Linda Jean Brooks Linda Brooks Astoria Sept. 30, 1934 — Dec. 2, 2015 Charles L. Meadows Sr., of Astoria, died Dec. 2, 2015, in Portland. He was born Sept. 30, 1934, in Longview, Washington, to Leo Valgene Meadows and Louise V. Stevens. His parents preceded him in death. His siblings are David Colwell McCauley of Knappa and the late No- vella LaVerne Littke. He attended Knappa Schools until he enlisted In U. S. Air Force in 1952. Charles entered the body and fend- er industry in 1966. His mentor for the body and fender ¿eld was Oren Tweet of Westport, Oregon. Charles left this ¿eld in 1983, and operated his own business for about a year. In 1984, he started employment with the Wauna Mill and retired from there in 1994. Charles and Virginia loved to travel, mostly tak- ing the back roads for their scenic beauty. He always looked forward to family camping experiences, and the family barbecue. He loved to build birdhouses, Àower boxes, and holiday lawn decorations, and he loved a challenge! If he didn’t have a plan for it, “improvise” was his motto. In addition, he loved to watch Knappa Logger bas- ketball — if it was held year around he would have been at every game! Other survivors include Cheri Geis- ler (Monty) of Knappa, Charles Mead- ows Jr. (Jill) of Clatskanie, Steven Meadows Sr. (Lynette) of Longview, and Susan Gribbin (Mike) of Knappa.
