The Symposium sets the standard for this new subspecialty and provides a complete overview of the field.

Day 1 Thursday, September 23, 2010 offers a pre-congress post graduate course:

A PRACTICAL AND COMPREHENSIVE REVIEW OF VAGINAL SURGERY FOR THE COSMETIC VAGINAL SURGEON

A Significant number of women requesting vaginal cosmetic procedures have associated pelvic floor defects that require surgical correction. The cosmetic vaginal surgeon must be prepared to perform safe and effective functional aesthetic vaginal surgery. The course will present our current understanding of the pathophysiology, evaluation, and surgical management of pelvic floor dysfunction. Lectures and videos will be used to describe and demonstrate the surgical procedures.

Day 2 & 3 Friday, September 24, 2010 and Saturday, September 25, 2010Topics range from simple cosmetic vaginal operations to cutting-edge techniques. The symposium will critically examine the nomenclature, safety, effectiveness, complications, controversies, challenges, and innovations of this exciting new field.

COURSE OBJECTIVESAt the end of the course the attendee should be able to:

• Define the anatomical and functional supports of the pelvic floor and their interaction in maintaining urinary and fecal continence and the prevention of uterovaginal prolapse• Recognize the factors responsible for pelvic floor dysfunction• Evaluate the patient with pelvic floor defects and identify what tests are needed for the diagnosis and treatment of her condition• Identify which surgical procedures are effective and how to perform the surgery for urinary incontinence, vaginal hysterectomy, and the treatment of anterior, apical, and posterior compartment defects • Discuss the complications, side effects, and risks of the current surgical procedures for urinary and fecal incontinence and uterovaginal prolapse

• Acquire knowledge in liposuction and autologous fat transfer techniques
