Rapid Investments In Palm Oil Cultivation In KalimantanEast Kalimantan province invited investors from all across the country to participate in the opening up of five million hectares of land for oil palm cultivation over the next few years. In extending the invitation, East Kalimantan Governor Awang Faroek Ishak said currently one million hectares are being and would be planted with oil palm in East Kalimantan while the remaining land would be developed with the crop in other parts of Kalimantan.

PT Astra Agro Lestari Tbk To Construct More Palm Oil Mills In KalimantanIndonesia’s largest listed palm oil producer by area, PT Astra agro Lestari Tbk plans to use IDR412 billion-IDR516 billion from its total IDR1.5 trillion capital expenditure to construct four palm oil mills which are predicted to complete next year to develop its business. The company is planning to construct two mills in South Kalimantan, scheduled for completion this year and another one in East Kalimantan, scheduled for completion next year. In addition to the planned new mills, Astra Agro is also planning to build dock facility in East Kalimantan to help speed up the process of export via sea route.

PT BW Plantation Tbk Plans For New Plant In East KalimantanPT BW Plantation Tbk, an oil palm plantation company, expects production to rise 25% to 130,812 tonnes this year from an estimated 104,650 tonnes last year. This year’s target is in line with company’s plan to increase production capacity as a new plant started operation. The company produced 91,000 tonnes of crude palm oil (CPO) in 2010. The company, coded BWPT in the stock market, is constructing a palm oil plant in Senyiur Village, East Kalimantan with a production capacity of 60 tonnes per hour.
