• No change in the MERIT form since last year
• Staff members have 10 working days to add their comments and/or sign the MERIT form
• Staff members are not obliged to sign the MERIT form
• After this delay, manual send-back of the document is not permitted.

MERIT form: Benchmark Job and Functions
• Benchmark Job:• The Benchmark Job (BMJ) is downloaded directly from the database
• For staff members with managerial responsibilities (e.g. DH GL, SL), a managerial BMJ is downloaded directly from the database
• Functions:• Functions are activities carried out in the framework of a staff member’s job
• Functions may also be activities carried out in the framework of a role
• Functions can be added to the free text field in the MERIT form

MERIT form: Roles
• Official responsibility, formally attributed to the staff member, which may be outside the framework of the staff member’s job and/or with distinct supervision (e.g. DSO, DTO)
• Aim of recording roles in the MERIT form:• To record activities which are not inherent to the staff member’s basic
functions
• To appraise the activities carried out in this context (where possible)
• To recognize the activity
• Roles can be added to the free text field in the MERIT form
• There is a list of roles available via the “Help” button, for guidance

Promotions and Changes of BMJ
• Promotions (Change of grade):• With staff contract 01.07.2021
• Eligible for performance reward
• Performance qualification of Strong or Outstanding
• Having performed activities of higher grade for at least 12 months (attested through a career review using the Promotion Guide)

• Award for Extraordinary Service (AES):• Awarded for particularly appreciated, time-limited services• Can be awarded individually or as a team• Individual award = 1000 – 5000 CHF; Team award = 500 – 5000 CHF• Can be awarded throughout the year
• Responsibility Award (RA):• Temporary award for staff members assuming responsibilities corresponding to a
higher grade for a specific amount of time• Awarded as a percentage of basic salary (maximum = 10%)• Can be awarded throughout the year
• Equity:• Measures introduced in 2018 to allow Organization to provide more flexible
reward possibilities in certain situations• Detailed information available in Proposals for use of Equity document (Admin e-
