Dear Parents and Community
Parent Opinion Survey Just a reminder that you have until next Friday, 2nd September to complete our online parent opinion survey. So far, we have only had 3 families/parents complete the survey, so I urge you to follow the link and answer the questions to the best of your ability. It will really help towards our forward planning and school improvement and very important that you let us know which areas we are doing well in and which areas we should work on. Thank you to those who have already taken the time to complete it, your input is much appreciated. Wheatbelt Science Forum Last Thursday, 18th August, the Year 5/6’s travelled with Miss Jeffers and Mrs Dennis to Wongan Hills to attend the Wheatbelt Science Forum. The day started off with an inspiring and engaging speech made by Professor Lyn Beazley, who told us about some of the amazing work she does as well as wow us with some awesome science concepts. We then split into our groups and enjoyed three different workshops. It was a great day and opened our eyes to the variety of areas that science can contribute to and achieve. Check out our website later this week for some more information about our workshops and photos from the day. Crunch & Sip / Snack time A reminder that we are a Crunch & Sip school and therefore encourage all of our students to enjoy either fruits or vegetables during this time. We are noticing that many students are not bringing anything or are bringing in nuts and other snacks that are not appropriate. We have attached the Crunch & Sip list to this newsletter as a reminder of what students are able to bring in, plus the benefits of participating in Crunch and Sip during the day. Please also remember
that we no longer have shared fruit at recess, so students need to have a big enough snack to get them through to Crunch & Sip. Thank you for your help with this. Science Week Morning Last Friday morning, Miss Wilson and our school leaders organised a fun and interactive science morning to complete Science Week. We were able to make slime, rain clouds, milky rainbows and sherbet using all sorts of different scientific methods. We finished the morning off with a science-themed morning tea and were super impressed with our amazing parents for the creative ideas they came up with!! Check out our website later this week to see photos from the day. We will also post each science experiment so that you can try them again at home! Rob Adams Visit Next Wednesday, we will have a visit from our friends, Rob Adams and Geoff Westlake to talk to us about the Olympics and the values and skills you may need to be an athlete and try your best. We always look forward to their informative and interesting presentations. Faction Carnival Also next week, we will all be heading down to the town oval for our Faction Sports Carnival. Today, your child will come home with a permission note and information about what faction they are in. A note has also come home asking for parent help on the day. There are lots of jobs up for grabs, so please put your name down and send it back into school by this Friday. Thank you.
Kind Regards
Shannon Jeffers

Wil’s Words …
It’s always great to see the Bring and Brag at assembly. There is so much I miss during the days I’m not
there. The staff and students produce so much excing work.
Recently, in my me with students and in classes I have seen teachers using our school values to help
students change their behaviour. Students have really bought in to them and seem to understand the
inherent goodness or perseverance, co-operaon, kindness and tolerance. Teachers are having valuable
conversaons with students about them and students are learning to apply them. As a result I’ve
recently decided to begin trying to use this same school wide language in my values instrucon with
students.
In the Senior Room we are sll talking about bravery and parcipaon but I am trying to e
perseverance in more. We’ve been looking for examples of bravery in the media and in our families and
will begin thinking about how we can be brave and persevere with the challenges that come our way.
I didn’t have so much me with the Junior Room but we will connue to think about how to work
together and communicate in a considerate way this week.
Thanks again for your support,
Wil
