Dear Parents, SOCCER ROUND ROBIN Congratulations to our Year six soccer teams who competed in the Syndal District Schools Sports Association Soccer round robin last week. The girl’s team came third and the boy’s team came first and then went on to win the grand final. It was a very exciting day for all, with Pinewood students displaying great team work and encouragement of each other’s efforts.
BRINGING MATHEMATICS TO LIFE Bringing Mathematics to life is the purpose behind the Year 5 Mathematics Expo. The Expo was an opportunity for students to create a game or activity to engage visiting students in years 3-6 and our parent community. The students worked collaboratively in a team to write a proposal, write a procedure and plan/design their activity.
Congratulations to the Year 5's on their hard work and teamwork in preparing for the event.
Thank you to the many parents and grandparents who came along and joined in the fun.

LEGAL RESPONSIBILITY FOR CHILDREN Parents and teachers share the legal responsibility for children. When children are at school, the school takes on the responsibility of parents. In recent times, a focus on Child Safe policies and practices as well as community concern has highlighted this legal issue. We need to know exactly where our children are and who is responsible for them at all times. With this in mind, new policies have been instigated across Victoria.
From the beginning of Term 3, 2018, all Victorian government schools are required to contact parents/carers as soon as practicable on the same day of an unexplained student absence. Our school uses a COMPASS generated text to contact parents/carers as soon as practical on the day on an unexplained student absence.
You can now reply via the COMPASS link within the text message with a brief reason for your child’s absence- please see information below for the process of response.
SCHOOL TERM ENDS The school term ends at 2.30pm on Friday June 29th (tomorrow). Children are to be collected at this time. The school will close at 3pm.
There will be a final term assembly for the whole school at 9.30 am on Friday June 29th to celebrate the term achievements.
Our school re-opens for Term 3 at 9.00am on Monday 16th July.
I wish everyone a safe and relaxing end of term break.
Karen Jenkin Principal
