END OF TERM Friday is the last day of term. Well done to staff and students on their achievements this term. Again special congratulations to students for the musical, sport, public speaking, Tournament of the Minds, Central Coast Showcase and Spelling Bee successes and participation. I hope everyone has a restful holiday, enjoyed with friends and family.
SCHOOL DEVELOPMENT DAYS A reminder that Term 4 begins on MONDAY 14 October for students and staff and the School Development Days for staff are on Thursday and Friday, 19-20 December. The staff have already completed one day of training after hours, so they will finish work on 19 December.
KINDERGARTEN 2020 Enrol now for Kindergarten 2020. If you have not returned all your child’s enrolment paperwork, please do so ASAP, as we need to complete enrolments on our system.
Headstart begins on Friday 18 October for the first five Fridays of Term 4.
LEAVERS If you are leaving at the end of the term or year, please let the office know immediately.
Our school enrolments for 2020 indicate there will only be 17 classes. We need to know definite numbers for 2020 Kindy and other classes to plan the rest of the school classes and teachers.
TOUCH FOOTBALL Unfortunately the stage 3 touch football girls lost last Friday against Newport 5-3. Even though they lost, they tried very hard and should be very proud of their efforts. The girls showed exceptional behaviour and sportsmanship.
SWIM SCHEME Our School Swimming Scheme will be running from 14 October to 25 October, Weeks 1 – 2 of Term 4, at Gosford Pool. An information note detailing routine, what to bring and behaviour expectations will be sent home on Wednesday with those students who are attending. The Department of Education’s School Swimming Scheme is an intensive learn to swim program, which develops water confidence and basic skills in water safety. It also offers extension and further explicit instruction to confident swimmers. If you have any concerns or questions, please contact your child’s teacher before the end of this week, as the scheme begins on the first day of next Term. Year 2 Teachers
SPORT IN SCHOOLS 3-6 Years 3-6 will be involved in Sports in Schools on Tuesdays in Term 4. Please return permission note and money by the end of the term.
ASSEMBLY OF EXCELLENCE Our Term 3 Assembly of Excellence is on Thursday at 9:15am in the hall. Invitations have been sent home to awardees families.
STAGE 2 EXCURSION Stage 2 are visiting the Chinese Gardens tomorrow- 3V and 3T or Wednesday- 4H, 4L and 3/4D. Thank you to parent volunteers for assisting. Coaches leave Brisbania PS at 7:30am and will return by 2:50pm. Remember to pack, an umbrella, jumper, hat, recess, lunch and drinks. Have a great day!
BUSHFIRE SEASON 2019-2020 The Official Bushfire season began on 1 September.
Our school has been identified as a school at increased risk if a bush fire were to break out on a day when a Catastrophic Fire Danger Rating is issued for our area. To ensure the health, safety and welfare of students and staff, the NSW Department of Education has determined that on days when a Catastrophic Fire Danger Rating is issued for our area, the school will temporarily cease operations for the day(s) the rating is current and alternative learning arrangements will be put in place. This is based on information obtained through a bush fire assessment of our school arranged by the department. A Catastrophic Fire Danger Rating is likely to occur on a very small number of days during the bush fire season, if at all.

Students will not be at school as school will be closed and the staff will report to closest opened school.
The school will only receive notification of a Catastrophic Fire Danger Rating after school hours the day before the forecast is issued. To assist me in contacting all parents please ensure that you have provided the school with up-to-date home or after hours contact details. Notification will be made via Skoolbag, website Facebook and local radio. Information for parents and carers provided by the department about these arrangements is attached. Up to date bush fire information will also be available to you on the department’s bush fire safety website. The link for this site is: http://www.dec.nsw.gov.au/about-us/news-at-det/bushfire-safety
SECURITY Please call security on 1300 880 021 if you see anyone on the premises out of school hours. Enjoy the week and the school holidays. Annette Parrey
ENROL NOW FOR KINDERGARTEN 2020 Do you have a child starting school in 2020? Please register at the office and pick up your information pack. If you have friends or neighbours with children who will be in Kindergarten next year, please let them know. Kindergarten numbers impact on the whole school structure each year, so the earlier we know Kindergarten numbers the easier it is to plan teachers, classes and rooms needed in 2020. Our Headstart program will be held on the first 5 Fridays of Term 4 - 18 October, 25 October, 1 November, 8 November and 15 November with our Headstart Parent Information Morning on 18 October @ 9:30am. Coastie Coffee Birds Van will have coffee and cookies available to purchase.

HELP NEEDED
Paula and Rose, our lovely canteen managers, are currently drawing up the canteen roster for term 4 - and it’s looking rather sparse! We currently have 10 parents, 3 grandparents and 1 great-grandparent available to volunteer in the canteen next term. These volunteers are from 12 different families - in a school where there are over 300 families! For the canteen to continue to run 5 days a week we desperately need more volunteers. There are approximately 60 volunteer shifts to fill each term so this means that some of our volunteers are devoting a significant amount of time each term to helping in the canteen. We greatly appreciate all our volunteers’ efforts but this is not sustainable - if more people help, everyone would have less shifts which would be more manageable. We understand that lots of parents cannot volunteer due to working full time or having younger children to look after. However, your family may have a grandparent, great-grandparent, other relative, neighbour, or friend who would like to help our school. All of our current volunteers enjoy their time in the canteen and feel that they get something out of it as well as helping the school. Please ask your friends, family and neighbours if they would be interested - you might be surprised by their response! If anyone is interested you can message me on 0423036697 or contact Paula / Rose in the canteen between 9-1.30 on school days (ring the office on 43691246 and ask for the canteen). Our next meeting is Tuesday 15 October at 7pm in the staff room. There are a number of current P&C members (including executive members) who are unable to continue in their current role next year. We need new members to ensure that the P&C remains active and is able to continue to support our school. Have a great last week of term and enjoy the school holidays Suzanne Petrie Sapsford P&C President 0423 036 697
