It is our honor to welcome you to the Twenty-eighth American Boxer Top Twenty event. Every year, the ABC Week is kicked off Monday night with an elegant show that is considered the premier Top Twenty in the Nation.
This event is made possible because of the twenty top Boxers of 2016 which you will have the opportunity to see here tonight along with some Top Twenty Past Winners here to Exhibit.
We welcome you and ask you to be sure to look for the colored page in this catalog for the People’s Choice Ballot. Be sure to vote for your personal favorite and see who is selected as People’s Choice Winner at the ABC Awards Dinner!

On behalf of the American Boxer Top Twenty Committee, I welcome you to the 28th Annual American Boxer Top Twenty Competition. Our event celebrates the 20 Top Scoring Boxers of 2016 who make up the competitors tonight. In addition, you will see past winners of the Top Twenty Exhibit to remind you why they won those titles. This gives you a unique chance to see all of these great dogs in the ring at one time. The Show begins when the three secret judges are escorted into the ring and are
introduced. Then the lights go down-- anticipation rules and all eyes go to the beautifully lit pergola awaiting the first Boxer and handler to explode from the darkness into the spotlight accompanied by their song…. The Show has begun……This Production is directed by Cheryl Robbins and her Production Crew. In addition to the beauty and elegance of the evening, Dr. Larry Dosier spends hours researching and updating the pedigrees to be sure each is correct. And, of course, the flowers that you will see gracing our rings all of ABC Week are provided, yet again, by the generosity of Phillip Koenig and often arranged personally by Salli Moore Kottas. Where else are you surrounded for a week-long dog show by beautiful, fresh flowers? What a perfect way to compare, evaluate and enjoy all of these top dogs in one evening. And, in addition, because of the generosity of Caryn Orlando and The Boxer Daily, you can vote for YOUR choice of the winner. There is a People’s Choice ballot in the back of each catalog so be sure to fill it out and deposit it in the box when you leave the show. Suri, won not only the 2014 ABC Top Twenty but she went on to win the American Boxer Club National and was the #1 Boxer in 2014. What can one say about this beautiful girl? She is the epitome of feminine perfection in a Boxer! We are thrilled with her accomplishments and the wins that were bestowed upon her.
Throughout Suri’s show career she has brought home 12 Best In Shows, 4 Reserve Best In Shows, 32 Specialties, 49 Group 1's and a Group 4 at Westminster Kennel Club. She has been appreciated and awarded Specialty Bests by All of the Breeder judges that she was exhibited too. And for that we are greatly appreciative, as it reconfirms the pedigree she descends from the promise we saw in her as a puppy.

My heartfelt appreciation to each and every judge who recognized my beautiful boy. To say he was a breeder’s dream come true is an understatement. He was a stallion in the show ring and a kind and gentle soul outside the ring. I could have never asked for more from him.
I lost this beautiful boy September 29, 2016, after a short illness. He was my heart dog and we miss his silly antics every minute of every day.

Judging Procedure for the Top Twenty
1. When the judges first see each dog, they must score it according to an Average Placement Scale of 1 – 10 before it is judged. In other words, the judge must look at the dog on the whole and score it on that scale, with a score of 10 meaning that, as a first impression, the dog appears to be in perfect harmony with the judge’s picture of the “ideal” Boxer. In the event of a tie, this score shall be used as a determining factor to break the tie.
2. Then, the dogs are scored individually by each of the three judges, using the Top Twenty Boxer Point Schedule which is derived from the Standard. When a judge examines an individual dog and compares it mentally to their own picture of the “ideal,” that judge is going through an evaluation process. The Top Twenty Boxer Point Schedule adds the assignment of numerical values to this evaluation and it demands that the judge indicate wherein penalties are assessed for less than the ideal. Since the scores are posted, each judge goes on record, part by part, when they score the dog.
This “hands-on” scoring is far more time consuming than the comparison judging that we are used to. After all, these are our Top Twenty Boxers and they are all competing for the top spot! This type of judging exacts strong discipline on the part of each judge. A fault that seems to stand out to one particular judge might not to the others, thereby, reducing the impact of the idiosyncrasies of individual judges. While in the ring, judges may only confer with the stewards regarding judging procedures.
3. The winner will be determined on the basis of the averaged total scores of each dog and the signed score sheets will be publicly posted following the Show.

I have been active in dogs for 40+ years. I have judged for the American Kennel Club since 1998 where I am a Multiple Group (Working, Toy, Non-Sporting, and ½ of the Terrier Groups) and Best in Show judge. I am an All Breed Judge for the American Rare Breed Association, several International Kennel Clubs and am an All Breed International Judge approved through Germany.
My original breed was Boxers and I bred/co-bred two Top 20 Boxers. I have owned, bred, and have had many Boxer champions. Most were under our kennel name of Dante’s but some were under client’s kennel names. I also have bred several champion Pugs including one that went on to be the Number One Pug and the Number Three Toy Dog in Canada. Other breeds that I have owned, bred and shown are Dobermans, Basenjis and Pointers. I currently own a miniature poodle, and two terriers.
Along with my husband, I handled mostly Boxers but occasionally other breeds for approximately sixteen years.
Besides judging in the United States, I have judged in China, Japan, Argentina, Brazil, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Norway, New Zealand and Mexico. I have judged the American Boxer Club Regional Circuit, the American Boxer Club National, and the Boxer Club of Mexico National, along with many Boxer specialties throughout the United States and in New Zealand and Canada

I fell in love with the Boxer breed as a child. My grandmother, Marion Henderson, bred and showed boxers under the Amity Hall kennel name in the 1950’s and 1960’s along with my uncle, Merle Henderson, who was a professional all breed handler. They were the breeders of CH Amity Hall’s Master Key who was Best of Winners at the American Boxer Club Nationals in 1959 and CH Amity Hall’s Mischief Maker, the 1965 American Boxer Club Grand Prize Futurity winner. I have very fond memories of visiting my grandmother’s house and playing with her Boxers in the yard and decided at a very young age that I would have a Boxer of my own someday!
In 1987, soon after I was married, I acquired my first Boxer puppy. She was just a pet but eventually this led me down the path of following in the footsteps of my grandmother and becoming involved in the dog show world.
In 1995, I assumed the Amity Hall kennel name when I bred my first show litter. Consequently my first champion, CH Amity Hall’s Record Braker, came from this litter and he went on to win Reserve Winners Dog at the American Boxer Club National in 1996 when he was just 8 months old.
I have been owner handling for 21 years and have finished several of my own Boxers. To date am the proud breeder of 10 American Champions and two Canadian Champions including the number 4 Canadian Boxer in 2016!
I can honestly say, Boxers are truly my passion and I cannot imagine my life without this wonderful breed! It is an absolute honor and a privilege to be the Breeder Judge for the American Boxer Club Top Twenty tonight!

I acquired my first Boxer around the age of 20 and it was then my passion and love for the Boxer breed began. In the beginning I looked into hiring a handler but after meeting Alberto Berrios at a show in Hunstville, AL he encouraged me to owner handle the dogs myself. From that point I started breeding and handling my own Boxers under the Kennel name Touchstone. After a few years I started to take on clients and my handling career in Boxers began.
In the mid 1990’s I received a call from Steve and Ann Anderson from Rummer Run Boxers and they wanted me to evaluate a brindle bitch for show. That brindle bitch turned out to be MBIS MBISS CH. Rummer Run’s Stardust, 1997 winner of the ABC Top Twenty. I had one other Top Twenty winner in 2002 MBIS MBISS CH Carillon’s Elegance of Rummer Run, “Ellie.”
During my career I finished over 400 Boxers to their American Championship. I have had numerous Top Twenty qualifiers as well as piloting 8 different Boxers to all breed Best in Shows. I have won every award at the National and Regional level multiple times.
I recently returned from the United Kingdom were I was honored to have been chosen to judge the 2017 Cotswold Boxer Club Dog of The Year.
I would like to thank the American Boxer Club Top Twenty committee for being nominated as a judge for the 2017 ABC Top Twenty, it is an honor to be able to judge at such a prestigious event. Congratulations to all handlers and owners on a great year.

"Locker"
Sitting at ringside in Portland in 2012 I watched a magnificent brindle male take the Breed at the shows. I knew then that dog was going to be something and with the help of a few friends, I was able to breed my ACC TJ's Miss Parker DOM to him. As our litter grew, we proudly watched King - GCHG AJC Hi-Tech The King of Sherry Shoot JP fly to the top. I am truly honored that Locker gets to join the other Top Twenty contenders this year! Even though he was out for several months due to an injury, he came back in full swing and is in the line-up!
Many thanks to my friend, Cheryl Jennings, for helping, literally (and I mean literally!), with making Locker come to be. Co-Breeder Dianna L. Emmons, you were also there for the ride and pushed me along the way. Your vision came true. Mrs. Jack Billhardt, I appreciate you letting this happen! This soft loving soul is the best to live with.
Jimmy and Wendy Bettis blew Locker out of the gates in January, 2016, at the Portland shows with four major BOBs and two Group 2 placements, and his handler Jenn Holmberg Baggenstos took him to the Top Twenty. Sarah Chasan Neely helped show and proudly took him to his championship. Love you all, thank you!
Many judges have complimented Locker for meeting the Breed standard. We appreciate those judges for bringing him here. As a breeder and owner, I couldn't be more proud of our first Top Twenty contender!

“Joshua”
Joshua has taken me on an amazing ride! In almost 30 years of loving, breeding and showing Boxers, I thought that attaining Top 20 status in 2015 was the ultimate dream come true; the impossible Bucket List Wish becoming a reality. WOW! Here we are again, finishing 2016 as #12 Boxer in breed totals and #11 Boxer Dog All-Breed.
Considering the awesome competition this year on the east coast and mid-west, I am proud that we were blessed with almost 40 Best of Breed wins over the year, including 4 Group ones and multiple additional Group placements. In my mind, however, Joshua’s greatest achievement of the year was siring a litter of TWELVE pups, all flashy with the exception of one white and one plain. Eight of those pups are futurity nominated, and that but adds to the wonderment of the week to come!
Joshua continues to take my breath away (and not only when he launches himself at me!) Me thinks some obedience training might be in his future! His expression could melt a heart of stone. He has eyes that dance and a heart that sings. Of course, there’s just the right amount of naughty that no boy could be without! His exquisite square body and breed type are but icing on the cake.
HUGE thanks to “Team Joshua” and to all his fans and supporters that make showing him such a joy. Believe me he is such a ham, and does his best to work a crowd! Steve Stewart and Gina Currier have given him their combined effort, but more than that they have LOVED him and shown amazing confidence and passion. Their total commitment to him has been such a blessing!

2016 was an exciting year for our boy! What a team Lori and Ranger became, winning at every level in all different areas of the country! He is a Multiple Best in Specialty Show and Group Winner, Reserve Best in Show Winner, and a Best in Show Winner. We feel Ranger exemplifies Breed type, Style and Elegance, along with Substance, all wrapped up into one Masculine dog!! His rock solid temperament finishes off the package!
Being able to show Ranger conservatively, all the while continuing to have a happy and fun life at home has been challenging, but worth it...we feel so fortunate to have maintained his top ranking, and at the same time let him have so much time off to be the fun loving, mischievous boy that those who know him understand. That being said, we are grateful to all of the judges for their appreciation of him and for the prestigious wins he has had along the way to accomplish this. These include 9 Best in Specialties this year, many wins under noted breeder judges including Tim Hutchings, Pat Healy, Bill and Vera Anderson, Dave Gilmour, and Jack Ireland to name a few.
"Ranger" continues the legacy of Marburl Boxers in the show ring, but most importantly the next generation. He is a combination of a pedigree from vintage Marburl lines brought forward to the present, blending so many illustrious producers from the past. His sire, Ch. Marburl's Hidalgo, SOM is the sire of 29 champions thus far, and his lovely dam GCH. Illyrian's Charmed I'm Sure DOM is a 3rd generation DOM, accomplishing this status in her one and only litter. Our thanks to the Boxer fancy also for their support of our boy, it means so much to us!!

From the day we brought Reign home at 9 weeks old, we knew he was going to be a standout. It didn’t take long before exciting things began to happen.
Reign finished his championship in true style from the puppy class at 11 months by going Winners Dog & Best Opposite Sex over 9 males specials at the Boxer Club of San Fernando Valley. This was just the beginning of his sensational show career.
It has been such an exciting ride to watch Reign in the ring. We are so proud of our beautiful boy and all of his accomplishments…

The pup that almost didn’t make it to the2016 American Boxer Club Top Twenty.
This brindle girl was not her owner’s first choice; she insisted she wanted the fawn girl – only a fawn. It took a persistent Keira with her lovely expression and confident attitude along with a little gentle nudging by her astute breeder, Pam Copeland, to finally convince her owner, Mary Butler, to adopt this girl and have fun with her…
And what fun it has been!
As most breeders can attest when they have a standout pup, that pup is destined to be recognized for their attributes by finishing their Championship. Some go on to achieve higher distinction because of those people who truly believe in that pup’s special qualities and are willing to go the distance.

“Thor”
With great pride, we would like to celebrate Thor's unbelievable accomplishments during a very limited campaign. We are honored to participate in the American Boxer Top Twenty for a second year.
He is the youngest Boxer of record to finish his championship in the history of the breed, Taking Best of Breed wins at 8 and 11 months old. He won best 6-9 in Futurity as well. In his first year of showing Thor become a top 20 Boxer in just 1 1/2 months making a name for himself very quickly. His first weekend out as a Special he received a Reserve Best in Show, followed by 2 consecutive Best in Shows the next weekend---a total of 8 BIS that year. The last two shows of the year he won a Best in Show, a reserve Best in Show and The Best of the Best in Cluster, which was a great unexpected honor.
Thor ended 2016 as a Top 10 Boxer in both Breed and All Breed. He won 8 Best in Shows, 4 Reserve Best in Shows and 45 Group placements or wins and is a Multiple Best In Specialty winner—all with limited showing and limited advertising. We are proud that he is continuing his winning ways this year.
A team of great people that ALL have a common dream and believe in this dog pushes us forward. We would like to sincerely thank Thor's fantastic and very humble breeders for allowing us to be a part of this beautiful ride. We have been blessed to have had the opportunity to be a part of this unforgettable Boxer. A special thank you and sincere appreciation also must also go to Thor's trainers and handlers Hernan and Allison Pacheco, from all of us...for their outstanding devotion and love for our dog and for bringing out the best in him—he never disappoints us. Whether we win or lose, it has been a dream ride. He is a once in a lifetime dog, and we are enjoying every moment with him.

“Jib”
Jib has done it all for us: he is our first homebred champion, our first homebred special, and now, our first homebred Top Twenty dog. He makes us beam with pride. He finished in Grand Style from the 12-15 class at the Central Indiana Boxer Club, May 2014 under Judge Hal T. Biermann. We moved this young boy up for ABC and he made the cut under Judge Butch Engel. With limited showing the remainder of that year, he became a Grand Champion in January of 2015. Then he came home to grow up. Jib started as a special in 2016. He found his show legs again in March and began to shine. Throughout the year, he grew stronger, presented better. He won his first Specialty in June and ended his career with numerous Group placements, including four Group 1s. He finished #13 in breed standings and #17 in all breed.
Although Jib is very much at home in the show ring, his favorite place to be is outside, especially in the snow. Give him a football or a Frisbee, and his life is complete. Inside he has his favorite chair and pillow. And oh yes, he loves to sing!
We thank all the judges who have pointed our boy’s way over the years and all his fans at ringside. But most of all, we thank his gifted and caring handler, Debbie Struff and her assistant, Karen Quagliana. Their commitment to Jib goes above and beyond. In addition, their patience in teaching us the world of Boxers and dog shows has allowed us to enjoy Jib’s success. Debbie’s words at seeing Jib in the whelping box at two hours of age were “There’s your show boy.” Yep, Deb, that’s another one you got right. We’re looking forward to continuing to learn in the future.

“Kaden”
Kaden is one of several successful Boxers bred by Shadigee Boxers from consecutive breedings of BISS Ch Pearlisle N Standing O Risk Factor SOM to Am/Can Ch Shadigee’s Lady Luck Am/Can DOM. He is a full brother to the renowned “Maverick,” ABC National 2015 winner.
Kaden began his show career in Canada in June 2013, earning his championship at 6 months and his GCh at 9 months and he was ranked the #2 Boxer Puppy in Canada for 2013 with only 4 months of showing.
Kaden began his American show career in 2014 and earned his Am CH at 20 months with all major wins. After a brief absence, he earned his GCh at 30 months with limited showing.
In 2016, Amy and I decided that Kaden was worthy of being shown as a Special and he has not let us down. Under Amy’s expert handling, he finished 2016 as the #14 Boxer in America in only 7 months of campaigning. We were very heartbroken that we were unable to show Kaden at ABC last year due to a serious injury that kept him sidelined for 7 weeks.
I am forever grateful to Shadigee Boxers for selecting my home for Kaden. He is much, much more than I could have ever dreamed of.
Amy and I are very proud to present Kaden this year in the Top 20 and we hope that you will enjoy seeing him as much as we enjoy showing him to all of you.
