If you need to sign up or change your health insurance for 2020, now is the time! e 2020 Open Enrollment period for Marketplace health insurance runs from Friday, November 1st to Sunday, December 15, 2019. November 1, 2019: Open Enrollment started — first day to enroll, re-enroll, or change a 2020 insurance plan through the Health Insurance Marketplace. Habitat for Humanity Portland/Metro East offers affordable homeownership to homebuyers that meet the following program requirements: • First time homebuyer • U.S. citizen or permanent resident. • Steady income and decent credit history. • Household income between 35%- 60% of the Area Median Income for Portland • Applicants must have a combined annual gross income that is at least $30,000 • 2 years of steady work history for any employment income. What are the program requirements? • Homebuyers complete a total of 300 sweat equity hours. Sweat equity refers to the actual hands-on involvement of Habitat partner homebuyers in the construction of their own homes, as well as participation in other Habitat and community activities. All sweat equity hours must be completed before pre-approved homebuyers purchase their home. Additional program requirements include homeownership education classes and community Need money for college, starting or expanding a business or home repairs? Save First Financial Wellness, a program of Catholic Charities, is currently enrolling clients in their IDA Matched Savings Program. Many Habitat homeowners use the IDA Program for down-payment or closing cost assistance but the program covers many additional categories such as: home repair, education, small business development or vehicle purchase. e money you save is matched with additional money from the program, providing more money to use toward your purchase. Depending on the asset type, your money could be matched $3 or $8 dollars for every $1 that you contribute to the account. On Saturday, September 14th, Habitat for Humanity Portland Metro/ East hosted our fourth annual homeownership fair celebrating current and future Habitat homeowners and home repair program participants. Over 80 people attended the fun-filled event with delicious food, family portraits, entertainment and prizes. Participants asked experts at the Portland Bureau of Emergency Management advice on how to prepare for a disaster. anks to our experts for sharing their time and talents and to the following partners for their contributions to the event: Rejuvenation, Andy & Bax, New Relic, Habitat for Humanity Portland/Metro East Ambassador Council, Portland NET, Costco, PBEM, New Seasons Market, and the KGW Great Toy Drive.
