    Chapter 27

    Of the Church

    1. The catholic or universal church, which, with respect to the internal work ofthe Spirit and truth of grace, may be called invisible, consists of the whole

number of the elect, that have been, are, or shall be gathered into one, underChrist, the head thereof; and is the spouse, the body, the fulness of im that

    filleth all in all.

    Hebrews

    12:18

For ye are not come unto the mount that might be touched, and that burned with fire,

nor unto blackness, and darkness, and tempest,

    Hebrews

    12:19

And the sound of a trumpet, and the voice of words; which voice they that heard

entreated that the word should not be spoken to them any more:

    Hebrews

    12:20

(For they could not endure that which was commanded, And if so much as a beast

touch the mountain, it shall be stoned, or thrust through with a dart:Hebrews12:21

And so terrible was the sight, that Moses said, I eceedingly fear and !uake:"

    Hebrews

    12:22

#ut ye are come unto mount $ion, and unto the city of the living %od, the heavenly

&erusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels,

    Hebrews

    12:23

'o the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and

to %od the &udge of all, and to the spirits of ust men made perfect,

    Hebrews

    12:24

And to &esus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that

speaketh better things than that of Abel)

    Colossians

    1:18

And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from

the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence)

    Ephesians

    1:7

In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according

    to the riches of his grace;

    Ephesians

    1:8

    *herein he hath abounded toward us in all wisdom and prudence;

    Ephesians

    1:9

+aving made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure

which he hath purposed in himself:

    Ephesians

1:10'hat in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one allthings in hrist, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him:

    Ephesians

    1:11

In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the

purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:

    Ephesians

    1:12

'hat we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in hrist)

!. "ll persons throughout the world, professing the faith of the gospel, andobedience unto #od by Christ, according unto it, not destroying their own
