Computer on Modules (COMs)Ka-Ro COMs are extremely small computers. In contrast to normal computer boards which in most cases have to be con-nected via cables, Computer on Modules are connected to the baseboard via standard connectors. This ensures robust and reliable operation even in extreme industrial applications.

Eval- and Development Kits All Ka-Ro Development Kits are development-oriented pack-ages containing a Computer on Module, a BSP support pack-age, and a baseboard. Ka-Ro Development Kits have been created to support your requirements regarding speedy pro-totyping and faster time to market. All Ka-Ro Development Kits include Ka-Ro installation support.

Board Support Package (BSP) Having a dedicated BSP and dedicated software means a world of difference for your Computer on Module. Ka-Ro COMs combine ARM processors, RAM, flash and power management into a small and proven design. Ka-Ro COMs are connected to a baseboard with a standard connector for our TX Family or soldered down with our new QS Family. Both families ensure a robust and reliable operation in the most extreme industrial applications.

Board Support Package (BSP)

Ka-Ro develops BSPs for all modules, with the specific drivers needed, all optimized for performance in production. Our in-house software development team updates our BSPs so you always start developing with the latest Linux or Windows Embedded software. Your advantage: No need for extra software overhead in your system, and you begin application development immediately.

Development Kits

Ka-Ro Development Kits support your requirements for speedy prototyping and faster time to market. All Ka-Ro Development Kits contain a COM, BSP and a baseboard with connectors and power. Complete schematics and bill of material for the baseboard are included, as is installation support directly from Ka-Ro engineers. Hardware and software development begins immediately, in parallel, as soon as you buy a kit.

Long Term Availability

Ka-Ro COMs are designed into industrial products, typically with long product lifecycles. All COMs in this catalog have a minimum of 12 years of availability from processor release. Ka-Ro updates COM hardware and software to ensure compatibility throughout your product lifecycle.

Ka-Ro has developed Windows Embedded BSPs for over a decade, and has continued this support with a BSP for the TX8M Mini and QS8M Mini modules. Windows 10 IoT core is optimized for small devices with or without a display, and is designed specifically for Internet of Things Edge devices. It provides complete software security, Over-the-Air (OTA) services and seamless connectivity to Microsoft Azure Cloud. 10 years of support is available through the Windows Long-term Servicing Channel, including security and reliability updates to keep device security up to date.
