WA DAY HOLIDAY – MONDAY 3 JUNE

Western Australia Day takes place on the first Monday in June each year. It's a day to celebrate all West-

ern Australians, recognising our Aboriginal history, early European settlers and the many people from all

over the world who have made, and continue to make, Western Australia their home. The day is a public

holiday celebration and several activities for children have been organised around the metropolitan area.

Teachers are focusing on our history in classes so the holiday has particular meaning for our children.

PARKING - DROPPING OFF AND COLLECTION

There are now 550 students enrolled at Anne Hamersley Primary School. Parents are requested to maintain patience while dropping off and collecting students from our carparks. There will be no change to our drop-off and collection pro-cesses set in place for Term 2. For detailed information please refer to our Landing Post—volume 5 issue 6. A timely reminder to all parents, as instructed by our State Government, parents and caregivers are not to enter the school grounds until further notice.

Please ensure safety rules are followed to keep our children safe in our carparks:

1. Travel through the car parks at WALKING PACE ONLY - 5 km/h.

2. Ensure that you park in designated bays only.

3. Do not call your child to your car, expecting them to dash across the car park to get to you.

4. Do not park on footpaths.

5. Ensure that DISABLED CAR PARKS are left free for the purpose they were designed.

6. Walking your child to school is the ideal healthy solution.

7. Maintain social distancing rules at our gates and please do not crowd the gate entrances.

8. Do not congregate or linger at the school gates before or after drop–off or collection.

ELECTRONIC REPORTING TO PARENTS SEMESTER 1, 2020

Semester 1 student reports will have some changes made to the regular end of semester reports you normally receive.

Due to the unforeseen circumstances and interruption of education related to COVID-19, students will not receive the

usual grade scaled, A to E reports. Parents and Caregivers will receive a generalised comment for English, Mathemat-

ics, specialist areas and a general comment from their class teachers in the standard student reports. In the interest of

becoming more environmentally aware and in response to Departmental requirements, we will be emailing your chil-

dren’s reports directly to you.

In preparation for this process, please contact the school office or email: [email protected] if

there are any changes to your email address.

Student reports will be emailed on Tuesday 30 June, 2020.

2021 APPLICATIONS

In Western Australia, children can start their education in Kindergarten, however compulsory schooling starts the follow-

ing year in Pre-primary. All children of compulsory school age must be enrolled in school and attend every day—this is

the law.

You need to apply to enrol your children in school for 2021 if they are:

Starting Kindergarten—4 years old by 30 June 2021

Starting Pre-Primary, the first year of compulsory school—5 years old by 30 June 2021

Starting Year 7, the first year on secondary school

Changing schools

The closing date for all Applications is Friday, 24 July 2020. Please note Applications for Enrolment are not to be

confused with Enrolments. All applicants will be contacted shortly after the closing date advising if their application has

been successful and invite them to return and complete enrolment forms.

WE ARE NOW TAKING EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST FOR CHILDREN STARTING KINDERGARTEN IN 2021

(CHILDREN BORN BETWEEN 1.7.2016 - 30.6.2017)

Consideration will be given to students living outside the local intake area. Acceptance of an application, however, does

not guarantee enrolment at the same school for the following compulsory year unless the child lives in that school’s local

intake area. For further queries, please phone 9297-7000 or visit us between 8.30am and 3.30pm. Application forms are

available from the School Office.
