Developing Support RelationshipsFrom the beginning, missionaries from CRC congregations have developed support relationships.

• In the 1920’s Johanna Veenstra wrote letters and articles to congregations back home.

• In the 1950’s one church covered the entire cost of the Rubinghs serving in Nigeria.

Ministry Shares Still Provide a Significant Base for Missionaries

• Many missionaries with other agencies have to raise 115% of their actual costs.

• Ministry Shares provide leadership, fundraising and support, including continuing education, travel, and some housing costs.

• Ministry Shares also cover unique costs for families with children and those just beginning missionary service.

Ministry Shares Never Covered the Full CRWM Budget

• In 1961 Ministry Shares covered 2/3 of CRWM’s budget.

• Today, Ministry Shares only cover 1/3 of CRWM’s budget.

• Giving is shifting from general donations to missionary-specific gifts.

Ministry Shares Buy Less and Less

• Percent of requested Ministry Shares sent in by churches:

1990 – 78% 2013 – 62%• Inflation reduced

Ministry Shares purchasing power by about 50% since 1990.

There is Still a Lot of Work to be Done

• The Great Commission continues to drive us.• Reducing the number of career missionaries

reduces our capacity to do ministry.• No method of mission funding is more

important than the mission itself.

What Are the Results?

• More missionaries are being appointed than before: Eight new career or associate positions this year.

• Most missionaries are on track with meeting their goals.
