1. Career Guidance:
The department of B.Sc. Computer Data Science & Data Analytics Engg. has conducted a
guest lecture on Career Guidance for Second and Final year students on 21stJuly 2018.
Purpose: The key objective of the seminar is to identify the current trends in the
market and prepare themselves for the future. The purpose of this programme is to give
students the required awareness and insight into the industry needs such as the skill set the
students need to acquire and the kind of job opportunities that are available for Data
Science students.
Report:
A talk on Data Science by Ms. Garima Gupta, a student from the first batch of Computer Data
Science was organized for the students from second and third batch of CDS on 17 August 2019.
The talk focused mainly on the student’s major projects, placement process and further studies
option.
Her major objective was for us to focus on our major projects and to have sufficient knowledge
on main subjects of Data Science i.e. “Python”, “R” and “Machine Learning”. Further in the talk
different types of Data Science domains were explained in which she mentioned “To be a data
scientist the students must have a particular overview on a particular domain”.
She gave an idea to the students regarding the Data Science projects by giving few project
examples and encouraged the students to go through different websites regarding projects and
Data Science case studies. She gave students proper guidance on the important skills to be
acquired for the Data Science and Data Analytics jobs.
Review:
The session was very interactive as the students participated with lot of interest and enthusiasm.
All the queries by the students were clarified. Now the students have a better idea regarding their
final year major projects, their placements process and their life decisions.

2. Industrial visit to BSNL
Purpose: The aim of this industrial visit is to provide a platform for students in the area
of NETWOKS and to gain knowledge in TELE COMMUNICATIONS from the
eminent experts in the field as well as to exhibit and share their ideas.
Report:
An industrial visit to RTTC BSNL Office was conducted on 22 August 2019 for the students of
Computer Data Science. The main aim of the industrial visit was to provide an exposure to the
students about practical working environment.
It was a one-day trip where the students were divided into two batches and each batch went
through four sessions organized by the office members. The sessions included explanation about
Optical Fibre Cables, Mobile Network Communication and Internet of Things. Students got to
know things practically about their working methods and employment practices.
Teachers gave proper explanation to the students about the different types of wired and wireless
communication. They made the session attractive by giving real life examples, showing 3D
models and through charts.
Review:
All the four sessions were very interactive as a lot of interest and enthusiasm was shown by the
students and teachers. All the queries by the students were clarified. Now the students have a
better idea regarding the industries as it was an exposure from the academic’s point of view.

3.One day seminar on -“Data Science Industry Perspective”:
Topic: Data Science Industry Perspective
Date: 30 January 2020
Venue: Loyola Hall (Loyola Academy)
Purpose:
The aim of this programme is to give students the required awareness and insight into the
industry needs such as the skill set the students need to acquire and the kind of job opportunities
that are available for Data Science students.
Report:
A one day seminar was conducted for all the Three year Data Science students. The seminar was
divided into two sessions.
The first session was about Data science Industry perspective . Resource person Mr. Satish
Yellenki, MD & CEO, Skyees pvtd. addressed the students on the latest and the trending subject
of Data Science and Analytics in various areas, its usage and its benefits. Sir also discussed on
the future prospects of the subject in the market and the job opportunities students can look
forward to towards the end of the course. He shared some useful tips with students in staying
abreast of the latest technology and in acquiring the required skills.
The second session was about the importance of statistics in Data science . Resource person Mr.
Ravi Shankar ,Vice –principal ,Vignan Jyothi college , Guntur. Addressed the students on the
importace of Statistical knowledge , To use the proper methods to collect the data, employ the correct
analyses, and effectively present the results. And how we make discoveries in science, make decisions
based on data, and make predictions.
Review: The students have extremely benefitted from the seminar and are now better
equipped with the knowledge on Data Science and Statistics The sessions were very
interactive and lively. Students participated with a lot of interest and enthusiasm. Frequent
questions and relevant examples kept them hooked to the talk.

4. Workshop on IBM tools and Machine Learning Algorithms
Resource Person: Mr. G Vamshi Krishna
Venue: Loyola Academy (M.C.A lab)
A one-week course was conducted from 6 January 2020 to 11 January 2020 for the students of
Computer Data Science. The main aim of the course was to make the students learn about the
IBM tools and Machine Learning algorithms.
The session included detailed explanation about IBM Cognos Analytics, Data Science, ANN and
all the frequently used Machine Learning algorithms such as Linear Regression, Logistic
Regression, Random Forest Classifier etc. Students got to know things practically and better
understood hands-on experience.
All the students registered themselves with the original IBM website to know things visually.
Proper materials were provided so that each student can go through the details and learn more
about Data Science. He made the session attractive by assigning each and every student work on
projects with the help of random datasets.
The complete session was very interactive as a lot of interest and enthusiasm was shown by the
students. All the queries by the students were clarified. Now the students have a better idea on
how to work with the IBM tools and have gained knowledge about the machine learning
algorithms.
5. Participation in National Science day
The National Science Day Fest was held at Loyola Academy Degree and PG College on the
28th and 29th of February, 2020. Various departments of science from the college have
participated in the fest, where the menders of each department have exhibited various working
models pertaining to different concepts of computer science.
The Department of Computer Data Science & Data Analytics Engineering has provided five
such models.
The first model proposed was a face and object recognition model. The model works by
detecting various objects and performing various tasks such as colour filtering and edge
detection.
The second model was a model of a chatbot. Chatbots are automated programs which answer
to user questions about a specific domain. The model is implemented using text mining
techniques.
The third model described the process of exploratory data analysis, which which involved
various techniques of data processing prior to actual analysis.
The fourth model was an interactive game known as 'Angry Birds Dodge', where the main
character has to dodge a series of falling blocks.
The fifth model was a system built to detect driver drowsiness. The model works by detecting
the subject's facial features and looks for signs of sleepiness.
The judges were highly appreciative of the models demonstrated by the students.
