PICKING UP AFTER SCHOOL

School finishes at 3.05pm, but unfortunately we have had a number of cases recently where children have not been picked up until after 3.30pm. This puts an extra pressure on our staff members, who have already worked very hard and often have commitments elsewhere in school, such as planning meetings. It is of vital importance that parents pick children up on time. We understand that sometimes, traffic jams or late appointments, mean that parents are late picking children up and as a one off this is fine. However, we have now started to keep a register of late children and if parents consistently continue to pick children up late from school they will be called in for a meeting with the senior leadership team. This meeting will be used to discuss possible reasons why parents are late and to help to improve the situation.

WHITBY RESIDENTIAL

This week our Yr5 children visited the wonderful seaside town of Whitby on their class residential. The children had a brilliant time walking up the 199 steps to the abbey, taking a boat trip out to sea, exploring the beach and eating fish and chips! The trip was a fantastic opportunity for the children to develop their

confidence, improve their independence and build upon their knowledge of the world around them! The children will now use their experiences in Whitby to extend their learning in class.

NEW TO ENGLISH CHESTER

ZOO TRIP

On Thursday our New to English children visited Chester Zoo. They had a fantastic time and enjoyed seeing all the animals. The trip will help the children to learn their animal vocabulary, helping to improve their knowledge and understanding of English.

YEAR 1 TRIP TO THE DEEP

The Year 1 children were treated to an extra special trip this week. The children visited The Deep, which is a huge aquarium in Hull. The trip was a wonderful opportunity for the children to learn more about fish and other sea life. This fits in with their new topic for the summer term ‘The Deep Sea’. Now that they have returned from the trip, the children will use their new found knowledge of sea life to investigate and explore more about the topic. Have a lovely weekend, Stuart Herrington Principal.

Welcome back to school after the Easter Holidays. We hope you had a nice break and are now looking forward to the summer term. Please note that we will be closed for a Bank Holiday on Monday 5th May. We will close for the half-term holidays on 23rd May 2014.

YR4 RESTAURANT PROJECT

Before the holidays, children in Yr4 took part in their annual Yr4 restaurant project. The children and parents had a lovely afternoon, enjoying food prepared, cooked and served by the children.

BRADFORD SCHOOL PROMS

Children from Yr4 and Yr5 performed brilliantly at the Bradford School Proms, before Easter. The children had been practising for weeks, and although they were nervous about performing at St George’s Hall, they did amazingly well. We are very proud of them.
