welcome to join us each Saturday at 9.30am.

S.P.U.C. Rosary for the Unborn S.P.U.C. is privileged to be partnering with the Knights of St Columba in their 50th anniversary year. In OLSJ we are marking this special year by saying the Rosary

for the Unborn before the Blessed Sacrament on the last Wednesday of each month at the beginning of

Exposition (about 9:30am). There will be special prayer cards at the back of church and also in Holy Family where Exposition is after 12 noon Mass on Saturdays.

Reflection on Today’s Gospel By Father Stephen

The apostles ask Jesus, “Increase our faith.” And he

replies, “Were your faith the size of a mustard seed, you

could say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be uprooted and planted

in the sea,’ and it would obey you.” The disciples are

asking for a quantitative increase in faith, Jesus example

tells them of the quality of faith. Faith is not a collection

of good deeds, but a quality of courage and love.

The parable that follows seems harsh. The servant comes

in from a long day of manual labour, “and the master

says, ‘Get my supper laid, make yourself tidy and wait

on me, while I eat and drink. You can eat and drink

yourself afterwards.’ Must he be grateful to the servant

for doing what he was told? So with you, when you have

done all you have been told to do, say, we are merely

servants we have done no more than our duty.”

A person is made just, that is, put in a right relationship

with God and neighbour, by faith and hope in a vision

‘that eager for its own fulfilment, does not disappoint.’

Jesus warns against defining religion merely as doing

what we are told.
