and the conference itself will be an enriching

experience for all, and will provide a platform

for budding and experienced health

professionals.

“Considering the fact that almost all diseases

begin with a person being either underweight or over

weight, BMI is an ideal screening tool. Coupled with

waist circumference, sensitivity of BMI as a warning

signal increases further.

“Smart BMI First” is the name adopted for

universalizing what BMI and its normal range is. An

effort is to be made by the concerned person to

maintain BMI in the normal range. The prefix

‘smart’ is taken from the Smart City concept of the

present Government.

Once BMI becomes a ‘Mindset’, it will make its

impact felt. At this point of time, having a Hb level of

more than 12 and having a BMI between 18-23

should do the trick. In all my talks and workshops, I

make it a point to urge everyone to establish a firm

connection with oneself daily, in form of “Smart

BMI First.” This serves as a commitment for the

whole day to be aware of their actions.
