 3-digit addition and subtraction unit. It’s short and just requires a lot of repeated practice to deepen understanding of regrouping with 3-digits. They’re getting better at this skill each day!

Science and Social Studies- We are finsihing our studies on air and weather this week! Our test is tomorrow for Science and we’re excited to dive into our learning of Solids and Liquids next week! Should be lots of fun experimenting. Be on the lookout for a note that will be sent home about Solids, Liquids and Gasses. J In S.S. we continue to learn about our 7 continents, the bodies of water and landforms. Also, we have compared and contrasted maps vs. globes.
