Business Case – The WHY?
7www.agribusinesscorner.co.za l (031) 023 0079 l [email protected]
Land Degradation, caused by excessive use of synthetic fertilisers leading to- Poor Yields
Food Insecurity, insufficient quantity of affordable, nutritious food - High Prices (organic)
Poor Waste Management,Landfills are getting full and causing air pollution leading to- Diseases/High Maintenance
Unemployment – Irrelevant/Outdated Education System - Lack/Poverty
20202. PROJECT SCOPE

HOW does it work?
12www.agribusinesscorner.co.za l (031) 023 0079 l [email protected]
Project Process1. You start by booking for training and attend 2. Then buy your starter pack which will get
you get started3. You set-up your farm while waiting for your
starter pack delivery (which can take 60 days)
4. Start production process as soon as you receive your stock
5. Manage your farm and harvest quarterly 6. Weigh and package your worms properly 7. Sell to ABC and make your payment on the
following month after collection - then repeat the production process
Production• Production is calculated based on the 3m2
(3m x 1m) size worm-bed ABC model. However, growers can chose to work on more square meters.
• Recommended initial stock to start with is 10kgs/m2, meaning 30kgs of worms for 3m2 bed.
• Worms eat half the size of their body weight and they feed on animal manure.
• Worms double their population in 3 months, and self regulate when space is limited. Therefore, harvesting is crucial every 3 months.
20207. PROJECT TARGETS
HOW MUCH quantities and costs required?
