Remove the headrail from the brackets and place on a clean flat surface. NOTE: These procedures demonstrate cording a headrail with a left side control. Cording procedures for a headrail with a right side control are a mirror image of these. Remove Wand And Gears Slide the wand hook cover up over the hook to release 1. the wand (see Figure 1), then slide the wand off the hook (see Figure 2). Before You BeginRemove the sheers from the headrail and set aside.•

Remove the headrail from the brackets and place on a • clean flat surface.

NOTE: These procedures demonstrate cording a headrail with a left side control. Cording procedures for a headrail with a right side control are a mirror image of these.

Remove Wand And GearsSlide the wand hook cover up over the hook to release 1. the wand (see Figure 1), then slide the wand off the hook (see Figure 2).

Slide the wand hook cover down and off the hook 2. (see Figure 3).

Remove the hook from the worm gear (see Figure 4).3.

Using a small Phillips screwdriver remove the tether 4. cover (see Figure 5).

Release the cord from the tether cover (see Figure 6).5.

Remove Active End Cap And GearsInsert a flat blade screwdriver under the edge of the 1. active end cap cover and gently pry up (see Figure 7a for Classic, or Figure 7b for Quintette™). Slide the cover off straight.

CAUTION: Do not insert the screwdriver blade into the rectangular opening on the top of the end cap.

Turn clockwise and pull up on the worm gear to 2. separate it from the tilt drive gear (see Figure 8). Remove the worm gear and set aside.

Slide the tilt drive gear off the tilt rod (see Figure 9) 3. and set aside.

Remove Passive End CapAt the other end of the headrail, insert a flat blade 1. screwdriver into the notch on the top of the passive end cap cover and gently pry it off (see Figure 10).

Remove the two screws holding the passive end cap in 2. place (see Figure 11).

Remove Cord From HeadrailPull up both of the knotted cords on top of the lead 1. carrier assembly and cut off the knots (see Figure 12).

Pull on the cord loop to remove the cords.2.

Re-Cord ProceduresCut a length of cord equal to twice the rail length 1. plus twice the wand length plus 12" using the following formula:

(2 x Rail Length) + (2 x Wand Length) + 12" -= Cord Length in Inches

Begin cording at the active end cap. Thread one end of 3. the cord through the front hole in the active end cap (see Figure 14 and Arrow A in Figure 13).

Push the cord underneath the scissors track and fabric 4. carriers until you can see it after it has passed under the lead carrier.

Locate the two square holes on the lead carrier. Push a 5. lacing needle down through the hole nearest the active end cap and thread the cord up through the hole(see Figure 15 and Arrow B in Figure 13).

Tie a knot in the end of the cord (see Figure 16). 6.

Re-Cord Procedures (Continued)Thread the other end of the cord through the rear hole 7. in the active end cap (see Figure 16 and Arrow C in Figure 13).

Push the cord underneath the scissors track and fabric 8. carriers until you can see it after it has passed under the lead carrier. Pull the cord along the headrail to the passive end of the rail.

Feed the cord into the back opening of the passive end 9. cap. Push the cord around the cord wheel and out the front opening of the passive end cap (see Figure 17 and Arrow D in Figure 13). Pull a 6" length of cord out so it does not slip back through the end cap.

Attach the passive end cap to the headrail (see Figure 10. 18) and install the passive end cap cover.

Thread the cord through the second hole in the lead 11. carrier. Push the lacing needle down through the square hole nearest the passive end cap and thread the cord up through that hole (see Figure 19 - Classic shown, Quintette® is similar but has the spacer between the lead carrier and the scissors assembly) and Arrow E in Figure 13).

Tie a knot in the end of the cord (see Figure 20. 12. Classic is shown, Quintette is similar but has the spacer between the lead carrier and the scissors assembly).

Connect the scissors track to the top of the lead carrier 13. assembly, if it is not already connected.

Reinstall The Gears And CoverAlign the tilt drive with the gear teeth on the tilt rod, 1. then slide the tilt drive gear onto the tilt rod (see Figure 21 Classic shown, Quintette™ is similar).

Insert the shaft of the worm gear into the hole 2. next to the tilt drive gear. Turn the worm gear counterclockwise so that its teeth interlock with the teeth of the tilt drive gear (see Figure 22a); turn untilit is fully seated on the active end cap (see Figure 22b).

Before installing the new cover, check that the cords 3. operate smoothly over the gears and are not tangled or twisted.

Place the active end cap cover over the gears and align 4. the grooves on the cover with the tabs on the bulkhead assembly (see Figure 23).

Slide on the cover until it snaps into place. 5.

Reinstall The TetherMake sure the cord is attached properly to the tether 1. body (see Figure 24). Fit the tether cover over the tether body then replace the screw (see Figure 25).

Check that the cord moves freely through the 2. cord tether.

Reinstall WandInsert the wand hook into the worm gear1. (see Figure 26).

Slide the wand hook cover up and over the hook2. (see Figure 27).

CAUTION: Be sure that the cords do not become twisted.

Attach the flat section of the wand to the bottom of 3. the hook (see Figure 28).

Pull the wand hook cover tightly over the wand4. (see Figure 29).

If necessary, take up the slack in the cord loop, adjust 5. the knot on one end, and cut off the excess cord.

Reinstall Headrail And SheersReinstall the headrail and sheers.1.

NOTE: See your owner's guide for the procedures.

Test shade operation -if the cord is too loose or the 2. wand does not hang straight, adjust the cord tension.

Adjust Cord Tension (If Necessary)Using a small Phillips screwdriver remove the tether 1. cover (see Figure 30).

Use a .050 hex key to loosen the set screw in the wand 2. lock (see Figure 31).

Move the tether to adjust the cord tension.3.

Raise the tether to decrease cord tension. -

Lower the tether to increase cord tension. -

CAUTION: Do not over adjust. The cord should be slightly loose.

Once adjusted, center the wand lock in the cord tether, 4. then tighten the set screw to secure.

Remove WandThe wand hook connects the wand to the worm gear. The wand hook cover secures the hook in place (see Figure 1).

Slide the wand hook cover over the hook to release the 1. wand (see Figure 2), then slide the wand off the hook.

Slide the wand hook cover off the hook and remove the 2. hook from the worm gear (see Figure 3).

Using a small Phillips screwdriver remove the tether 3. cover (see Figure 4).

Release the cord from the tether cover (see Figure 5).4.

Remove End Caps And GearsInsert a flat blade screwdriver under the edge of the 1. active end cap cover and gently pry up (see Figure 6). Slide the cover off straight. Remove the oppostite side active end cap cover.

NOTE: Do not insert the screwdriver blade into the rectangular opening on the top of the end cap.

On the current control side, turn and pull up on 2. the worm gear to separate it from the tilt drive gear. Remove the worm gear (see Figure 7).

Slide the tilt drive gear off the tilt rod (see Figure 8).3.

On the oppostie side pull the tilt drive gear off the tilt 4. rod. You may need to use pliers.

Remove Cord From HeadrailDisconnect the scissors track from the top of the center 1. carrier on the non-control side (the side opposite where the wand will be located). Slide out the center carrier to expose the bead attached to the cord.

Cut the cord on both sides of the bead and discard the 2. bead (Figure 10).

Disconnect the scissors track from the top of the center 3. carrier on the control side (the side where the wand will be located). Pull out the center carrier to expose the two knotted ends of the cord.

Pull on the two knotted ends of the cord to remove the 4. cord from the headrail (see Figure 11).

Tie a knot in the end of the cord.5.

Re-Cord Procedures (Continued)Next, thread the other end of the cord through the 6. rear hole in the control side active end cap (see Figure 15 and Arrow C in Figure 12).

Push the cord underneath the scissors track and fabric 7. carriers until you can see it after it has passed under the first center carrier. Pull the cord along the rail to the second center carrier (the non-control side center carrier).

Thread the cord through the two teardrop-shaped 8. holes in the non-control side center carrier. First, push the lacing needle down through the hole next to the carrier body and thread the cord up through this hole (see Figure 16 and Arrow D in Figure 12).

Thread the cord down through the second hole in the 9. lead carrier (see Figure 16 and Arrow D). Pull the cord so that it is snug between the two holes.

Thread the cord through the rear hole in the end cap 10. first (see Figure 17 and Arrow E in Figure 12).

You can remove the stationary carrier screw from -the stationary fabric carrier on the control side, then push the tilt rod out about 6". Or, you can use a lacing needle.

Re-Cord Procedures (Continued)Thread the cord back into the headrail through the 11. front hole in the end cap (see Figure 18 and Arrow E in Figure 12) and pull the cord snug around the cord wheel. The tilt drive gear, which serves as a bushing for the tilt rod, can remain in place.

Push the cord under the scissors track until it reaches 12. the control-side center carrier. Use the lacing needle to thread the cord up through the second hole in the center carrier (see Figure 19 and Arrow F in Figure 12). Tie a knot in the end of the cord (see Figure 20). Pull the cord taut by pulling on the cord loop on the control side of the headrail.

Measure the width of the headrail from end cap to end 13. cap and mark the center on the back of the rail(see Figure 21).

Re-Cord Procedures (Continued)Bring together the two center carriers so that they meet 14. at the center mark. Mark the cord between the two holes in the center carrier on the non-control side(see Figure 22). Be sure that there is no slack in the cord, other than at the cord loop.

Pull up on the cord and install a new bead on the 15. pencil mark (see Figure 23). Squeeze the bead firmly in position.

Pull the cord taut once again and reattach the scissors 16. track to the center carriers.

Reinstall The Gears And TetherOn the side opposite the control side, align the tilt 1. drive with the gear teeth on the tilt rod, then push the tilt drive gear onto the tilt rod until it is completely in place.

On the control side, align the tilt drive with the gear 2. teeth on the tilt rod, then slide the tilt drive gear onto the tilt rod (see Figure 25).

On the control side, insert the shaft of the worm gear 3. into the hole next to the tilt drive gear. Pull the worm gear down by turning it until its teeth interlock with the teeth of the tilt drive gear (see Figure 26).

Make sure the cord is attached properly to the tether 4. body (see Figure 27). Fit the tether cover over the tether body then replace the screw (see Figure 28).

Check that the cord moves freely through the 5. cord tether.

Replace Active End Cap CoversBefore installing the new cover, check that the cords 1. operate smoothly over the gears and are not tangled or twisted.

Slide on the cover until it snaps into place3. (see Figure 30).

Repeat on the opposite side.4.

Take up the slack in the cord loop and cut off the 5. excess cord.

Reinstall Headrail And SheersReinstall the headrail and sheers.1.

NOTE: See your Luminette® Owner's Guide for the procedures.

If the cord is too loose or the wand does not hang 2. straight, adjust the cord tension. Otherwise, skip to Reinstall Wand.

NOTE: Do not overadjust. The cord should be slightly loose.
