ESMA was established as the sole standardization body in the UAE under the Law No. 28/2001. The board of

directors chaired by H.E. Dr. Rashid Ahmed Bin Fahad, the Minister of State in the UAE is comprising

representatives of the main parties involved in the standardization of the UAE. The board is the dominant

affairs and lay down its policy and adopting all the suitable procedures to ensure efficient performance to its

assignments.

Halal Regulations in the UAE

Emirati system for the control of Halal products-The Council of Ministers Resolution No. (10) for the year 2014

• This regulation is applied for all Halal products, including the full supply chain process of manufacturing Halal Product.

• Main Requirement is: Adoption of Halal Standard stated latterly, Quality Management System, GHP and GMP.

General regulations of the organizational procedures for National Mark of Halal (emblem) - Board Resolution No. (34) for

the year 2014

• This regulation is governing the use of Halal National Market as a marketing tool and Information Label on products.

• Organizational Requirement include: Availability of Halal Certificate and Trade License, Quality Management System and Auditing

Requirement.

• The Halal National Mark License is Valid for (3) years.

EIAC is the governmental accreditation body located in Dubai that grants accreditationto Conformity Assessment Bodies worldwide whilst adhering to international standards.The Emirates International Accreditation Center (EIAC) was established pursuant to LawNo (27) of 2015 issued by His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE, Ruler of Dubai.
