A Pricing Strategies for Maximizing Profits Presenter: Tom Shay, Profits Plus Solutions, Inc.

Looking for ways to increase your gross margin at your institution? Retailing has many rule-of-thumb guidelines. Many of these rules are used to determine the prices of merchandise sold in your retail boutique. Too often, these same rules call for taking the cost of an item and multiplying it by a certain factor. Using examples that attendees see and purchase in their everyday shopping experiences, this session will show you how to increase your margins while establishing and maintaining an image of being priced properly. Understanding how you make the determination when you buy will help you make the determinations when you price. Increased margins are sure to follow for those implementing these pricing strategies!

SATURDAY, JANUARY 24

8:30 am ..........................Registration/Information

8:30 – 9:00 am ...............Morning Coffee

9:00 – 10:oo am ..............Keynote Address WTCBWTPFT?

Darren Dalgleish, GM and CEO, St. Lawrence Parks Commission In 2011, the St. Lawrence Parks Commission, an agency that operates Fort Henry, Upper

Canada Village, a golf club, marina, several waterfront parks and campgrounds, was in deep economic trouble. The number of visitors were declining, the agency’s operating processes were inefficient, and employee engagement was at an all-time low. Change was needed! A strategic renewal plan was developed and coined “Alive in Five”. The plan was to execute a strategy that would see the agency achieve self-sufficiency within the span of five years. It’s motto was “would the customer be willing to pay for that?” It asked: “Who defines value? The customer. And what is value: Something the customer will pay for.” Perhaps most radically, the culture of the agency changed. Darren’s keynote will examine the business renewal/turnaround of the organization and the fundamental elements of Structural Business Renewal. Plan to attend to see if you and your institution are ready to embrace WTCBWTPFT.

About your speaker: With extensive experience in business renewal and development, Darren recently joined the St. Lawrence Parks Commission as CEO charged with executing a corporate transformation to create business sustainability. His leadership style is characterized by an open charm and willingness to listen to his employees. Darren has executive leadership experience in both the public and private sectors, including as the, President of Ifastgroupe Corporation, a company that designs, manufactures, imports and distributes engineered products for many industries, General Manager of Canadian Operations with Textron Canada, a global supplier of specialized fasteners and fastening solutions, Quality Engineering roles with Decoma Autosystems, and Chief Administrative Officer of the Town of Gananoque. Darren also speaks Spanish and is married with two children. Darren’s work at SLPC is award winning. Having been selected as one of 7 recipients in Canada to receive the Canadian Government Executive Leadership award, and Tourism Champion of the Year by Tourism Industry Association of Ontario (TIAO).

AGB’s brand promise “to embrace and celebrate creativity in all that we do” is at the core of their programs and services. Executing this promise includes three key elements:
