Welcome from the FIG

I join the FIG Acrobatic Gymnastics’ Technical Committee in expressing

enormous appreciation to British Gymnastics and the City of Glasgow for making the 21st World

Championships of Acrobatic Gymnastics possible. For the event to be so generously sponsored by an internationally recognised city of culture, is a bonus.

The World Championships, preceded by the 5th World Age Group competitions, provides a unique and essential opportunity for friends to meet again in a high class competition and for a range of newcomers to test their skills in the best of learning contexts. It is in ‘the taking part’ that our sporting education advances and that the fantastic opportunity provided by Glasgow will be fully experienced.

We trust that all Federations with acrobats will support the event by participation, so that this truly will be a World Championship where

Acrobatic Gymnastics is seen at its best and, importantly, in its developing phases.

In this way, we can assure that the World appreciates that this is an exhilarating, achievable gymnastic sport for a wide range of age and ability groups across all cultural

traditions.

It is ideally situated two miles from the city centre in the historical heart of the city’s West end. Well served by public transport, the surrounding area boasts bars, restaurants and hotels. The Arena provides a centre for sporting excellence for organised clubs and the general public. Unique to the Kelvin Hall is the Indoor Athletics Track, Climbing Wall and Sports Injury Clinic.
