Excursion 1: Valletta & Harbour Cruise / Cultural

Highlights — Full Day Tour

Today, it‘s time to discover Malta‘s capital city, Valletta! We start our tour with a licensed

English speaking guide by coach. Founded in 1566, Valletta bears all the hallmarks of a

fortified city, yet within its walls its elegant urban physiognomy reveals an architectural

opulence steeped in history.

The city is a living testimony to the legendary Knights of the Order of St. John. Their

sumptuous palaces, and particularly the church of St. John, are renowned for the wealth

of artistic treasures.

First stop is at Upper Barracca Gardens. Situated near the entrance of the city, these

Gardens offer a magnificent breathtaking panoramic view over the Grand Harbor, justly

considered to be the finest natural harbor in the Mediterranean.

Afterwards, we stroll a bit through Valletta, including Republic Street and we visit one of

the jewels of Malta: The St John’s Co-Cathedral, a gem of Baroque art and architecture. It

was built as the temple of the Knights of St John. The Grand Masters and several knights

donated gifts of high artistic value and made enormous contributions to enrich it with

only the best works of art.

We also include for you a visit to The Grandmaster's Palace, currently housing the House

of Representatives of Malta and the office of the President of Malta. The Palace was one

of the first buildings in Valletta, founded by Grandmaster Jean Parisot de la Valette in

1566, as a consequence of the successful outcome of the Great Siege of Malta (1565).

And you will also be watching the Malta 5D, which brings 7000 years of island history to

life, in a purpose-built auditorium.

Join us then in the afternoon on a Harbor Cruise and witness Malta's living past. Cruise

around the two natural harbors on either side of Valletta - Marsamxett Harbor and the

Grand Harbor. A detailed commentary will unfold the history of Valletta and the Three

Cities connected with two Great Sieges of 1565 and 1942, as well as all the other places

of interest including the historical forts, battlements and creeks which can only be

admired from the sea. We cruise into every creek showing you the closest possible views.

Sample Excursion 2: Discover Gozo!

Malta‘s Picturesque Sister Island – Full Day Tour

Gozo, the quiet island north-west of Malta, is a 25-minute journey away,

reachable by frequent modern ferry services. The island’s charm reveals

picturesque landscapes, pastoral villages, and nestling churches. Its idyllic

scenery and peacefulness are a source of inspiration to many visitors.

Accompanied by an English speaking licensed Guide, and on setting foot in

Gozo, you will notice that although both islands are similar in history and

development, Gozo has a character entirely of its own. Gozo, which is a

three-hilled Island, is greener and more picturesque than Malta.

Gozo is home to the impressive pre-historical Temple of Ggantija in Xaghra

which you will visit. It is one of the oldest free standing structures in the

world, Gozo's triumph. You also visit the Capital Victoria and the lovely Bay of

Xlendi. For a lunch snack we visit the agritourism estate Ta’ Mena and taste

their excellent Gozitan specialties washed down with their own range of

wines.

There will be time for some shopping – Gozo is renowned for its woolen

goods and handmade lace.

Later you have the opportunity to snap a photo at the stunning Azure

Window at Dwerja, an impressive rock formation which continues to endure

despite the sea lapping at its base.

The Excursion ends in the late afternoon and you will be leaving Gozo with

nice memories of a wonderful day.

Sample Excursion 3: Mosta & Mdina - “The Silent

City“ – Half Day Tour

Today you visit another two “Highlights” of Malta. With your English speaking

licensed Guide you drive by coach towards Mosta to visit the famous

Rotunda of St.Marija Assunta, popularly known as “Mosta Dome”. Built in

the 19th century, the rotunda dome is the third-largest church dome in

Europe and the ninth largest in the world.

Afterwards you will be seeing the medieval walled Silent City of Mdina with

its defense bastions dating back to the 9th Century.

We walk through Mdina's narrow streets, stopping to admire some of the

splendid panoramic views from the Bastions, and passing St. Paul’s

Cathedral (visit optional and entrance fee not included).

You visit the Rooms at Palazzo Falson, the former home of Captain Olof

Frederick Gollcher OBE (1889-1962), the son of a prosperous shipping

merchant of Swedish descent. Gollcher was an artist, scholar and

philanthropist, but also a discerning collector of objects d’art and historical

objects. Palazzo Falson was not only his home, but also a setting for his

works of art and antiques. Here he spent many happy years constantly

adding to and rearranging his collections. After Gollcher’s death in 1962,

the house and its contents eventually passed into the hands of The Captain

O. F. Gollcher OBE Art and Archaeological Foundation.

Sample Excursion 4: „The Beautiful South of Malta“ -

Half Day Tour

Today you visit - together with a licensed English speaking guide - the Southern

part of the island.

This fantastic excursion that starts off by taking you to one of Malta's jewels,

the Blue Grotto, with its dazzling blue sea that will definitely leave a striking

impression. If weather permits, you will have the opportunity to take a boat ride

(boat fee not included) around the caves and grottoes where you can see the

luminescent corals and glowing water at first hand.

Your guide will then show you the prehistoric temple complex Hagar Qim, which

was discovered in 1839. It dates from about 3,800 BC, and it is one of the

oldest known man-made structures in the world. The temple stands on a hilltop

overlooking the sea and the islet of Fifla. The surrounding area, which is typical

of Mediterranean landscape and spectacular in its starkness and isolation, is

designated a Heritage Park.

Finally you will proceed to the fishing village of Marsaxlokk where you have free

time to stroll a bit around the market. One can also admire the typical

traditional brightly painted colored fishing boats “luzzu”.

Marsaxlokk (meaning the south-east port) is the foremost fishing village and,

perhaps, the most picturesque seaside locality in Malta.

Fishing nets are often spread on the quay to dry in the sun and, quite often,

fishermen can be seen mending these nets. These activities, together with the

modest fishermen's houses by the quayside, lend the place charm and serenity.

Sample Excursion 5: Maltese Gardens & Palazzo -

Half Day Tour

Today you will discover the unknown & greener side of the Maltese Island.

Together with a licensed English speaking guide you will begin your journey

through the gardens of Malta with the visit of the Buskett Garden, which lies

on the southern coast of the island. After a nice walk with our expert for flora

and fauna through the largest forest of Malta, you will continue your journey

to the famous San Anton Gardens in Attard. This garden is enclosed to the

presidential palace and holds many exotic plants from all over the world.

The conclusion of our tour is the visit to the Palazzo Parisio, which is an

exceptionally large palazzo, testifying to the ambitions of a wealthy 19th

century Maltese family.

A haven of color and scents, the gardens of the Palazzo are a perfect

testimony to the migration of Italian landscaping, as well as the merging of

cultures between Malta and southern Italy. The walled Italian gardens are a

mixture of symmetry and Mediterranean colors with many Mediterranean

and exotic species and a rich collection of bougainvilleas and of citruses.

The Palazzo itself is a splendid stately home immersed in history and an

architectural gem with unique luxurious interior finishing's. Described as a

miniature Versailles, Palazzo Parisio’s significance as a cultural contribution

to the Malta’s heritage is overwhelming. Every room or hall, each landing

and corridor, the ornate gilded and mirrored ballroom, the music room, the

lavishly decorated ceilings, murals and frescoes, fine stucco work and every

painting and chandelier – even the marble of the grand staircase – will

impress and enchant you.





Sample Excursion 6: Tranquil Comino & the Fantastic

Blue Lagoon on Board of the „MS Kyumm“

Full Day Cruise

Cruise in style and comfort on our luxurious Turkish Gullet M/S Kyumm. As we

sail for a full -day´s cruise to Gozo and the Blue lagoon in Comino.

We depart from Bugibba Jetty at 11.00am and cruise along St.Paul´s Island,

where St.Paul the apostle was shipwrecked in 60 A.D., Mgiebah Bay and

Mellieha. We pass by Smugglers´ Cove, a cave in Mellieha popular among divers.

Our cruise continues to Santa Marija Bay a secluded bay at Comino, where we

berth for a 90 mins. break for swimming or snorkeling. In the early afternoon we

proceed to the magnificent Blue Lagoon in Comino.

We berth at this amazing lagoon with its unique crystal clear waters for 2 and a

half hours to sightsee the tiny island. Here one is free to either explore the island

or to simply enjoy a leisurely swim.

As we sail back at Bugibba, you will view the Elephant Rock (an enormous rock

which like an elephant´s head), Santa Marija Cave, Crystal Lagoon and other

stunning scenic locations that take your breath away. Arriving back to Bugibba

Jetty at 18.00pm

The M/S Kyumm offers a spacious deck seating, fully equipped toilets & fresh

Snacks and hot/cold beverages will be available for purchase at a fully-equipped

bar.
