RUNNING ERRANDS IN ASHWAUBENON ON MONDAY’S? Stop by Nativity for Adoration!

Nativity Parish hosts Adoration of the Blessed

Sacrament every Monday from 9:30 AM till 3 PM, in

its rear chapel. Take time out of the business of your

day and enjoy some peace and quiet with our Lord.

You’ll be so glad you did!

NEW ADVENT CANDLE STANDS The Worship Commission just received four new commissioned

Advent Candle Stands; a project that took more time planning/

designing than constructing. These new stands were designed to

complement our other church furnishing i.e. Candle and Holy Water

Bowl Stands, and will replace our 30 year old wooden stands.

Parishioners, Mark Williams (metal work & painting) and Dale

Quinn (wood legs, staining /coating & assembly) donated much

time/materials in order for use to do these ourselves, thus saving a

considerable amount of money (over 60%). They were designed to

be multi-seasonal so that they could be used throughout the church

year for a variety of seasonal uses i.e. flower stands, additional

candle arrangements, etc. Funding for these four stands ($400 per

stand) will come from sources outside of this year’s annual

operating budget. Sources include, but are not restricted to:

Memorial and Contingency funds and/or anyone who wishes to

purchase one or more of these as a Memorial Gift for a loved one.

Please contact Wayne Efferson, Director of Worship if interested.

PREPARING FOR CHRISTMAS Advent is upon us. It marks a new liturgical year for the Church and

launches our preparation for the feast of Christmas. The Worship

Commission is busy preparing for Advent and needs your assistance

with the following: Advent Candles for the Wreath will be part of

the entrance procession so we’re in need of four people at each

Mass to process with these candles down the aisles of the church to

the candle stands. Church Decorations for Christmas will be on

Sunday, December 18th at 11:30 AM.

THE ADVENT WREATH Xavier Seubert, OFM, wrote: “The wreath is a cosmic symbol. It

underlies how the universe is woven through human activity into the

meaning of Christ. Branches from the forests, fed all year by earth, water,

sun and air are woven together. Added to the branches are candles shaped

from the wax of bees into the bearers of flame, which is so important for

our survival and delight. All these are woven together into the final light

and meaning of this the feast of Christmas, that is, into the heart of life’s

light born among us. The wreath symbolizes for Christian communities

the world’s movement into the life of Christ.” Our wreath is suspended

over the center aisle with the candles at the four corners of church.

IMMACULATE CONCEPTION

This Holy Day of Obligation will be celebrated on Wednesday,

December 7th at 6:30 PM and Thursday, December 8th at 9:00AM.

Liturgical Ministers are needed to help prepare for this celebration.

Sign-ups are in the Sacristy and Usher’s Room. Note: Nativity Youth

will prepare Wednesday’s Mass.

LEARNING THE MASS PRAYERS AND RESPONSES Today on the First Sunday of Advent, we fully implement the

revised Mass prayers and responses. Pew Cards will be in the

hymnal holders for a quick guide to all the Assembly prayers’ and

responses’. In addition, the 2012 BREAKING BREAD music books

will be used for all music and revised texts for the Mass. Note:

Hymnal Boards and Numbers--You will notice the top number as M

884. The M refers to Mass and number refers to the Mass of

Creation Mass Setting.

COMMUNION RITE—SOMETHING NEW!! The Eucharistic Ministers will be entering the sanctuary after the

priest receives Communion. This change was requested by Bishop

Ricken for all parishes in the diocese, since this is the norm outlined

in the General Instruction of the Roman Missal. The Communion

Procession will remain the same as we have been accustomed.

LECTORS Did you receive a copy of the 2012 Lector Workbook. If not,

please contact Wayne Efferson, Director of Worship. The Church

will be using Cycle B readings (The Year of Mark’s Gospel) for the

entire year, beginning the First Sunday of Advent (November 27th).

CHRISTMAS FLOWERS—Deadline is Monday, Dec. 5th The Worship Commission will continue the tradition of honoring our

deceased through the living symbol of fresh flowers (poinsettias). Your

donation will help beautify our environment throughout the Christmas

Season. Envelopes are provided in your monthly packet. Any amount

is welcome, suggested amounts range from $10.00 to $50.00. A

special insert listing the names of those remembered will be included

in the Christmas bulletin.

WHAT’S HAPPENING IN RCIA? (Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults) For the past two months, two Catechumens (unbaptized) and one

Candidate (baptized) took part in the Inquiry Period to determine

whether they wanted to continue the process of becoming Catholic;

this was known as the Pre-Catechumenate. Now that they want to

continue the process, they will take part in the Rite of Welcome

and Acceptance on the First Sunday of Advent (Nov. 28th) in

which they will be presented to our faith community; this will

follow the homily. This special rite is the official beginning to the

RCIA process and known as the Catechumenate. After the rite, the

Catechumens and Candidate will be dismissed, along with their

sponsors and catechists, to continue studying God’s word and learn

about the Catholic faith.

If you or someone you know are interested in learning what the

RCIA process has to offer, contact Wayne Efferson at

(490-1352, ext. 206 or [email protected]).

ESTO VIR (A CATHOLIC MEN`S APOSTOLATE) will meet at the Shine of Our Lady of Good Help (near Champion)

Saturday, December 10th. There will be Rosary at 7:35 AM and

Mass at 8:00 AM. Program and speaker to follow Mass.

NATIVITY CHRISTMAS GIVING TREE The Giving Tree provides us the opportunity to share our

gifts of time and treasure with children in need, homebound

parishioners, those in nursing homes, and Brown County

Mental Health Center residents. We invite you to select an

ornament from the tree and purchase an item of need and a

toy from a child's needs list, or make a monetary donation.

Giving Trees will be in the Narthex November 19th –

December 4th.

NEW THIS YEAR: Each child is represented by a cut out

pair of mittens with items of need listed on one mitten, and

toys on the other. If you cannot commit to buying both

items, you can now check out one or the other. Ask one of

the volunteers about this option.

Please remember to register your ornament and return your

purchased gifts to church by Wednesday December 7th.
