Shared Growth & Capacity Building
Developing countries need high-quality statistics for “evidence-based policy making and monitoring.”*Only 96 out of 192 countries have an adequate level of capacity to produce MDG statistics. (UN Statistics Committee, 42nd Session, Doc. E/CN.3/2011/13)
With emphasis on “managing for results” in int’l aid environment, countries need to compile statistics to assess the progress of development .- Busan Forum addresses performance management of global efforts for effective assistance.
Statistical capacity building is crucial for the global initiative of “shared growth,” to be able to monitor progress toward development of individual countries and the World.
