wild from attacks. The course is designed to put participants’ new found skills to the ultimate

24hr Adult Survival Course 'Some of my toughest times have lasted for less than 24 hours yet have had the greatest
impact on me. And that’s the goal on the 24 hour course: push yourself and learn life-
saving skills and attitudes such as resourcefulness and calm under pressure. It’s intense
but has proved itself so rewarding' says Bear Grylls.
The Bear Grylls Survival Academy 24 Hour Adult Courses are open to adults over the age of
18 and will run year round at various locations across the UK including Brook in Surrey,
South East England and Dartmeet in Dartmoor – South West England.
Surrey - The landscape has difficult terrain including rivers, lakes, steep ascents and
undulating countryside and in full British winter & summer conditions it will be a
challenging and demanding environment to survive in. With rivers and lakes potentially
freezing in winter and weather conditions frequently changing due to being caught
between the North and South Downs, courage, knowledge and above all determination will
be key if participants are going to be able to complete the course.
Dartmeet - The landscape can be harsh and unforgiving and has difficult terrain including
rivers, woodlands, steep ascents to the many tors and undulating countryside. In full British
winter & summer conditions it will be a challenging and demanding environment to survive
in which is why Britain's elite Royal Marine Commandos train there. With rivers potentially
freezing in winter and weather conditions frequently changing due to the height and nature
of the desolate, bleak, unforgiving yet beautiful world famous Dartmoor National Park ,
courage, knowledge, resourcefulness and above all determination will be key if
participants are going to be able to complete the course.
Brecon Beacons - Close to Pen y Fan (The highest mountain in South Wales) this area of
woodland, fast rivers, gorges and rock faces make it the ideal spot for an Academy. The
terrain is super tough with water obstacles and high difficult ground being a key part of the
challenge.
It would in fact be the perfect preparation for participants who were considering any of
the Bear Grylls Extreme 5 day Survival Courses from The Highlands in Scotland, to the USA
or Victoria Falls – Africa!

24hr Adult Survival Course
Bears team of highly trained experts will facilitate learning, offer advice and guide
participants through this grueling 24 hour course. Learn to forage, identify animal runs and
lay traps, skin and gut, navigate by day and night, build emergency shelters, stalk, protect
yourself in the wild from attack, wilderness first aid, tie knots and make rope harnesses in
order to safely cross difficult terrain such as rivers, lakes and steep ground by any means.
This is not a military boot camp and its much, much more than a bush craft course. This is
an exclusive course where places are limited to only 12 participants who must be physically
fit and active. From hour one you will be lead into the wilderness with no tent, water or
food. During the course you will receive limited food, and water will need to be sourced
locally from streams and pools. You will then have to forage for anything else that may
supplement your diet.
Have you got what it takes to survive for 24 hours until rescue!
Please note – all activities are weather dependent.

About Bear Grylls Bear’s passion for the outdoors was forged during his childhood in the UK on the Isle of
Wight where his late father taught him to climb and sail. Trained from a young age in
martial arts, Bear went on to spend three years as a soldier in the British Special Forces,
serving with 21 SAS. It was here that he perfected many of the skills that his fans all
over the world enjoy watching him pit against mother-nature.
Despite a free-fall parachuting accident in Africa, where he broke his back in three
places, and after enduring months in military rehabilitation, Bear went on to become
one of the youngest ever climbers to reach the summit of Mount Everest.
Today perhaps Bear is best known for his international TV series Man Vs Wild (known as
Born Survivor in the UK) which has achieved a global audience of over 1.2 billion
followers. Bear more recently presents Escape from Hell and Get out Alive which are 2
TV shows showcasing survival experiences. Bear is also a huge philanthropist supporting
many charities including Global Angels and the RNLI. He is also proud to serve as the
youngest ever Chief Scout, a role which allows him to inspire many of the 28 million
scouts around the world to get out there, follow their dreams and build their own
adventures.
“So many people have asked me over the years where they can learn extreme, practical
survival - the type that requires spirit, determination and the skills to self-rescue
against the odds, in some of the harshest terrain around. So it is with great pride that
we can now finally launch the Bear Grylls Survival Academy to be able to share some of
these skills and what it really means to be able to look after yourself when the chips
are down,” says Bear Grylls. “Oh, and it may hurt a little.”
