The Queensland Tourism Awards are hosted and
presented by the Queensland Tourism Industry Council
(QTIC), the state’s peak industry body for tourism.
For 31 years, the Queensland Tourism Awards have
recognised the outstanding achievements of the state’s
tourism industry, including individuals, businesses
(industry operators) and events.
The Awards are a submission and inspection based
program and provide the opportunity to publicly
acknowledge and showcase Queensland’s fi nest tourism
operators.
The Awards cover 29 categories ranging from attractions,
events, tour and transport, accommodation, restaurants,
culture, ecotourism, marketing and recognition for
individuals.
The Queensland Tourism Awards aim to:
• Publicly recognise and reward excellence throughout
the Queensland tourism industry
• Support improved planning, development and internal
analysis for tourism businesses

The Queensland Tourism Industry Council (QTIC) is the
peak industry body for tourism in Queensland, acting
as “The Voice of Tourism”. QTIC is a private sector,
membership-based organisation representing the
interests of the tourism and hospitality industry across
Queensland.
QTIC has proudly hosted and managed the
Queensland Tourism Awards since 2010.
In addition to coordinating and hosting the QTA Gala
Ceremony, QTIC also coordinates the annual Awards
judging process and is one of the state owners of the
National Tourism Awards.

In 2016, entrants in business categories of the
Queensland Tourism Awards are required to be
certifi ed or accredited through a recognised program.
Accreditation benefi ts tourism operators by offering a
competitive advantage, providing industry recognition of
business commitment to quality products and services,
and improved business process and planning.
QTIC, as host of the Queensland Tourism Awards,
is fi rmly committed to continually lifting standards in
the Queensland tourism industry and is proud to be
managing the Australian Tourism Accreditation Program
in Queensland.
All entrants are required to be accredited upon
nomination, with the exception of entrants in the
following categories:
• Major Festivals & Events
• Festivals & Events
• Specialised Tourism Services
• The Richard Power Award for Destination Marketing
• Outstanding Contribution by a Volunteer or Volunteer
Group
• Young Achievers Award
• The Marie Watson-Blake Award for Outstanding

QTIC provides advice and support to industry operators
to become accredited and certifi ed.
GALA CEREMONY
ACCREDITATION AND CERTIFICATION
The Queensland Tourism Awards Gala Ceremony
is recognised as the largest and most prestigious
event for Queensland’s collective tourism industry.
Each year, the QTA Gala Ceremony brings together
900 guests to celebrate and acknowledge the
outstanding achievements of peers and colleagues.
The Gala Ceremony provides an opportunity to
network with Federal and State Ministers, Board
members from QTIC and Tourism and Events
Queensland, as well as owners, senior managers
and key decision makers from the state’s leading
tourism associations and enterprises.
The 2016 Gala Ceremony will be held on Friday
11 November at the Brisbane Convention &
Exhibition Centre.
