    Scholastic Achievements:

Secured an  All India Rank 75 , in JEE 2005, among 2,50,000 appearing students all overthe country.

Awarded a 4 year merit scholarship by Central Board of Secondary Education.

    Internship and Industry Experience:

Organisation:  Polytechnic Institute of NYU, New York City. Duration: 5 th May, 2008- 28 th July, 2008

Project:  Improving spell check on Apple's I-Phone by developing a new algorithm using geometricinformation of keyboard layout and touch points.

I-phone brings along with it, an advantage which we didn’t have with PC keyboards – We canknow the location of touch points by the user. We use this information and the fixedgeometric layout of the QWERTY keyboard to improve the spell check.

Designed a new 5 layered algorithm and implemented it for the PC-version of classicalnotepad.

Application offered a 70% improvement   in correct word suggestions and 90% reduction inwrong suggestions, when compared to MS-Office 2003 for various random user inputs.

Algorithm is expected to give 50% improvement  over I-Phone's algorithm.  Comprehensive models were designed for adding machine learning techniques and user's

    idiosyncratic behaviour.

Organisation: Moser Baer India Limited, New Delhi Duration: 10 th May, 2007 - 9th July,2007

Project: Study and suggest improvements in the working of Moser Baer network systems, backuptechnology, and quality control for CD/DVD ROM's.

Analyzed the network topology, protocols and computer network management of the plant,by visiting the whole plant and physically studying (to the extent possible) all the hardwareinvolved.

Designed an application aimed at managing inventory control and booking orders.  Learnt handling and management   of the CD-ROM plant at Moser-Baer including order

management, inventory management and quality control.

    Technical Skills:

    Languages:

Proficient in C, C++, Java and Oz.   Acquainted with C#, Verilog, Objective C and Assembly Language (IA32)  HTML, CSS, PHP, Java Script, MYSQL.

Tex, Lex, Yacc, Make, Shell Programming, ANTLR, I-Rails, Latex, Mozart, Apache, XCode.  Efficient in use of computational software and spreadsheets, excel, Matlab, common word

    processors and presentations.

     Key Academic Projects:

B.Tech Project:  Improve existing Data-Integration methods in Heterogeneous Databases bydesigning a new algorithm which uses example design.

Supervisor : Prof. Sumit Ganguly, IIT KanpurDuration: Aug 2008- July 09(Expected)

Data Integration constitutes about 75% of the labour involved in maintaining and evolvingvarious net portals, which have grown exponentially.

Our method aims to bring down this manual labour, which would have significant effects onmaintaining costs  and growth potential  of these companies.  We create an example database, and design a intelligent query firing mechanism, which by

firing some rounds of queries and looking at the outputs of those, is able to zero in on thebehaviour of the query.

Our method can be used as an independent approach or as an additional layer of refinementover existing approaches.

Project:  Design and create an application software which simulates bidding, transfers and teamformation, done by players and team owners, in the next season of IPL .

Supervisor: Prof. Sumit Ganguly, IIT KanpurDuration:  Aug 07-Nov 07

The solution proposed was web-based design solution which was implemented using LAMParchitecture.

Many security features (encryption of passwords, mailing the user passwords bycreating them randomly) were successfully implemented.

Special emphasis was given to usability and user-interface. An option for player transferswas also provided.

The project won the 2 nd  prize among all projects in the batch.

Project: Design and implement a limited functionality compiler for C#.

Supervisor: Prof. Sanjeev Kumar Agrawal, IIT KanpurDuration:  Aug 07-Nov 07

The compiler was successful in compiling and optimising code for basic arithmetic functions, loops and conditions.

Compiler was implemented in Java, and it compiled to IA32 native code.
