Dear Parishioners, Next weekend we will welcome the Little Sisters of the Poor from Richmond. As many of you know, we typically invite the sisters to join us each year to share with us the great things they are doing for the elderly. We missed the sisters' visit last year due to scheduling conflicts. I know that you will respond as generously as you are able when the sisters take up their collection. These parish collections are the major source of funding for the ministry of the sis-ters. Let us pray that God will bless them in their wonderful work with the elderly population. Sincerely in Christ,

In the year 1251, in the town of Aylesford in England, Our Lady ap-peared to St. Simon Stock, a Carmelite. She handed him a brown woolen scapular and said, “This shall be a privilege for you and all
Carmelites, that anyone dying in this habit shall not suffer eternal fire.” In time, the Church extended this mag-nificent privilege to all the laity who are willing to be invested in the Brown Scapular of the Carmelites and who perpetually wear it.
To be eligible for the scapular promise, one must be enrolled in the Brown Scapular Confraternity. The members of the Confraternity have the added benefit of sharing in all the spiritual benefits of the Carmelite Order. En-rollment is a simple ceremony which will be hosted by St. Theresa’s on Saturday, July 14th after the 8:30 a.m. mass. Join the Legion of Mary and other parishioners in enrolling in this marvelous Confraternity estab-lished by Our Lady. If you have any questions, please contact Angela Cusumano at 703.858.2333.
2019 - Next year's pilgrimage focus will be the Holy Land - In the Footsteps of Jesus. Due to a very high level of interest from our Parish, Fr. Guest will lead 2 pilgrimages to the Holy Land. The first one will be in the winter (January) and the 2nd one will be in the Fall of 2019. You will be joining Father and your fellow Parishioners to re-live the life of our Lord from the announcement of His birth, visit the places where He was born, raised, evangelized, and died, renew your Baptism vows on the shore of the Jor-dan River, renew your Marriage vows in Cana, sail on the Sea of Galilee, swim in the Dead Sea, pray along the Dolorosa Way, and visit many more historical sites. Contact Anh Wong at wong.anh @gmail.com or 703.723.1308 for more information.
2020 - Pilgrimage to Eastern Europe and Oberammergau Passion Play - The Oberammergau Passion Play is shown only once every 10 yrs. It began with a miracle. In the 1600's, a dead-ly disease called "the Black Plague" killed about 1 in every 3 persons throughout Europe. The people of the little town of Oberammergau prayed to be spared and vowed to have a play depicting the Life and Passion of Je-sus. Those who were struck miracu-lously recovered and only a few people died in Oberammergau. Since 1634, more than 1600 villagers have partici-pated in the performance of the show every 10 yrs. For them, it's a labor of Love.
From May 31 - June 10, 2020, Fr. Guest will lead a 12 Day pilgrimage to Prague, Munich, Ettal, Oberammer-gau, Salzburg, Melk, Vienna and Bu-dapest. We will visit the most im-portant shrine of Svata Hora in the Czech Republic, the St. Vitus Cathe-dral, the St George Cathedral, the Strahov Monastery and the Wences-
laus Square in Prague, celebrate Mass in the Church of our Lady in Munich, see the Passion Play in Oberammer-gau, visit St Michael's and the Old Bavarian St Anne Im Lehel Churches, have dinner in the famous Holfbra-haus Bavarian Restaurant, see the Neuschwanstein Castle, model for Dis-ney theme parks castles, visit Mozart's hometown, see the site of the "Sound of Music" movie, have Mass in the ba-roque Melk Abbey, visit the terraced gardens of Hoftburg Palace, celebrate Mass in St. Stephen's Cathedral in Vienna, cross over to Budapest in Hungary, visit the 13th Century Mat-thias Coronation Church, visit the Benedictine Abbey, see the Castle Hill area and much, much more... Contact Anh Wong at [email protected] or 703.723.1308 for more information.
Early reservations are highly recom-mended for all 3 pilgrimages. Seats are very limited and the Oberammer-gau show packages have to be re-served now to guarantee good hotel and good seats.
