opening windows werent a viable solution in the standard classrooms due to the acoustic requirementsneeded to minimise noise on the site.

    New Health Brochure

    MONDAY, 11 OCTOBER 2010 11:53

After intensive planning and research, Monodraught has

published a new 32-page brochure specifically devoted to the

Healthcare Sector. The brochure is designed to convey the

benefits and importance of having natural daylight and naturalventilation in healthcare establishments for wellbeing as well

as having an informative look at the current legislation and

guidelines. The brochure contains numerous case studiesand outlines the benefits of using natural ventilation and

daylight when considering energy consumption and carbon

emissions. Particular reference is made to BREEAM as well

    as various energy saving directives.

The 32-page booklet is designed to give guidance to both the Specifier and Customer alike and to

provide a simple straightforward explanation as to how people involved in the Healthcare sector can

benefit from our systems. Acopy of this brochure is available as a downloadfrom our website as well as

    being available by post.

    Dr Jones, I Presume . . . .

    MONDAY, 11 OCTOBER 2010 11:48

Monodraught Research Engineer Benjamin Jones recently completed an

Engineering Doctorate (EngD) in Environmental Technologies from Brunel

University sponsored by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research

Council (EPSRC) and Monodraught. The EngD is a four-year programme that

combines environmentally-focused research with industrial experience, and

    personal and professional development.

Benjamins research was centred on Monodraughts WINDCATCHER Natural

ventilation system. Because the air quality and indoor environment of a school

classroom have been shown to affect the behaviour and performance of itsoccupants, WINDCATCHER systems have become very popular. The project quantified the performance

of a WINDCATCHER in two main ways, firstly by measuring the main components of air quality in school

classrooms ventilated by WINDCATCHERS and comparing the data against current benchmarks and

secondly by developing a mathematical model to further the understanding of the air flow through a

WINDCATCHER when the wind and buoyancy forces vary.

AVice-Chancellors Travel Prize enabled Benjamin to travel and present his work at conferences in

Greece and Japan, where latterly he won first prize for his poster presentation. Benjamin has also

published work in academic journals and extensively in industrial l iterature.

    Monodraught Has the X-Factor!

    MONDAY, 11 OCTOBER 2010 09:26

    Monodraught has just launched the

WINDCATCHER X-Air system, which is the

result of four years intensive research anddevelopment, the system bristles with

innovation and a number of patented

    technologies.

One of WINDCATCHER X-Airs definingfeatures includes distinctive styling and

    patented LED architectural lighting. The

patented corner design not only increases

performance but it also allows excess wind to bypass the system, reducing loading on the unit in high

    winds.

Another innovation includes ACTIVLOUVRE modulating aerofoil louvre technology featuring specially
