Required Textbook: Grammar Practice for Elementary Students New Edition by Elaine Walker and Steve Elsworth Recommended Textbook: English Dictionary Course DescriptionThis course covers the structures of English grammar at the beginner level. Students practice writing at the sentence level as they learn the areas of English grammar that will help them build a foundation for verbal and written communication. They read, analyze and edit their own written sentences.Course Objectives: Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:
Understand the difference between different grammatical tenses and other structures Choose the right word or phrase to make an accurate sentence Put words in the right order to make grammatical sense Read, analyze and edit their own written sentences Collaborate with peers as a learning strategy and exhibit peer editing skills
Instructional Methods:Communicative Language Teaching method: Students learn through activities in real or realistic communication.Topics and themes of interest to students’ lives and learning are presented through use of curriculum materials found in textbooks, articles, or instructor created.Through selected content, students learn about North American and global culture.
