The term break was certainly not what we had expected with the tragic news of the death of our
much loved teacher Marie Watts, in a car accident.
Marie was travelling to Christchurch and was involved in a fatal car accident.Salford School Board of Trustees, staff and wider community were shocked andsaddened by this tragic event. Marie was a genuine, warm and caring person.She was a dedicated teacher and provided her 5 year old students with a loving,calm caring manner.
Marie will be remembered forher kindness and generosity,and always being concernedfor others.
We have a tribute book in the foyer for anyone
who would like to write a message to the Wattsfamily. Our thoughts and prayers are with themat this very sad and difficult time.
Our thoughts are also with the McCormackwhanau in the loss of their baby boy from a cotdeath.
As a community it will be the strength and sup-port of us all that will make the days ahead a littleeasier.
Thank you all for the kind messages and supportat this time, the staff have greatly appreciated
your thoughts.
TERM 4 —With thisterm being an actionpacked 7 shortweeks. We arefocusing on theTechnology processwith a Wearable Artcontext.
This week all students have been immersed in a “Tuning In day”. The school was
humming with many hands on challenges, designing, trialling and refining. Each class hasselected a theme for their wearable art and they are sounding very interesting! This willculminate in a sharing evening for parents on Tuesday the 6 December 2011.
As well as this, we will have a Musical Extravaganza organised byKate Crowther and Lou Horo. We are fortunate to have so many
talented students. Thiswill give them anopportunity to showcasetheir individual creativity.This will be held in theSchool hall
on Mondaythe 12th ofDecember2011.
