The Cardiovascular Medicine Division at Stanford University features diverse faculty and provides opportunities for research in many cardiovascular subspecialties. Stanford’s Center for Cardiovascular Technology (CCVT) facilities include animal laboratories, device development programs, and participation in multi-center cardiology trials, which are supported by Core Angiographic and Intravascular Ultrasound Laborato-ries. Visiting Scholars to Stanford’s CCVT represent many countries and a variety of research disciplines, resulting in a stimulating and productive research environment.

CARDIOVASCULAR RESEARCH   SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM- THE 23RD TRANS-PACIFIC RESEARCH OPPORTUNITY -

The Cardiovascular Division at Stanford University Medical Center, together with Abbott Vascular Japan Co., Ltd., are pleased to announce the twenty-third annual scholarship program for Japanese interventional cardiologists. The Cardiovascular Research Scholarship Program has been established to provide a unique opportunity for mutual collaboration between American and Japanese physicians in the field of Cardiovascular Medicine.

Study ProgramStudy programs are designed for a one-year period. Potential subjects of study include:・ Training in advanced diagnostic techniques (such as intravascular

ultrasound, optical coherence tomography, coronary physiology with intracoronary pressure and/or flow measurements, cardiac MRI, and CT angiography)

・ Engagement in US and international multicenter clinical trials as core lab image interpreters

・ Designing and implementing the original research using advanced diagnostic techniques

・ Help accelerate the clinical research projects and the delivery of new findings into patient care

・ Broad exposure to clinical imaging modalities and facilities within the Stanford University Medical Center

・ All educational activities are complemented by workshops on study design, biostatistics, biomedical ethics, and grant/manuscript writing

・ Have access to a wide range of courses and seminars to enhance their primary fields of research throughout Stanford University and the Schools of Medicine and Engineering

The Scholarship will provide salary funding for one year.

Study PeriodOne year from June 1st, 2020(start date negotiable)

Criteria for ApplicationApplicants should have an interest in interventional vascular medicine. Appli-cations will be accepted from physicians with at least three years of profes-sional experience working in the field of cardiology. Applicants must have the ability to communicate and write in English.

Application Procedure

I. Cardiovascular Research Scholarship Program ApplicationPlease contact the Stanford Scholarship Program O�ce to obtain an application form. Applications must contain the following documents in English. - A One-Page Biographical Summary - Short Essay Describing Research Interests - One Letter of Recommendation - Curriculum Vitae - Completed Application Form (Application materials will not be returned.)

II. Application DeadlineApplications should arrive by December 25th 2019 at the Stanford Scholarship Program O�ce. Selected applicants will be contacted to coordinate an interview with menbers of the Selection Committee. Potential research projects for the one-year study period will be discussed in more detail during the interview, on January 25th 2020. Applicants will be notified by the end of February, 2020.
