2015 REGIONAL SCHOOLS PRESS CONFERENCE
December 18,20151. Pursuant to the provisions of Section 1, Rule lX of Republic Act7O79, also known as Campus Journdlism
Act of 1997, the Department of Education - Cordillera Administrative Region (DepEd - CAR) announcesthe conduct of the 2016 Regional Schools Press Conference with the theme, "The Role of 27"t CenturyCompus lournolism in lJpholding Good Governonce, Leadership ond Transparency", to be held inLagawe,lfugao on January 17 -20,2016.
The conference aims to:a. demonstrate understanding of the importance of journalism by expressing it through varied
journalistic endeavors and approaches;
b. sustain advocacy on social consciousness;
c. provide a venue for enriching learning experience for students interested in pursuing journalism as
a career;
d. promote responsible journalism and fair and ethical use of social media; ande. enhance journalistic competence through healthy and friendly competitions.
The conference activities shall include the following in two levels: elementary and secondary, and oftwo media: English and Filipino:a. Group Contests
b. lndividual Contests
c. Radio Scriptwriting and Broadcasting Contestsd. Collaborative Desktop publishing Contest b
e. Concurrent Sessions
f. Awarding of the Winners; Outstanding School Paper Advisers (SPAs); and Campus Journalists (CJs)
The deadline for the submission of the top 10 School Paper entries per section/level/media from eachdivision including the following reports to the Regional Office for both levels and media will be on orbefore January 5, 20L6:
a. List of the Top 5 lndividual Winners per categoryb. List of Script Writing and Radio Broadcasting Contestantsc. List of Collaborative Publishing Contestants
d. Supporting documents including the division rating sheets of candidates for the Top 2 OutstandingSchool Paper Advisers and Campus Journalists
e. Top 10 Winners per section in the Group Contests accompanied by a List of division School paper
entries
The members of the Group Contest Display Committee are requested to be in the Regional Office at8:00 am to 5:00 pm of January 5 - 10, 2016. Please refer to Enclosure No. 2 for the members of theRegional Technical Working Group (RTWG).

A registration fee of Five Hundred Fifty Pesos (P550.00) shall be collected from each participant to be
paid in cash to the host division, charged against local funds/journalism funds or any available funds
subject to the usual accounting and auditing policies/rules and regulations. This will cover honoraria ofjudges, trophies and medals, kits, supplies, and other operational expenses. Meals of the participants
shall be taken care by their own division.
The main participants to this conference are the Top 5 Division Winners and Coaches in each of the
eight (8) categories of the lndividual Writing Contests, team winners and coaches of both Scriptwriting
& Radio Broadcasting contests and the Collaborative Publishing Contest in the two levels and of the
two media, totaling to three thousand and seventy-two (3,072) participants. The breakdown is as
follows:

8. The School Paper Adviser and Campus Journalist are advised to pay their membership fees in the
amount of sixty pesos (60.00) and thifi pesos (30.00) respectively to the Division Treasurers of theirrespective associations.
The lmplementation Guidelines for the Conduct ol the Group Contests, lndividual Contests,
Collaborative Publishing Cohtest, Photojournalism Contest, and Scriptwriting and Radio Broadcasting
Contest are attached in Enclosure No. 1.
Transportation and other incidental expenses ofthe participants shall be charged against local fundssubject to the usual accounting and auditing rules and regulations.
