Getting Help for Mental Health: Seeking Peace Through Therapy Facilitated by Amy Novak, Professor of Sociology
Sometimes we don’t know what to expect when we seek help for depression, anxiety, stress, and traumatic life events, especially if no one we know has ever sought help. Having worked in the mental health field for five years and benefited from ten years of therapy, I will share my personal and professional experience about seeking help from a therapist for yourself of someone else.

Film Screening: Resilience: The Biology of Stress and the Science of Hope Facilitated by Dr. Jennifer Keefe, Professor of Humanities RESILIENCE is a one-hour documentary that delves into the science of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and the birth of a new movement to treat and prevent Toxic Stress. Now understood to be one of the leading causes of everything from heart disease and cancer to substance abuse and depression, extremely stressful experiences in childhood can alter brain development and have lifelong effects on health and behavior.
