ABOUT YONGE-DUNDAS SQUAREYonge-Dundas Square (YDS) opened in 2003 as a focal point of

the City of Torontos Yonge Street Revitalization Project. Since

that time, the Square has produced hundreds of events and

hosted more than 1200 promotions, media launches, community

& cultural festivals, attended by more than 6 million people.

YDS is Torontos central hub and the heart of the city, located at

one of the most prominent intersections in Canada. The Square

has built an international profile by serving a broad constituency

including neighbours, city residents, businesses, educational

institutions, not-for profit organizations and visitors.

YDS takes part in some of the citys biggest celebrations

including NXNE, Nuit Blanche, Brazil Day, DesiFest, and Canada

Day. The Square also hosts numerous special events throughout

the year, most of which offer free admission.

On quiet days, the Square is a respite from the hectic pace of

downtown life that offers a tranquil yet distinctly urban oasis

featuring spectacular water fountains, caf seating and several

site amenities including free wi-fi access.

YDS is a City of Toronto public facility operated by a Board of

Management appointed by City Council.

profit organization Wireless Toronto.

Reduced priced tickets for theatre and events are offered at the

onsite T.O. TIX booth operated by the Toronto Alliance for the

Performing Arts.

A sightseeing and information kiosk is operated on site by

Shop Dine Tour Toronto. The Square is one of the citys most

prominent pick-up and drop-off points.

The Square participates in the murmur audio history

exhibit. Callers to the posted telephone number can listen and

contribute to the oral history of the area.
