    Closing Date: We have made the closing date as late as we possibly can and therefore there can be NO EXCEPTIONS to the closing date of 31st March 2017 – In Fairness to other competitors who do the right thing WE WILL NOT ACCEPT ANY ENTRIES AFTER THIS DATE.  Entries will be accepted via email or post but only on the correctly completed entry forms.     Class Fees:  Youth Classes (ring 8) $5 each ‐ Colour, Classic Head & Trot & Performance Classes $15 each ‐ Halter, Adult Handler, Adult Showmanship and Harness Classes $20 each   Registrations: Please make sure that you have all your registrations up to date. A letter from your relevant registrar is acceptable. If you have any problems, please contact us.  If not registered MH&PE you MUST send a copy of your registration and current membership for the applicable society with your entry form.  Conditions of Entry: Included in the program are the Condition of Entry and Rules & Regulations set down by MH&PE Inc. Please read them and understand that in submitting your entry, you are acknowledging that you accept the conditions of entry and will abide by them. In addition to which you accept that you are reasonable for any person who may accompany you to the show and that Junior competitors are the responsibility of their parent/guardian and must have adult supervision at all times.  Food: We are still confirming catering for this event – please watch our facebook page for updates  Stables & Camping:  Stables and campsites must be pre‐booked and paid for with your entries.  There will be no additional stables available as only the booked stables will be unlocked by showground staff prior to our event.  We will not have keys.   Stables will be $20 per day (max 2 ponies) and Campsites $20 per night – you can choose powered or unpowered – same price. Stables will be supplied empty and you must supply your own bedding.   This may be ordered from Stampede Stock Feeds if you wish along with any feed you require.  Orders must be placed and paid for directly with Stampede on 02 4578 8843 by Wednesday 19th April 2017 and will be delivered early Friday morning.  Bags of Shavings cost $13 each.   All shavings must be completely removed from the stables at the end of the event and your stable will be checked before your bond is refunded.   HORSES ARE NOT PERMITTED IN THE CAMPING AREA – Any person found to have a horse in the camping area will attract a fine of $60 per infringement (policed by showground staff) No open fires, Braziers or anything that generates a naked flame are permitted on the showground. All competitors must vacate the showground at the close of the event unless prior arrangements are made.  Dogs:  For the safety of both dogs and competitors it is preferred they don’t attend the show but should you choose to bring your pet showground rules state that they must be kept on leashes at all times and not tied to any part of any fence or property of the HDAA.

    discretion.

  • 1. Payment/ Entries: Must be received BEFORE the closing date. Refunds: will not be made under any circumstances after the published closing date of entries. 2. Registrations: All horses must hold CURRENT registration with a society relevant to the classes they are competing in and the owner must be a current financial member of that society. A copy of both sides of the registration must be provided with your entry form along with a copy of your membership card. Pending registrations with other societies will ONLY be accepted if entries are accompanied by a letter from the Registrar stating they have received the registration application & provide us with the Registration Number. 3. Membership: All Exhibitors must be current financial members of MH & PE Inc. OR pay the $20.00 insurance day fee. 4. Measuring: All Miniature exhibits must be measured at the show to ensure they meet the height requirements for classes entered. You will be allocated a time for measuring once your entries have been received. Shetlands are not required to be measured at this show. Height for Age: will apply to all Miniature, Small and Little Horses entering the show. Please be sure to enter your horse in it’s correct height class. Show age for Miniatures: is determined where show organizers stipulate “Age as at 1st August” with the exception of performance events which are actual age. 5. Protests: Any protest must be lodged in writing and accompanied by $80 protest fee which will be forfeited should the matter be deemed frivolous or committee decide the matter does not warrant further attention. Protest must be lodged within 30 minutes of class completion. 6. Performance Classes: Exhibits must be 12 months ACTUAL age and over to compete in any performance event including Youth events. Exhibits must be 4 years ACTUAL age and over to be eligible to compete in senior performance events. Performance Guidelines are available from the secretary prior to the show. 7. Catalogue: Catalogues will be provided to the entrants on the day of show providing all fees relating to the show have been finalised. 8. Insurance: It is a condition of entry that Waiver forms be completed and signed by all Spectators and Exhibitors Handling, Holding, Driving or Riding an exhibit at the show. Wristbands will be provided on presentation of the completed waiver form. 9. Novice: is an exhibit/ exhibitor that has not won a similar class at a National Show. 10. Youth Age: Age of Youth Exhibitors is determined by actual age as on the day of the show. 11. Stallion/Colts: May only be handled by exhibitors 14 years of age and over. If at anytime the Judge, Steward or Show Committee feels that the Colt/Stallion is deemed unsafe the exhibit will be expelled from the ring.

    12. Conduct of Exhibitors: Exhibitors may leave the Judging area ONLY when instructed by either the judge or ring steward. Inappropriate behavior, language or displays of bad sportsmanship towards judges, stewards, officials or volunteers will result in the exhibitor being disqualified from competing in the remainder of the show including all exhibits entered by that exhibitor. No refund will be given in this instance. 13. Time tabling of events & entry to classes: Approximate starting times of the rings will be printed in the catalogue. All efforts will be made to ensure that there are no class clashes. If you expect classes to clash please ensure you have sufficient handlers available where possible to help avoid delays. We expect competitors to be aware of what is happening in the rings so as not to miss classes. Please note: Ensure your exhibits are entered into their correct classes in the catalogue and inform the Show Office of any changes. 14. MH & PE Inc. accepts no Responsibility: ALL Exhibitors and Spectators attend this show entirely at their own risk and whilst all care is taken to protect property, MH & PE Inc. accepts no responsibility for any loss or damage caused to property, animals, competitors or spectators in the case of loss or damage by reason of any defect, accident, negligence or neglect however arising. A Waiver form MUST be signed by all persons intending to handle / ride or drive horses/ ponies on the days of the show. 15. Broodmares: To be eligible to compete in a broodmare class you must provide a copy of a vet certificate stating the mare is in foal, or has a foal at foot, or has foaled in the last season . Broodmares are NOT eligible to exhibit in a Dry Mare class if Broodmare classes are provided in the program. 16. Owners Group of (2): means any two registered exhibits that must be owned and recorded by the same entrant to be eligible for the Owners Group class . 17. Breeders Group of (2): means any two registered exhibits that must have been breed from the same stud and hold the same Stud Prefix. This does not mean that the entrant has to own both but the exhibits must be on the same entry form for the Breeders Group class. 18. Sire or Dam Group of (2): means any two exhibits breed by the same Sire or any two exhibits breed by the same dam. The exhibits can be of any age registered with any relevant miniature breed and owned by the same or separate owners however they must be on the same entry form. 19. Liberty Music: If a Liberty class is available: - Place your desired music on a CD in standard CD format ONLY - Use a Permanent marker and write directly on the CD - 1 entry per CD - 1 Song per CD - Miniatures Name & Liberty Class number on the CD - It is your responsibility to check that the CD works - Hand your CD to the Show Office first thing in the morning before the show starts and NOT 5 mins before the class - CD’s not collected by the end of the show will be disposed of

    CLASS CLASSIFICATIONS For the purpose of this show if entry numbers warrant it horse classes may be divided into two different “types”:  Classic and Modern.  You can find the description of each of these types below.  Owners may select whichever type they deem most suitable for their horse but must remain within that “type” for the duration of the show.  Horses entered in a Classic class are not eligible to enter a Modern class and vice versa.  Please note our committee, judges, stewards etc will not be making this decision for you – we expect you to decide.   Judges will be instructed to only award the correct type in that class. 

    CLASSIC MINIATURE HORSE 

     

     

     

    (a) Are small and compact (b) Have a sturdy bone and thicker hair coat, particularly the mane and tail (c) The head may be slightly larger and the neck is often stouter by comparison with a Modern horse but 

    still overall well proportioned (d) The ears are small (e) A large eye is favoured, well set between a wide forehead.  A straight face is favoured over a roman 

    nose. (f) A good sloping shoulder with the neck coming out of the shoulder so the head and neck is held high 

    rather than coming straight out of the body.   (g) The body and legs should form a square. A rectangular appearance is not recommended.    (h) Legs must be straight.  Cow or sickle hocks, over or behind at the knee, club feet, turned out or twisted 

    conformation abnormality are to be penalised. (i) The chest should be broad.  An overly narrow chest is not recommended (j) These are strong, stocky miniature horses which are cob‐like in appearance, similar in type to a quarter

    MODERN MINIATURE HORSE 

    Youngstock Adult  

    (a) Are very refined (b) They are longer in the leg and finer boned than their Classic cousins (c) The head should be carried high on a well arched neck which should be symmetrical and proportionate 

    to the body (d) The jaw should be fine with flaring nostrils (e) Throatlatch should be refined (f) Ears should be short, sharp and erect (g) A large eye is favoured, well set between a wide forehead.  Dish or straight face is favoured over roman 

    nose (h) A good sloping shoulder with the neck coming high out of the shoulder (i) This horse must be well balanced with good symmetry.  The body and legs should form a square except 

    youngstock which may be taller than they are long (j) The body should have a trim, tight barrel with a clearly defined wither, be short coupled and have a 

    level back and flat croup (k) Legs must be straight.  Cow or sickle hocks, over or behind at the knee, club feet, turned out or twisted 

    legs, wide behind, bowed tendons, unsightly windgalls, splints, enlarged joints and any other conformation abnormality are to be penalised 

    (l) Mane and tail should be flowing.  Tail set should be high (m) Overall appearance is of a very refined miniature horse similar in type to an American Shetland Pony or

  • AOTE CLASSES 

    Amateur Owned, Trained & Exhibited classes.  The aim is to provide classes in which an amateur exhibitor can show his/her horses without having to compete with horses that have been trained, groomed and/or conditioned by a professional during the current calendar year.   Eligibility rules: 

    1/ A person is considered an amateur when he or she is no longer eligible to compete in youth classes and has not engaged in any activities, except for as a youth, during the past five (5) calendar years which are listed below 

    (a) Having accepted remuneration for showing any horse at halter, in performance competition, training, schooling either horses or other persons 

    (b) Having accepted remuneration for having conducted seminars, clinics, given instruction in showing, training or judging 

    (c) Having accepted remuneration for judging (except for reimbursement of costs such as fuel, meals etc) 

    An individual who has had entry fees paid or has received prize money would still be considered an amateur. 

    Having the occupation of veterinarian, farrier, owning a tack store or agistment facility do not affect the amateur status of a person who is otherwise qualified. 

    2/ The horse exhibited by the AOTE must be trained, conditioned, groomed and shown ONLY by the AOTE or a non‐professional family member in all divisions entered during the previous calendar year from the date on which the class is held.   Non‐professional family members are defined as spouse, mother, father, brother, sister, niece, nephew, son, daughter, grand child, grandparent, legal ward, in‐laws, step‐children, step‐parents and step‐siblings.  No one with a professional trainer in the household or on the premises may compete in the AOTE division.  No horse previously trained by a professional trainer may enter AOTE classes even if they have changed ownership and the new owner is eligible for AOTE status until their one (1) calendar year exclusion period has been fulfilled. 

      Clarifications:  Grooming includes bathing, clipping, razoring and all other allowable enhancements needed to prepare the horse for showing.  Conditioning includes, but is not limited to exercising and neck or body wrapping.  An AOTE horse may be held or petted by anyone.  The petting of a horse with your bare hand is not considered grooming the horse.   Anyone may assist an AOTE horse in an emergency. 

    Dental, medical and farrier care DO NOT have to be done by the AOTE exhibitor. 

    3/ Another amateur may show AOTE horses in classes only when the AOTE has more than one horse qualified to enter that class.  Another amateur may assist in any class requiring multiple handlers. 

    4/ AOTE horses may be transported to and from shows by anyone including trainers.  This includes loading, unloading, feeding and watering during transport. 

    5/ Ownership – Any horse or pony entered in the AOTE classes must be owned or leased by the amateur individually or jointly with the amateur’s family as previously defined or family owned corporation, stud or farm.   Such ownership or lease must be evidenced by the current Certificate of Registration for that animal.   

    6/ A contestant may exhibit more than one horse provided they each meet the selection criteria.  

     

    YOTE CLASSES 

    Youth Owned, Trained and Exhibited Classes.  The aim is to provide classes in which an amateur youth exhibitor can show his/her horses without having to compete with horses that have been trained, groomed and/or conditioned by a professional during the current calendar year.   Eligibility rules: 

    1/ All rules applying to the AOTE classes also apply to the YOTE classes. 

    2/ Youth competitors are deemed to be 17years or under actual age on the day of the show.  Note that age restrictions may apply to individual YOTE classes. 

     

     

  • AOTE & YOTE  

    All competitors who enter an AOTE or YOTE class are responsible for knowing the class rules.  Any person who violates these rules shall be subject to disciplinary action which may include loss of your amateur status for a time period to be determined by the MH&PE committee and loss of awards or prizes for the show in which the infraction occurred.   Show protest rules apply and all protests must be made in writing within one (1) hour of the applicable class or before the closure of that show ring.   

    VERSATILITY CLASS 

    Versatility is another new class we are trialling for this show.  The horse or pony will perform three (3) disciplines in ONE (1) class. 

    Harness Driving 

    Halter 

    Hunter (abbreviated course) 

    All three disciplines to be judged equally and combined for final placing.  Any horse disqualified from one division is disqualified from the class. 

    (a) Horses or ponies must be 3 years of age or older (b) Stallions in this class must be handled by persons 14 years or older (c) One assistant ONLY will be allowed in the arena only for the heading and unharnessing of the horse or 

    pony (d) Exhibitor and assistant must be properly attired 

    Class procedure: 

    (a) Horses will enter the ring in harness at a working trot and then perform a working trot and walk in both directions of the arena.   Headers/assistants will be asked to enter the arena.  Horses will be asked to rein back. 

    (b) The steward or judge will signal the driver and header, as a team, to remove cart and harness from the horse and do any grooming or bridle changes.   Each horse and handler will then present to the steward in order of completion.  After a two minute time limit the steward will signal time.  Any horse not removed from cart or harness will score 0 points for this section.  Headers will be asked to exit the arena with cart and harness, in an orderly manner. 

    (c) Horses remain in the same order for the rest of the class as they present to the judge after section b is completed. 

    (d) Horses will be judged at Halter.   (e) Horses will then jump a course of three jumps to demonstrate style, manner and way of going.  One 

    left turn to the inside may be demonstrated. 

    Scoring – Judges shall award points up to a maximum of 10 points per class section with the winner being determined by totalling the scores – highest score shall be awarded first followed by descending order.  In the event of a tie emphasis shall be placed on Harness first, followed by Halter and then Hunter.   

    COLOUR CLASSES 

    Shall be judged 80% on coat colour including markings and condition and 20% conformation.

    LIABILITY WAIVER FORMEXCLUSION OF CERTAIN RIGHTS TO SUE

    The purpose of this agreement is to limit the liability of the Provider to exclude liability for any personal injury or death to the Participant and other people in the care and control of the Participant howsoever caused who signed this form as acknowledgment of the terms and conditions of this agreement. By signing this form you are waiving your rights to sue the Provider for losses relating to personal injury or death. Under the provisions of the Trade Practices Act and Various State Laws conditions are implied into contracts that mean that the Provider of Recreational Services, noted below, is required to ensure that the Recreational Services it sells to you are: rendered with due care and skill, are fit for the purpose for which they are commonly bought as it is reasonable to expect in the circumstances or might reasonably be expected to achieve the result you have made known to the Provider.

    The Participant acknowledges that the activity being undertaken is an activity being undertaken for the purposes of recreation, enjoyment or leisure which involves a significant degree of physical risk. The Provider acknowledges that they are providing Recreational Services detailed below which means; providing facilities for participation in a recreational activity, or training a person to participate in a recreational activity, or supervising, adjudicating, guiding or otherwise assisting a person’s participation in a recreational activity.

    The Participant hereby acknowledges that in attending the recreational activity that there are inherent risks involved to him or her or other people in their care and control. This agreement is directed and limited to inherent risks that are patent. The participants also acknowledges that the purpose of the recreational activity is for the benefit of the Participant and for the benefit of those people attending with the Participant and that at all times the Participant is responsible for his or her own actions and the actions of those other people in his or her care and control.

    Steps taken to avoid the danger of personal injury or death by:

    The Participant acknowledges that during all times while he or she is attending the recreational activity he or she does so at his or her own risk and that the Participant and other people in the care and control of the Participant will not hold the Provider or any of its employees or agents liable for any personal injury or breach of contract whether caused by the negligence of the Provider its employees or agents howsoever caused or otherwise. The Participant acknowledges that in the event that he or she or any of the other people in their care and control find either or any of them is in difficulty that they are to stop the activity or request that the activity be stopped if appropriate, and seek help and/or assistance and advice.

    Declaration and signatureBy signing this agreement I understand that the Recreational Services about to be sold to me as set out in this form may cause my and or my dependants personal injury or death. By signing this agreement I understand that I and my dependants waive our rights to sue the Provider for losses relating to my and or my dependants personal injury or death that result from any negligence caused by the Provider.
