FROM AIRPORT TO HOTEL BY METRO

1. Underground exit Aeropuerto T4 or Aeropuerto T1, T2 and T3 or Barajas, Line 8.

2. Transfer at Nuevos Ministerios with Line 10. 3. Underground arrival Plaza de Castilla.

4. Walking from the subway exit by Paseo de la Castellana to the hotel Exe Puerta de Castilla.

RENT A CAR: There are six car rental companies in Madrid Barajas airport. All car rental offices are located at the arrivals area of terminals T1 and T4. The car rental companies, located at the arrivals area of the T2 terminal, remain closed. Car rental companies as Avis, Sixt, Europcar, Enterprise and Hertz offer their services at their offices at the T1 terminal Arrivals hall, in front of the baggage claim hall 2 area, and at terminal T4, floor -1.

TOUR AROUND THE ROYAL PALACE : FRIDAY APRIL 15 th 2016

1. Puerta del Sol: look for the “Kilometro 0” plaque on the ground the take a photo with the Bearand Tree Strawberry monument and the statue of Charles III. The clock at Casa de Correos always rings in the New Year 2. Calle Arenal and surrounding streets: the most famous churros, strips of fried dough, in Madrid are served up in the San Ginés chocolate bat, right next to the church of the same name. Close by in the Descalzas Reales Monastery. 3. Monastery of the Incarnation: This royal building houses significant collections of 17th and 18th century painting and sculpture, including works, by Carducho, Lucas Jordán and Pedro de Mena. 4. Plaza de Oriente: On one side is the Teatro Real opera house. On the other you will find the Royal Palace and its gardens. The Solemn Changing of the Guard takes place the first Wednesday of every month at 12 noon 5. La Almudena cathedral: the cathedral boast its own museum allowing access to the dome with its splendid views over Madrid as far as the mountains. 6. Plaza de la Villa: Plaza de la Villa (17th century) shares this square with Casa de Cisneros (16th century) and the Luanjes Tower ( 15th century).

Corral de la Morería, was started by Manuel del Rey in 1956, and is the most known tablao flamenco in the world.

Throughout its history, Corral de la Morería flamenco show has witnessed the performance of some of the finest professionals of this discipline, including: Pastora Imperio, La Chunga, María Albaicín, Mario Maya, Manuela Vargas, Lucero Tena, Isabel Pantoja, Antonio Gades and Blanca del Rey, not to mention an endless number of singers, guitarist and dancers.

Its location is priviledged, as it is in the centre of Madrid – next to the Royal Palace, in the main historic quarters of the city -, its decoration, the Arabic corbels and streetlamps dating from the 18th and 19th C recreate a setting reminiscent of the original tablao flamenco, that takes you back in time.

Considered as the “Cathedral of flamenco art” of Spain, this establishment is frequently visited by well-known celebrities visiting Madrid, therefore don’t be surprised should you find yourself seated by the Kings of Spain, Government Presidents or famous international artist.

CULTURAL VISIT TO SAN LORENZO DEL ESCORIAL: SATURDAY 16 th.

Symbol of the Spanish Golden Age The Monastery of El Escorial was the first example of the architectural style which came to be known as Herrerian after its creator, Juan de Herrera. It holds the designation of World Heritage site.

Philip II used this Royal Site for his family pantheon. Construction work began in 1563 under Juan de Toledo, and on his death was continued by Juan de Herrera, who completed the building in 1584. It is built in granite and divided into three areas. The central area is the Kings' Courtyard. There is a tower at each of its four corners measuring 55 metres, each crowned by a metal sphere. The compound includes the Ministries, Casa de los Oficios artisans' houses, the Compaña –where the company was quartered–, and the apartments of the Infantes and Queen, all connected via arches. The church is laid out in the shape of a Greek cross and there are funerary monuments to Charles V and Philip II in the main chapel. The library is also of particular interest. It is on the first floor of the west wing, and contains close to 45,000 documents from the 15th and 16th centuries. It was designated a Historic-Artistic site in 1971 and received the World Heritage designation in 1984. The building was designed by Juan de Herrera and gave rise to an architectural style known as Herrerian. It is a substantial construction, as can be seen from its 15 cloisters, 13 oratories, 86 staircases, 88 fountains, more than 1,600 paintings, nine towers and 73 sculptures.

The weather in Madrid at this time of year is usually warm and sunny, average temperatures in April are between 15- 25 º Celsius. We recommend you to bring umbrella because April is slightly rainy at Madrid.
