Important Mathematics and Economics Courses Microeconomics, Network Economics, Probability and Statistics, Computational Methods, Basic Structures of Mathematics, Systems Analysis and three Core Courses in Mathematics

M.Tech. Thesis Optimization of Ductility and Moment Carrying Capacity of a Reinforced Concrete Section Guide-Prof. Durgesh C. Rai The project is funded by Tata Steel (with a sponsorship of Rs 1 million).Work Developed a java program (of around 4000 lines), for analyzing the effect of 8-variables on

ductility and moment carrying capacity of R-C Section. Statistically Analyzed the data obtained by lab test and compared the result obtained by lab

test with result obtained by programExpected Output Develop a general Purpose Software to Calculate the Moment-Curvature, Strength and

Ductility of R-C Section Reduction in the cost of the earthquake resistant Structures. Lab experimentation has

estimated the net reduction in the cost to be around 20%. Improve the performance of structural member during earthquake.

Summer Intern Organization-IIT Kanpur, Guide-Prof. D. C. Rai, Department Of Civil Engineering Topic- Analyze and Design of a three storey shear wall building.Work Done- Designed a dual system (moment resisting frame and shear wall both resist thelateral force) for a building. Achievements-Decreased the total cost by around 10%, as compared to a normal shear wall building for same level of performance during the earthquake.

Key Academic Projects Project Topic Group

StrengthBrief Introduction of Project

Steady State HeatConduction and Thermal Stress Analysis of a Piston by Finite Element Method

3-Member Team

Guide-Prof. N.N. Kishore, (Mechanical Engineering Department, IIT Kanpur), April, 2008 The aim of the project was to develop a MATLAB code for calculating the temperature and stress developed in the I.C. Engine piston by using finite element methods. This code can be used for optimization of piston volume with subject to constraints on temperature and stress. In some cases cost can be reduced by 15%of net cost.

ComputerAnalysis of Structure

2-Member Team

Guide- Prof. D.C.Rai (Civil Department ,IIT Kanpur), Objectives of the project were calculating shear force, moment and axial force in different member of a structure under the gravity and earthquake loads.

Small scale Modeling of ReinforcedConcrete

3-Member Team

Guide- Prof. D.C.Rai (Civil Department ,IIT Kanpur) The main objective of the project is to analysis, design, construction and testing of a scaled model of Manhole cover. I analyzed and designed details of prototype, scaled model and expected load capacities with use of similitude laws.

Technical Arts Project

4-Member Team

Guide-Dr. Anish Upadhyay (Metallurgy and Material Sciences, IIT Kanpur) ,January-April 2006 This project involves the fusion of theoretical manufacturing processes with the practical application. Particularly I was involved in making a prototype of Sand sieve and sand mixer.

Term Papers 1. Indian Telecommunication MarketGuide-Dr. Sumit Sarkar (Department of Humanities and Social Sciences) In this term paper I studied and discussed about the strategies adopted by telecommunication players in Indian market for making our own network in the presence of some landline players. 2. Privatization of Government FirmGuide-Prof. A.k.Sinha (Department of Humanities and Social Sciences) In this term paper I studied and discussed the positive and negative effect of the privatization of government firm on the Economy and Society.

Technical Skills Computing: Experience in Programming languages like Java and COperating System: MS Windows XP/Vista, Linux. Tools: Matlab, Mathematica, MSExcel, STAAD pro and SAP

Extra-Curricular Activities Excelled in Tae-Kwando up to the yellow belt level. Actively participated in various sports and cultural events at IITK. I was also Senior Security

Officer in Antaragni-2005. Active member of Robotics club, IIT Kanpur. I participated in various events of the club and

also made a simple robot in winter'04. Actively participated in Hall-2 Games festival (UNMAAD-2005) played as a member of cricket and football team and took the team to the 2nd position in the cricket tournament.
