2020 Dodge Challenger / Challenger SRT TIMELINE

Dodge Challenger: 50 Years and Zero Chance of Growing Up When the Dodge Challenger first entered in the muscle car ranks of Detroit’s Big Three in 1969, it arrived with something its competitors didn’t have: the greatest range of powertrain choices in the industry, from the small but durable 225-cubic-inch “Slant Six” to the fearsome “Elephant Motor” — the 426 HEMI®. A half-century later, Dodge Challenger still leads the pack with the most powerful muscle car powertrains in the industry — ranging from the Pentastar V-6 to the fastest most powerful muscle car, the 797-horsepower Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye. With its iconic styling, class-leading power and unmatched performance, Dodge Challenger continues to add to its rich legacy, creating one of the most storied nameplates in automotive history. Dodge Challenger’s 50-year legacy includes: 1970 The Dodge Challenger debuted in fall 1969 as a 1970 model. While it shared Chrysler’s “E-body” short-deck, long-hood platform with the third-generation Plymouth Barracuda, the Challenger’s wheelbase was 2 inches longer, creating more interior space. The Dodge Challenger was offered as a two-door hardtop or convertible in base, SE (Special Edition), R/T (Road/Track) and T/A (Trans-Am) trims. But it was the range of powertrain choices that was truly remarkable:

● 225-cubic-inch I-6; 145 horsepower

● 318-cubic-inch V-8; 230 horsepower

● 340-cubic-inch V-8; 275 horsepower (290 horsepower in the T/A)

● 383-cubic-inch V-8; 290 horsepower

● 383-cubic-inch V-8; 330 horsepower

● 383-cubic-inch V-8; 335 horsepower

● 426-cubic-inch HEMI V-8; 425 horsepower

● 440-cubic-inch V-8; 375 horsepower

● 440-cubic-inch V-8; 390 horsepower

Driveline choices for various engines included Chrysler’s TorqueFlite automatic transmission and a three- or four-speed manual transmission, which could be equipped with a Hurst “pistol-grip” shifter. Big-block Challengers could be ordered with a heavy-duty Dana 60 axle equipped with a limited-slip differential. Even the paint schemes said “performance,” with colors, including Plum Crazy and HEMI Orange, accented with “bumblebee” stripes. Customers could further customize their cars with twin-scooped hoods, “shaker” hoods and deck-lid wings. Befitting the brand’s performance heritage, Dodge raced the Challenger in its first year on the market. For the street, it was offered in the limited-edition T/A model to meet homologation requirements for Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) Trans-Am racing. The T/A was one of the first production vehicles to offer staggered size tires in the front and back; E60 x 15-inch front and G60 x 15-inch rear. In 1970, Sam Posey drove the lone Trans-Am racing Challenger, prepared and run by Ray Caldwell’s Autodynamics Race Shop. While he didn’t win a race in the No. 77 car, Posey finished fourth overall in points. Drag racers, including Dick Landy and Ted Spehar, campaigned Challengers in the National Hot Rod Association’s new Pro Stock class. In 1970 and 1971, the HEMI-powered Challengers (and Plymouth ‘Cudas) virtually ruled the class. On the big screen, a 1970 Challenger R/T starred in the film “Vanishing Point,” a high-speed pursuit movie that has become a cult favorite with muscle-car fans. The movie was remade for television in 1997. Other 1970 Dodge Challengers have been seen in films, including “Used Cars,” “Natural Born Killers” and “Phantasm I” and “Phantasm II”; and in television shows, including “The Mod Squad.” For the 1970 model year, more than 83,000 Dodge Challengers were sold. 1971 Designers made subtle styling changes to the Dodge Challenger, providing new treatments to the taillamps and grille. The single taillamp design from 1970 became two distinct lights for 1971, and a new-for-1971 twin-inlet Challenger grille was painted silver on standard models and black on R/Ts.

Challenger R/T models also received a set of fiberglass quarter-panel louvers. An additional coupe model with fixed quarter windows was added to the lineup. As in 1970, a wide range of trim levels, exterior colors and striping options made the Dodge Challenger easy for customers to create a special car. However, for 1971, Dodge dropped the T/A (it was no longer racing in Trans-Am), SE models and R/T convertible. New EPA emission standards led to some powertrain changes; the optional 375-horsepower 440-cubic-inch V-8 was eliminated, as was the Six Pack-equipped 340-cubic-inch V-8. The 383-cubic-inch Magnum V-8 was detuned to 300 horsepower by lowering the compression ratio for improved emissions. However, a 390 horsepower Six Pack 440 V-8 was available, and the 425-horsepower 426-cubic-inch HEMI V-8 still topped the vast engine offerings. A Dodge Challenger paced the 1971 Indianapolis 500 race. Dodge produced 50 Challenger convertible pace car replicas—all painted HEMI Orange with white tops and interiors. 1972 With escalating insurance rates and new EPA emissions mandates, more changes came to the Dodge Challenger. Also, the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) revised the torque and horsepower rating test from a “gross” to a “net” as installed in the cars. This reduced all ratings 20 to 30 percent, making them non-comparable to previous ratings. Only three engines were available in the 1972 Dodge Challenger: the 225-cubic-inch Slant Six with 110 horsepower, the 318-cubic-inch V-8 with 150 horsepower and the 340-cubic-inch V-8 with 240 horsepower. All were equipped to use the then-new unleaded fuel. With convertible sales in steady decline over several years, the 1972 Dodge Challenger was offered in hardtop form only. The sunroof had become a more popular alternative and was offered as an option for more than $400. New front-end styling featured a larger “egg-crate” grille. It was painted argent for standard Challengers and black on the Challenger Rallye performance model, which replaced the R/T. The Challenger’s taillamp design included twin lights on each side, with the center panel painted the same color as the grille. The Rallye model was equipped with four small scoops on the front fenders.

1973 Beginning in 1973, the federal government mandated new bumper-impact standards that resulted in the only changes to the Dodge Challenger exterior — 5-mile-per-hour (mph) bumpers equipped with large rubber guards that extended out from the bodywork. Inside, grained vinyl was the only available seating material, but a new instrument-cluster design was part of the Rallye option package. The Rallye was eliminated as a separate model, although customers could create one with options. Under the hood, the six-cylinder engine was no longer available; the 150-horsepower 318-cubic-inch V-8 was standard, with the 240-horsepower 340-cubic-inch V-8 as the only option. 1974 With performance car insurance rates skyrocketing, more safety equipment led the short list of changes for Dodge Challengers. Inside, lap and shoulder belts were equipped with an inertia reel. In addition, there was a federally mandated seat belt-ignition interlock, which prevented the car from being started if the driver or passenger didn’t buckle up. The Dodge Challenger offered a different engine option for 1974. With the 318-cubic-inch V-8 still standard, a 360-cubic-inch V-8 producing 245 horsepower replaced the 340-cubic-inch V-8 as the only engine option. Challenger production ceased in April 1974. During a five-year span, about 188,600 Dodge Challengers were sold. 1978-1984 Beginning in 1978 — the year the U.S. Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) standard took effect — Dodge offered a new Challenger two-door coupe, produced by Mitsubishi and imported from Japan. It was offered with a standard 1.6-liter, 77-horsepower I-4 engine and a 2.6-liter, 105-horsepower four-cylinder as an option. Redesigned in 1981, the Dodge Challenger continued on until 1984. During its six-year run, sales of the imported Dodge Challenger averaged between 12,000 and 14,000 units per year.

2006 At the North American International Auto Show in Detroit in January 2006, Dodge unveiled the Challenger concept to immediate acclaim. Based on the Dodge Charger’s advanced rear-wheel-drive platform and legendary HEMI V-8 engine, the Challenger concept featured the long hood, short deck, wide stance and two-door coupe body-style that resembled the iconic Challengers of the 1970s. Over the next several months, the company received numerous pleas from consumers and the media to build the car. 2008 The Dodge Challenger returned to the street with the all-new 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8® unveiled at the Chicago Auto Show. Closely resembling the 2006 concept, the 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8 offered all that muscle car fanatics crave: ground-shaking performance, unmistakable design cues reminiscent of the original Challenger, world-class ride and handling characteristics and benchmark braking. The Dodge Challenger SRT8’s 425 horsepower and 420 lb.-ft. of torque came from the proven 6.1-liter HEMI V-8 engine. Its 69.8 horsepower-per-liter rating exceeded that of the legendary 1966 “Street HEMI.” Dodge Challenger SRT8 carried a five-link independent rear suspension and 20-inch fully forged Alcoa aluminum wheels with four-season Goodyear Eagle RS-A or optional three-season Goodyear F1 Supercar tires. All four wheels were equipped with red painted Brembo calipers. The 6,400 Dodge Challenger SRT8 models built for the 2008 model year were available in HEMI Orange, Bright Silver Metallic and Brilliant Black Crystal Pearl exterior paint colors. Interior highlights included race-inspired leather seats with added bolstering and an exclusive red accent stripe, exclusive stitched accents on the seats and steering wheel, tachometer and 180-mph speedometer. An SRT-exclusive Reconfigurable Display (RCD) with Performance Pages provided drivers instant feedback on zero to 60 mph time, 60 to zero mph braking, g-forces and 1/4-mile time and limited-edition numbered dash plaque. The first production 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8 was sold at the 37th annual Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction with a winning bid placed by Craig Jackson, Chairman/CEO of the Barrett-Jackson Auction Company of $400,000. All of the proceeds went to charity.

2009 The introduction of the all-new 2009 Dodge Challenger SE and R/T models at the New York International Auto Show delivered the full lineup of Dodge Challengers to the marketplace. From the maximum Dodge Challenger SRT8, to the performance of the Challenger R/T with its 5.7-liter HEMI V-8, to the cutting-edge technology of Challenger SE with the efficient 3.5-liter V-6 engine, the 2009 Dodge Challenger offered a full menu of options for every customer. Adding even more capability than the 2008 model, the 2009 Dodge Challenger SRT8 with its powerful 6.1-liter HEMI V-8 offered a six-speed manual transmission, in addition to the proven five-speed automatic with AutoStick. The Tremec TR-6060 six-speed was matched with a race-inspired dual-disc clutch that was first offered on the 2008 Dodge Viper SRT10. The new 2009 Dodge Challenger R/T tucked its legendary 5.7-liter HEMI V-8 engine under a long, raised performance hood with functional scoops to increase engine cooling. The newest-generation 5.7-liter HEMI V-8 engine featured dual Variable-cam Timing (VCT) and dual ignition (two spark plugs per cylinder) to increase power and torque, while improving refinement and efficiency. When paired with the automatic transmission, the new-generation 5.7-liter HEMI V-8 included the fuel-saving Multi-displacement System (MDS) allowing Dodge Challenger R/T Classic to operate economically on four cylinders, or produce 372 horsepower and 401 lb.-ft. of torque when all eight cylinders are engaged. With its “pistol grip” shifter, the six-speed manual transmission Dodge Challenger R/T featured a performance-tuned dual exhaust with optimized engine back pressure and two low-restriction bottle resonators for maximum “throatiness.” The result, even more power at tap with 376 horsepower and 410 lb.-ft. of torque ready to accelerate the Dodge Challenger R/T from zero to 60 mph in less than 6 seconds. The new 2009 Dodge Challenger SE powered by the 3.5-liter High Output V-6 with a four-speed automatic transmission produced 250 horsepower and 250 lb.-ft. of torque. Halfway through the 2009 model year, the Dodge Challenger R/T Classic offered menacing looks and, combined with the 5.7-liter V-8 engine, an unforgettable punch. The Challenger R/T Classic featured dual throwback A-line body-side R/T stripes in Matte Black, ‘Challenger’ fender badging in classic script, 20-inch polished-chrome heritage wheels, classic egg-crate grille with heritage ‘R/T’ badge, body-color rear spoiler and bright racing style fuel filler door.

The 2009 Dodge Challenger SE Rallye added even more excitement with a more responsive five-speed automatic transmission (implemented as standard equipment on all mid-year Challenger SEs), throw-back hood and deck-lid dual stripes with accent color outer stripes, bright racing style fuel filler door, 18-inch Rallye wheels with all-season performance tires, body-color deck-lid spoiler and Micro Carbon interior accents. Original B5 Blue returned from the Dodge paint code archive for a limited-edition run of Challenger R/T Classic and Challenger SRT8 models. Based on the production Dodge Challenger SRT8, Mopar offered a modern factory-prepped Challenger Drag Race Package Car (as a special body-in-white). To reduce vehicle weight, major production components and systems were eliminated, including the windshield wiper assembly, HVAC system, all airbag components, rear seats, power steering system, exhaust system and underbody heat shields, cross-car and side-impact door beams, rear-bumper beam and rear deck-lid spoiler. The package car offered three engine options— 6.1-liter or 5.7-liter HEMI or 5.9-liter Magnum Wedge V-8s, as well as manual or automatic transmission options. 2010 The 2010 Dodge Challenger R/T and Challenger R/T Classic added more performance and excitement with the Super Track Pack. This handling package includes 20-inch Goodyear Eagle F1 Super Car tires, front and rear Nivomat self-leveling shock-absorbers, a larger rear stabilizer bar, a 3.06 rear-axle ratio, performance brake linings and enthusiast-desired “ESC-off” stability calibration. The 2010 model year also included the Dodge Challenger R/T Classic and SRT8 Detonator Yellow and Plum Crazy editions. The Dodge Challenger R/T Classic in Plum Crazy Pearl Coat is the first limited-edition to offer dual throwback A-line body-side R/T stripes in Matte Black or new bright white, while the SRT8 editions feature unique SRT-designed appointments and unique SRT performance seats with accented stripe. Two of the wildest and rarest 2010 Dodge Challenger special editions also debuted to celebrate 40 years of Challenger: the 2010 Dodge Challenger R/T Classic and Challenger SRT8 Furious Fuchsia editions. With Furious Fuchsia Pearl Coat exterior paint and all-new Pearl White leather performance seats, these limited-edition Dodge Challengers deliver the best of modern American muscle-car characteristics—now in one of the most significant hues.

2011 The 2011 Dodge Challenger was one of 16 all-new or significantly improved vehicles the Chrysler Group introduced for 2011, one of six from the Dodge brand alone. The new 2011 Challenger combined world-class ride, refinement and braking performance with more power and new track-tuned suspensions. Updated to handle the new 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 engine’s 305 horsepower — 55 more horsepower than the previous V-6 engine — and a responsive 268 lb.-ft. of torque, the 2011 Dodge Challenger SE carried a new road-gripping touring-tuned suspension with wider 18-inch wheels and tires and delivered 27 miles per gallon (mpg) on the highway. For the performance enthusiast, the 2011 Dodge Challenger R/T had the legendary 5.7-liter HEMI V-8 engine with four-cylinder Fuel Saver mode delivering up to 376 horsepower and 410 lb.-ft. of torque and got up to 25 mpg with the Tremec six-speed manual transmission. With the introduction of the legendary 392-cubic-inch HEMI V-8, the 2011 Dodge Challenger SRT8 392 pumped out 470 horsepower and 470 lb.-ft. of torque, a 45 horsepower and 50 lb.-ft. of torque increase compared with the previous generation’s 6.1-liter HEMI engine. However, impressive straight-line acceleration was just part of the performance story, as world-class ride and handling, high-performance braking and the latest technology that delivered improved fuel efficiency, resulted in the newest version of the quickest coupe in the Dodge product lineup. The second-generation E-segment architecture included redesigned front- and rear-suspension geometries and premium suspension hardware with isolated, lightweight front- and rear-suspension cradles that created a rigid assembly. At the front cradle, new monotube shock absorbers, springs and a repositioned lower-front shock-to-suspension-link bushing delivered improved control, ride and comfort. At the rear, the Challenger’s five-link rear-suspension design featured new roll-steer geometry, allowing independent control of camber and toe suspension movement. Performance-driven exterior enhancements included a restyled trapezoidal front air dam with a larger opening that increased engine cooling. Additional downforce was provided with a larger “duck bill” front spoiler. For a touch of nostalgia, Challenger’s iconic bright racing-style fuel-filler door and dual chromed exhaust tips became standard. The interior of the 2011 Dodge Challenger was significantly upgraded as well. A new thick-rimmed three-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel featured Silver Metallic painted spokes, and back-lit Electronic Vehicle Information Center (EVIC) and available Uconnect Voice Command controls. Dodge Challenger’s trapezoidal race-inspired instrument panel featured a new four-bomb gauge cluster with chromed accent rings, new sport-themed graphics, and a new four-line display EVIC. Redesigned seat

structures with improved cushioning and more comfortable contours, and Dodge Challenger’s new Nappa leather seating surfaces provided a premium look and feel. Limited-edition paint colors for 2011 Challenger models included the eye-catching Green With Envy available on Challenger R/T Classic and SRT8 models in limited numbers. Additionally, Dodge built 1,492 inaugural edition models of the Challenger SRT8 392, all with exclusive content and color schemes: Deep Water Blue with standard Stone White stripes or Bright White Clear Coat with standard Viper Blue stripes. 2012 For 2012, the Challenger lineup was renamed to give the Dodge brand an even more consistent product portfolio focused on performance and value. The Dodge Challenger SXT model and Challenger SXT Plus featured the lightweight aluminum 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 engine, while the 5.7-liter HEMI V-8 engine was still found under the hood of the Challenger R/T models. Dodge Challenger SXT Plus and R/T models with the five-speed Auto Stick transmission were now available with die-cast zinc steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters. The Dodge Challenger SRT8 received significant upgrades to its suspension and braking hardware. An adaptive damping suspension (ADS) system was new for 2012 and tuned specifically for the Dodge Challenger SRT8 392. Set in “Auto” mode, the suspension automatically adjusted for specific driving conditions. In “Sport” mode, the damping system rebound and compression was locked at a higher damping rate for more spirited driving. Sitting a half-inch lower than non-SRT models, the 2012 Challenger SRT8 392 rode on either the standard five-spoke, 20-inch fully forged aluminum wheels or available seven-spoke, 20-inch lightweight forged aluminum wheels with Satin Black painted pockets. A standard SRT performance brake package featured 14.2-inch (front) and 13.8-inch (rear) vented/slotted rotors with four-piston Brembo fixed calipers painted red. The three-mode electronic stability control (ESC) system included four-wheel anti-lock braking system, all-speed traction control, electronic brake-force distribution, Brake Assist and Hill-start Assist (HSA). Limited-edition paint colors for 2012 Challenger models included the Stinger Yellow on Challenger R/T Classic and SRT8 Yellow Jacket models. Based on the 2012 Dodge Challenger SRT8 392, an exclusive production run of limited-edition Challenger SRT8 Yellow Jacket models featured a Stinger Yellow body-color and black grille surround to match the standard black body-side stripes that highlighted the Yellow Jacket logo on the rear fender. Unique 20-by-9-inch, five-spoke cast-aluminum wheels with black painted pockets provided

a performance look. Inside, the standard leather seats featured an exclusive Stinger Yellow accent band with embroidered Yellow Jacket logo and silver accent stitching. The driver’s seat also featured a fully adjustable lumbar position with seatback tilt, memory and an easy-to-reach release handle, while the front-passenger seat added tilt and slide with memory, which made it even easier for passengers to get in and out of the back seat. 2013 The 2013 Dodge Challenger lineup consisted of the SXT and SXT Plus models with the standard 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 engine, and the R/T, R/T Plus and R/T Classic models featured the 5.7-liter HEMI V-8. The Dodge Challenger SRT8 model carried over from the previous year. The 2013 model year saw the introduction of a design element to Dodge Challenger — the Rallye Redline model based on the Challenger SXT Plus. Flanking the center of the Dodge Challenger Rallye Redline’s performance hood scoops, roof and deck lid was its signature Redline Red stripe with two thin side stripes for added detail. A body-color deck-lid spoiler added to the performance look, while continuing the Redline Red triple stripe pattern at the center. The Dodge Challenger Rallye Redline included unique 20-inch black chrome wheels with a Redline Red lip and inner backbone. Also new for 2013 was the addition of the 2013 Dodge Challenger R/T Blacktop model with black chrome 20-inch wheels with performance tires, a black grille and the Super Track Pak with high-performance-steering gear and brake linings, Goodyear Eagle F1 three-season tires and a three-mode ESC with “full off” mode. An improved adaptive damping suspension (ADS) system expanded to three modes on 2013 Dodge Challenger SRT8 models. ADS “Auto” and “Sport” modes carried over and a new “Track” mode provided higher damping rates combined with a performance shifting and gear holding feature that allowed the driver full shift control when using the steering-wheel-mounted paddle controls or Auto Stick. The addition of launch control was also new for 2013 Dodge Challenger SRT8 and worked on both manual and automatic transmission equipped models for optimal straight-line acceleration. Limited-edition paint colors included head-turning HEMI Orange and highly nostalgic Plum Crazy paint colors on all HEMI-powered Dodge Challenger models. 2014 The Dodge Challenger served as the perfect foundation to celebrate 100 years of Dodge style and performance. Based on the 2014 Dodge Challenger SXT Plus and R/T Plus models, the 100th Anniversary Edition Challenger paid tribute to the brand’s history in contemporary Dodge style.

The 100th Anniversary Edition Challenger was available in eight exterior paint colors, including Pitch Black, Bright White, Billet Silver, Granite Crystal, Ivory Tri-Coat, Phantom Black Tri-Coat, Header Orange and an exclusive High Octane Red Pearl Coat. For added detail, commemorative bar style “Dodge Est. 1914” front-fender badges and Dodge “100” wheel center caps marked this special edition. The interior’s exclusive Molten Red or Foundry Black heated Nappa leather sport seats featured a custom cloud overprint. Brass colored accent stitching and die-cast “Dodge Est. 1914” circular badges gave the 2014 Dodge Challenger 100th Anniversary Editions an exclusive, high-end appearance that also drew inspiration from the machinist heritage of John and Horace Dodge. Injecting a fresh shot of heritage into the Challenger lineup, the 2014 R/T Shaker model featured unique throwback muscle-car cues that link directly to Dodge brand’s performance legacy. As the model name suggests, the legendary “cold-air grabbing” Shaker not only looked good with its Satin Black center-mounted hood scoop, snorkeling up from the engine compartment, it also directed cooler air back into the HEMI V-8 engine. And like the original 1970 Challenger R/T with the Shaker hood, the 2014 model continued the Dodge tradition of an engine-mounted hood scoop that “shakes” with the powertrain’s movement. Taking the new Dodge Challenger R/T Shaker one step further, Mopar offered the Mopar ’14 Challenger – the rarest limited-production Challenger model with only 100 produced – each with a distinct “Moparized” look which included Bright White or Gloss Black exterior paint highlighted by the Shaker style stripe in Mopar Blue. For an even more customized look, two additional Mopar Blue stripe options were available, including a rocker panel bodyside triple stripe with “MOPAR” across the doors and a unique A-line bodyside stripe that wraps over the deck lid and included the Mopar Omega M logo on the rear-quarter. Other unique design elements included 20-by-8-inch Gloss Black aluminum wheels with Mopar center caps, while a Dark Slate interior embellished with unique Mopar appointments and Mopar Blue accent thread and Mopar Omega M logos embroidered on the seat backs. Additionally, Mopar Blue thread made the Mopar ’14 even more distinctive. For customers preferring contemporary Dodge style and attitude, the Challenger R/T Redline package added even more attitude and style on R/T or R/T Plus models. Following Dodge Challenger’s signature A-line bodyside character line, a two-color Redline Red and Graphite stripe ran from behind the front wheel arches to the tail. For a distinctive look, the rear-quarter section of the stripe featured the Redline name in red over graphite color scheme. The R/T Redline also features a body-color grille surround and unique 20-inch Black Chrome wheels with a Redline Red lip and inner backbone.

Additionally, Dodge Challenger SXT Plus, Rallye Redline and R/T models now offered projector-beam high-intensity discharge (HID) headlamps. The 2014 model year continued the tradition of classic colors by bringing TorRed and Plum Crazy heritage paint hues back into production. In addition, Header Orange and Redline 3 Coat returned and joined Jazz Blue, Ivory Tri-coat and Phantom Black Tri-coat Pearl. For 2014, the 8 was dropped from the name and the highest-performing model in the lineup was now called Dodge Challenger SRT. This was to align the naming of all SRT models in the Chrysler Group. Big news for the Dodge Challenger SRT was the addition of the Core model. With standard premium Ballistic cloth interior from the new SRT Viper, SRT-tuned sport suspension and distinctive exterior accents, the Core models were designed and built with the back-to-basics performance-driving enthusiast in mind. 2015 Newly consolidated Dodge and SRT brands launched straight out of the gate at full throttle – introducing the most powerful muscle car ever — the new 707-horsepower 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat and its stablemate, the 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT – just a few months after taking the wraps off the new Dodge Challenger 392 HEMI Scat Pack Shaker at the New York International Auto Show. For 2015, the supercharged 707-horsepower 6.2-liter HEMI Hellcat V-8 was the highest rated of any V-8 engine in Chrysler Group’s celebrated history. The all-new V-8 engine was mated with an upgraded six-speed manual transmission or a beefy, new TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic – the first such gearbox ever offered in the Dodge Challenger SRT’s time-honored segment. The breakthrough Hellcat supercharged engine featured a forged-steel crankshaft with induction-hardened bearing surfaces. The result is a crank so well-engineered it can withstand firing pressures of 110 bar (1,595 psi) – the equivalent of five family sedans standing on each piston, every two revolutions. And its unique, specially tuned crank damper has been tested to 13,000 rpm. The new supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI V-8 has premium-grade, heat-treated aluminum-alloy cylinder heads that are optimized for superior thermal conductivity. And its die-cast aluminum rocker covers are HEMI Orange.

New anti-lock braking system (ABS), ESC and traction control systems were uniquely tuned and configurable for specific tire and powertrain configurations. Dodge and SRT designers and engineers spent 35 percent more time in the Chrysler Group’s full-scale wind tunnel in Auburn Hills, Michigan, (compared with the previous-generation Dodge Challenger SRT) developing and further refining the aggressive and functional exteriors on the Challenger SRT and Challenger SRT Hellcat. At the front, new fascia designs and all-new vertical-split grille provide a menacing update of its 1971 inspiration. A larger, power-bulge aluminum hood features a dedicated “cold-air” intake – a visual styling cue from the first Viper coupe built in 1996. The hood on the new Dodge Challenger SRT with a Hellcat engine also includes dual air extractors to ensure effective removal of heat and reduced air turbulence in the engine compartment. Both models of the Challenger SRT feature all-aluminum hoods designed to reduce weight. Another key design element on the Challenger SRT Hellcat is the exclusive Air Catcher inlet port, which feeds ram-air directly into the engine air box through the driver-side parking lamp. All-new quad projector headlamps give a more detailed appearance, while a more aggressive brow “chops” the upper portion of the lamp design for an even more sinister attitude. The Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat featured a larger front splitter designed for optimal downforce to minimize lift. A new duck-bill fascia splitter helped improve the vehicle’s aerodynamics. Around the back, the 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT recalled the historic 1971 model’s styling with a new split tail-lamp design and rear fascia. The tail lamps feature the new signature LED graphic with its smooth glow of light that can be seen from blocks away. A redesigned rear valance helped the 2015 Challenger SRT models look more planted on the ground. A unique, taller rear spoiler on the SRT Hellcat features a raised SRT logo. Inside the 2015 Dodge Challenger had an all-new enthusiast-centric cockpit with world-class materials, execution and technology. Key elements are inspired by the interior of the 1971 Challenger. 2018 Dodge shook the foundation of the entire performance car industry, launching New York International Auto Show week with its wickedly fast new 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon – highly capable on the street, absolutely dominating at the drag strip. Powered by the 840-horsepower, supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI Demon V-8, the limited-production Challenger SRT Demon is the world’s most powerful factory-production V-8 – bar none. NHRA-certified 9.65 seconds @ 140 mph makes the Dodge Challenger SRT Demon the fastest ¼-mile car in the world. Performance numbers:

● 0-30 mph: 1.0 second ● 0-60 mph: 2.3 seconds ● Quarter-mile: 9.65 seconds @ 140 mph

The Challenger SRT Demon also is the world’s first production car to lift the front wheels at launch and set the world record for longest wheelie from a standing start by a production car at 2.92 feet, certified by Guinness World Records. And hold onto your seat. The Challenger SRT Demon also registers the highest g-force (1.8 g) ever recorded at launch in a production car. The Challenger SRT Demon’s record-setting performance is the result of collaboration among the Dodge//SRT, Design, Engineering, Powertrain and Manufacturing teams inside FCA US LLC, many of whom are experienced and active drag racers. While the 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon remains a potent street car, every component was scrutinized and optimized for weight, capability and durability on the strip. The performance records flow from an impressive list of street-legal production car industry firsts. That list includes:

● Factory-installed wider, Nitto street-legal drag radials for improved grip, 40 percent more launch force compared with SRT Hellcat tires

● Available Direct Connection engine controller calibrated for 100+ unleaded high-octane fuel ● SRT Power Chiller™ redirects air conditioning refrigerant to chill the charger air cooler ● After-Run Chiller runs the cooling fan and the low-temperature circuit coolant pump after engine

shutdown ● TransBrake locks the output shaft of the TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic transmission to hold

the car before launch, allowing the driver to increase engine rpm for higher torque and quicker response

Demon’s massively wide 315/40R18 tires ● Front passenger seat and rear seat deleted to reduce weight (can be optioned back for $1 each)

Production of the limited-edition single model year Challenger SRT Demon was capped at 3,000 vehicles for the United States and 300 vehicles for Canada. The heart of the 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon was the supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI Demon V-8, rated at 840 horsepower and 770 lb.-ft. of torque. While the Demon V-8 shared its architecture with the 707-hp 6.2-liter supercharged HEMI Hellcat V-8, it is not simply a Hellcat engine with more boost. The Demon V-8 engine has 25 major component upgrades from the Hellcat engine, including supercharger, pistons, rods, valve train and fuel injection system. Among the changes, compared with the Hellcat V-8, the Demon’s supercharged V-8 featured:

● Larger supercharger: 2.7 liters versus 2.4 liters ● Increased boost pressure: 14.5 psi versus 11.6 psi ● Higher rpm limit: 6,500 rpm versus 6,200 rpm ● Fuel: Two dual-stage fuel pumps versus one ● Larger induction air box with three sources of intake air: Air-Grabber™ hood, driver-side Air-

Catcher™ headlamp and an inlet near the wheel liner

The SRT Demon’s Air-Grabber™ hood included the largest functional hood scoop (45.2 square inches) of any production car. The Air-Grabber™ hood is sealed to the air box, which is also fed from the driver-side Air-Catcher™ headlamp and an inlet near the wheel liner. Combined, those sources give the Demon V-8 an air-flow rate of 1,150 cubic feet per minute, 18 percent greater than the Hellcat V-8 and the largest air induction volume of any production car.

Page 21: 2020 Dodge Challenger / Challenger SRT TIMELINE Dodge … · 6.1-liter HEMI V-8 offered a six-speed manual transmission, in addition to the proven five-speed automatic with AutoStick

The additional air inlets help reduce the temperature of the intake air by more than 30 degrees Fahrenheit compared with the Hellcat V-8, which improves overall throttle response. The Demon’s innovative SRT Power Chiller™ was a production car first. It diverts the air-conditioning refrigerant from the SRT Demon’s interior to a chiller unit mounted by the low-temperature circuit coolant pump. Charge air coolant, after being cooled by ambient air passing through a low-temperature radiator at the front of the vehicle, flows through the chiller unit, where it is further cooled. The chilled coolant then flows to the heat exchangers in the supercharger. Every run down the drag strip generates plenty of heat. The After-Run Chiller, a factory-production car first, helps the SRT Demon get ready for the next run as quickly as possible. When the engine is shut down, the After-Run Chiller keeps the engine cooling fan and low-temperature circuit coolant pump running to lower the supercharger/charge air cooler temperature, helping the Challenger SRT Demon minimize heat soak effects. The driver can track the supercharger coolant temperature on the 8.4-inch Uconnect touchscreen in the instrument panel and know in real time when the supercharger is at the optimum temperature for another run. The Challenger SRT Demon is the first-ever, street-legal factory-production car designed to run on 100+ unleaded high-octane fuel. The keys to unleashing the SRT Demon’s full performance fury were in the Demon Crate: Direct Connection Performance Parts include a new powertrain control module calibrated for the high-octane unleaded fuel and a new switch bank for the center stack that includes a high-octane button. Similar to the Challenger SRT Hellcat, the SRT Demon came with two key fobs. The black fob limits engine output to 500 horsepower. The red key fob unlocks the engine’s full output of 808 horsepower and 717 pounds-feet torque. With either key fob, the driver can activate Eco and Valet Modes. Eco Mode revises the transmission shift schedule to include second-gear starts. Valet Mode limits the engine to 4,000 rpm and reduces torque output. Every Dodge Challenger SRT Demon was equipped with the standard TorqueFlite 8HP90 eight-speed automatic transmission. Already a proven and robust gearbox used with the HEMI Hellcat V-8, the transmission gets some significant changes for duty in the Challenger SRT Demon. Internal changes included an upgraded torque converter that delivers an 18 percent increase in torque multiplication. Also, the stall speed is increased 11 percent and the lockup speed is increased.

The Challenger SRT Demon is the first-ever, factory-production car with TransBrake, which locks the transmission output shaft to hold the car in place before a standing start. This lets the driver increase engine speed up to 2,350 rpm without overpowering the brakes, resulting in quicker power delivery and up to 15 percent more torque at launch. TransBrake works in conjunction with another SRT Demon first-ever factory-production car feature, Torque Reserve, to deliver increased levels of power and torque at launch. Torque Reserve becomes active once engine speed passes 950 rpm. It does two things:

● Closes the bypass valve, “prefilling” the supercharger with boost ● Manages fuel flow to cylinders and manages spark advance or retard to balance engine rpm

and torque With TransBrake and Torque Reserve active, the SRT Demon has more than 8 psi of boost at launch and up to 120 percent more engine torque than without Torque Reserve. TransBrake also preloads the driveline with torque, leading to full engine torque delivery at the rear wheels 150 milliseconds after the shift paddle is released. That results in faster acceleration at launch, faster 60-foot times and an improvement of more than a tenth of a second in quarter-mile times, which can be an entire car length. Driveline components have been upgraded to get all that power and torque to the rear wheels, on every run. Changes include:

● Upgraded prop shaft with a 15 percent increase in torque capacity. The prop shaft uses high-strength steel. Shaft tube thickness increases by 20 percent and the stub shafts are heat treated for enhanced durability

● The rear differential housing has 30 percent more torque capacity. Housing made from heat-treated A383 aluminum alloy. New material for the gear set has higher fatigue strength, with a deeper case hardening depth and two-step shot-peening manufacturing process to increase compressive residual stress

● The rear half shafts are larger in diameter; use a high-strength, low-alloy steel; and have 41 splines (up from 38), delivering a 20 percent increase in torque capacity. Eight-ball joints handle more torque, while reducing operating temperatures by more than 86 degrees Fahrenheit

In a first for a factory-production car, the SRT Demon’s Launch Assist uses the wheel speed sensors to watch for signs that the tires are slipping/sticking. If slip is detected, the SRT Demon’s control module momentarily reduces engine torque to maximize traction almost instantly – without the driver having to lift. Launch Assist reduces loads in the driveline from wheel hop by more than 15-20 percent, dramatically reducing component damage.

The Challenger SRT Demon was equipped from the factory with a set of four standard Nitto NT05R street-legal, drag-race tires, a first for a factory-production car. The 315/40R18 tires were specifically designed and developed exclusively for the SRT Demon, with a new compound and specific tire sidewall construction. The drag radials gave the SRT Demon a 15-percent larger tire contact patch and more than twice the grip of the Challenger SRT Hellcat. The sticky drag tires are mounted on lightweight 11-inch-by-18-inch wheels, with each tire measuring 12.6 inches wide. Putting full-size tires at all four corners gives drag racers an extra set of rear tires when the front tires are replaced with narrow front-runners at the track. SRT Performance Pages and Drive Modes, displayed on the SRT Demon’s Uconnect 8.4-inch touchscreen armed the driver with real-time data, including a graphic display of engine horsepower and torque with gear changes plotted; supercharger coolant temperature; timers for reaction time, 0-60 miles per hour (mph), 0-100 mph, eighth-mile and quarter-mile elapsed time and vehicle speed; instantaneous and peak longitudinal and lateral g-forces; and gauge readouts for engine oil temperature and pressure, coolant temperature, transmission fluid temperature, intake air temperature, air-fuel ratio; intercooler coolant temperature, boost pressure and battery voltage. The Drive Modes include the Challenger SRT Demon-exclusive Drag Mode. Drive Mode settings include Auto (Street) Mode, which sets the Bilstein Adaptive Damping Suspension (ADS) for comfortable ride with compliant handling, and Custom Mode, which lets the driver select between Auto and Drag Mode configurations for the transmission, paddle shifters, traction, suspension and steering. The 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon was available 15 exterior colors: B5 Blue, Billet Silver, Destroyer Grey, F8 Green, Go Mango, Granite Crystal, Indigo Blue, Maximum Steel, Octane Red, Pitch Black, Plum Crazy, Redline, TorRed, White Knuckle and Yellow Jacket. The new Challenger SRT Hellcat Widebody model featured the same fender flares first shown on the Challenger SRT Demon. These wider fender flares add 3.5 inches to the SRT Hellcat’s overall width, covering the new 20 x 11-inch “Devil’s Rim” split-five spoke aluminum wheels, which ride on new, wider 305/35ZR20 Pirelli P-Zero tires with a new tread pattern. A new electric power steering (EPS) system with SRT Drive Modes added new selectable steering tuning for the first time on a Hellcat model. In addition to its wider, more menacing stance, this new Challenger SRT Hellcat Widebody delivers improved lap times, lateral grip, acceleration and braking, compared with the already ferocious performance numbers of the Hellcat:

● Road course lap time on a 1.7-mile track lowered by approximately 2 seconds per lap, approximately 13 car lengths after one lap

● 1/4 mile elapsed time (ET) improved by approximately .3 sec (10.9 ET in Widebody vs. 11.2 ET in standard Hellcat)

● Lateral skid pad grip increased by .04 g (.97 g in Widebody vs. .93 g in standard Hellcat)

● 0-60 mph acceleration improved by .1 second (3.4 in Widebody vs. 3.5 in standard Hellcat)

The 2018 Challenger SRT Hellcat Widebody featured a new standard electric power steering (EPS) system – a first for Hellcat -- with selectable settings for Street (Auto), Sport and Track. The new EPS system was designed to improve handling performance, steering feel and ease of turning efforts at parking lot speeds. With EPS and SRT Drive Modes, drivers could tailor their experience by controlling horsepower, transmission shift speeds, steering, paddle shifters (automatic transmission only), traction and suspension. There is also a Custom setting lets the driver use individual preferences. With the new Widebody fender flares added 3.5 inches to the overall width of the Challenger Hellcat, the Widebody model joins the Challenger SRT Demon among the widest Challengers ever offered. The new flares were expertly integrated into the body design with concealed attachments to amplify the Challenger SRT Hellcat’s menacing stance, while making room for the new 20 x 11-inch “Devil’s Rim” split-five spoke aluminum wheels that ride on 305/35ZR20 Pirelli tires for improved performance while filling the wheel wells for a stronger planted appearance. The front side marker lights are styled to flow with the shape of the fender flares. The 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Widebody was powered by the 6.2-liter supercharged HEMI V-8 with 707 horsepower and 650 lb.-ft. torque and can be paired to either the Tremec six-speed manual or TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic transmission. The proven Hellcat HEMI engine featured additional cooling measures including a low-temperature circuit with two air/coolant heat exchangers integrated into the supercharger housing. This setup is designed to keep air temperatures below 140 degrees Fahrenheit, under extreme ambient conditions, while enabling air flow of up to 30,000 liters per minute. So effective was this feature that engine power will not be de-rated due to cooling demands after 20 minutes of hard driving on a road course at an ambient temperature of 100 degrees Fahrenheit. Before the new SRT Demon V-8 engine was introduced, the supercharged Hellcat HEMI V-8 was the most powerful passenger-car engine ever produced by FCA US, which made the Challenger SRT Hellcat and Charger SRT Hellcat models the most powerful and fastest coupe and sedan ever. The new engine was also named to Ward’s 10 Best Engines list for 2015.

The 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Widebody was available in 15 exterior colors: B5 Blue, Billet Silver, Destroyer Grey, F8 Green, Go Mango, Granite Crystal, IndiGo Blue, Maximum Steel, Octane Red, Pitch Black, Plum Crazy, Redline Tri-Coat, TorRed, White Knuckle and Yellow Jacket. Also new for 2018, the Shakedown Package was available on Challenger R/T Shaker, R/T Plus Shaker and 392 HEMI Scat Pack Shaker, adding a new Alpine audio system, white-face gauges on the instrument cluster and unique asymmetrical black racing exterior stripes – inspired by the 1971 Dodge Shakedown Challenger concept first shown at the 2016 SEMA show. Challenger had its best year ever last year in 2018. 2019 Dodge continued to push the performance envelope in 2019, using its high-performance engine street credibility to elevate its entire Challenger lineup, introducing the most powerful supercharged SRT Hellcat lineup ever with horsepower output now starting at 717. Following a record-setting year with the introduction of the limited-production Dodge Challenger SRT Demon – the quickest, fastest and most powerful muscle car ever – Dodge//SRT went back to its muscle car roots by taking its biggest, most powerful engine – the supercharged HEMI Demon V-8 – and leveraging its enormous power output to boost the performance of the Hellcat. The result: the 797-horsepower 2019 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye. Also new for 2019, Dodge offered the Widebody Package on the Challenger R/T Scat Pack model, which added 3.5 inches to the overall width, improving handling and braking to the naturally aspirated muscle car. At the track, larger six-piston Brembo front brakes, wider wheels and tires, and suspension upgrades featured on the R/T Scat Pack Widebody equate to 2-second faster lap times or approximately 12 car lengths at a 2.1-mile road course, compared with the non-Widebody Challenger R/T Scat Pack. Designed and engineered with more power to appeal to an even broader muscle car enthusiast audience, the heart of the new 2019 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye comes from its limited-production big brother – the Dodge Challenger SRT Demon. The supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI high-output V-8 engine is rated at 797 horsepower and 707 lb.-ft. of torque and is mated to a TorqueFlite 8HP90 eight-speed automatic transmission.

Like its Demon brethren, it has 25 major component upgrades, including a larger supercharger, strengthened connecting rods and pistons, high-speed valve train, fuel injection system and improved lubrication system. Compared with the standard SRT Hellcat engine, the Redeye’s supercharged high-output engine features:

● Largest factory supercharger of any production car – 2.7 liters versus 2.4 liters ● Increased boost pressure: 14.5 psi versus 11.6 psi ● Higher rpm limit: 6,500 rpm versus 6,200 rpm ● Fuel: Two dual-stage fuel pumps versus one ● At full throttle, the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye’s high-output engine consumes

1.43 gal/min (5.4 liters/min) of fuel – enough to drain the fuel tank in just under 11 minutes, yet is still rated at 22 mpg when driven in normal highway conditions

● Larger induction air box with three sources of intake air: ● New dual-snorkel hood ● Driver-side Air Catcher headlamp ● Inlet near the wheel liner

Additional features from the SRT Demon that helped the Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye achieve its status as the most powerful, quickest and fastest muscle car:

● Torque Reserve delivers up to 3.9 psi of boost at launch and up to 55 percent more engine torque

● Only factory production car with both SRT Power Chiller™ and After-Run Chiller ● High-strength steel prop shafts provide a 15 percent increase in torque capacity ● 41-spline half shafts provide a 20 percent increase in torque capacity

New for 2019, SRT Hellcat Redeye offered two final drive ratios, a standard 2.62:1 or available 3.09:1 for enhanced launch capability. The 2019 Challenger SRT Hellcat lineup delivered improved performance numbers, including a new top speed of 203 mph making the Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye the most powerful, quickest and fastest muscle car. Available on Challenger SRT Hellcat and R/T Scat Pack models for 2019 is the Widebody Package first seen on the 2018 Challenger SRT Hellcat. Wider fender flares added 3.5 inches to the overall width of the vehicle resulting in a more muscular, planted stance. The new flares are expertly integrated into the body design with concealed attachments to amplify the Challenger SRT Hellcat’s width. The front side marker lights are styled to flow with the shape of the fender flares. All 2019 Challenger SRT Hellcat models were loaded with standard performance features, including:

● Adaptive Damping Suspension — SRT-tuned Bilstein three-mode Adaptive Damping Suspension system includes: Auto Mode = sporty but compliant ride; Sport Mode = firm, maximum handling; Track Mode = firm, maximum handling plus performance shifting and gear-holding feature

● Braking system — braking power came from the standard Brembo brake system with two-piece, 15.4-inch front rotors and six-piston front calipers for outstanding heat management, thermal capacity and longevity

● Electric power steering (EPS) — electric power steering delivered better steering feel and ease of turning efforts at parking lot speeds. It can be calibrated to optimize steering effort for a variety of driving situations via settings in the SRT Performance Pages

● Launch Assist — launched on the Challenger SRT Demon as a factory-production car first, Launch Assist helped resolve one of the biggest challenges to clean launches and driveline integrity – wheel hop, which happens when tires quickly slip and regain traction at launch, rapidly storing up and releasing energy in the driveline. These high torque spikes can quickly and severely damage driveline components, and up until now, the only solution was to back out of the throttle. The 2019 Challenger SRT Hellcat models use the wheel speed sensors to watch for signs that the tires are slipping/sticking. If hop is detected, the engine control module momentarily reduces torque to maximize traction almost instantly – without the driver having to lift the throttle. Launch Assist reduces loads in the driveline from wheel hop by up to 20 percent

● Torque Reserve — became active once the engine speed passes 950 rpm. The system closes the bypass valve, “prefilling” the intake with boost, manages fuel flow to cylinders and manages spark timing to balance engine rpm and torque

Page 29: 2020 Dodge Challenger / Challenger SRT TIMELINE Dodge … · 6.1-liter HEMI V-8 offered a six-speed manual transmission, in addition to the proven five-speed automatic with AutoStick

● Launch Control — held the engine at optimal launch RPM and waits for the driver to release the brake. Launch Control then uses engine torque management to optimize wheel slip for maximum acceleration. All 2019 Challenger models with Launch Control receive an improved system that increases hold time from five to 10 seconds for optimal launch and consistent straight-line acceleration

● Line Lock — engaged the front brakes to hold the Challenger stationary but leaves the rear wheels free for a burnout to heat up and clean the rear tires. The system will also let the driver perform a controlled rolling burnout and can engage for up to 200 rear wheel revolutions

● Larger induction air box — with three sources of intake air: new dual-snorkel hood, driver-side Air Catcher headlamp and inlet near the wheel liner

● SRT Drive Modes — accessed via the 8.4-inch Uconnect touchscreen, drivers could tailor their experience by adjusting horsepower, transmission shift speeds, steering effort, paddle shifters, traction and suspension settings. SRT Drive Modes offer selectable settings for Street (Auto), Sport and Track. There was also a Custom setting for the driver to select individual preferences

● SRT Performance Pages — brought critical vehicle performance data to the driver’s fingertips, including a real-time dyno graph, g-force heat map and much more

● Also available on Challenger SRT Hellcat and R/T Scat Pack is the Rear Seat Delete Group, which allowed customers to delete the rear seats, rear seat belts and add a rear cargo net.

The Dodge Challenger R/T Scat Pack continued to offer the most muscle for the dollar in the segment with 485 horsepower and a starting U.S. Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) less than $40,000. Power comes from the proven, naturally aspirated, 392-cubic-inch HEMI V-8 engine’s best-in-class 485 horsepower and 475 lb.-ft. of torque. New for 2019, all Challenger R/T Scat Pack models received a new look, courtesy of the 2018 Challenger SRT Hellcat. The power-bulge aluminum hood featured a dedicated air intake flanked by dual-air extractors to ensure effective removal of heat and reduced front lift. Standard illuminated Air Catcher headlamps fed additional air directly into the engine bay. Also new for 2019, R/T Scat Pack buyers could leverage the on-track performance capabilities of the SRT Hellcat Widebody. Featuring the same fender flares from SRT Hellcat Widebody, which added 3.5 inches to the overall width, the new R/T Scat Pack Widebody rides on sticky 305/35ZR20 Pirelli tires mounted to 20-inch-by-11-inch forged “Devil’s Rim” aluminum wheels. Named for the quarter-mile distance (1,320 feet), the Challenger R/T Scat Pack 1320 was powered by the 392 HEMI V-8 that delivers 485 horsepower and 475 lb.-ft. of torque and is mated to the quick-

A half-century later, Dodge Challenger still leads the pack with the most powerful muscle car powertrains in the industry—ranging from the Pentastar V-6 engine to the fastest most powerful muscle car, the 797-horsepower Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye. Dodge is offering the limited-production 50th Anniversary Edition on Challenger GT RWD, R/T Shaker, R/T Scat Pack Shaker and R/T Scat Pack Shaker Widebody models. The already heavily equipped Challenger SRT Hellcat and SRT Hellcat Redeye models will feature a 50th Anniversary grille badge for the 2020 model year as standard equipment. With its heritage design, unmatched power and everyday livability, the Challenger is a true GT car and every bit as beloved and relevant to today’s consumer as the first generation was 50 years ago. To celebrate Challenger’s colorful history, the Dodge Challenger 50th Anniversary Edition sticks to its roots, focusing on the details big and small, that have made Challenger what it is today: high-impact paint (HIP) exterior colors, Shaker hood scoop, hot wheels and custom touches on the inside—all designed to give Dodge enthusiasts another way to display legendary Dodge performance attitude. A body-color Shaker hood scoop is standard on all HEMI V-8 engine powered R/T, R/T Scat Pack and R/T Scat Pack Widebody models for the 50th Anniversary Edition. This is the first time the Shaker hood scoop is featured on a Challenger Widebody model. As the name suggests, the legendary cold-air grabbing Shaker extends from the engine compartment, directing cooler air back into the 5.7-liter or 392 HEMI V-8 engine. Like the original 1970 Challenger R/T with the Shaker hood, the 50th Anniversary Edition continues the Dodge tradition of an engine-mounted hood scoop that “shakes” with the movement of the powertrain. The functional Shaker hood comes with a Mopar cold-air intake, conical air filter and optimized air box for improved airflow and performance. Lift the hood and enthusiasts will also be treated to a “SHAKER” underhood decal—reminiscent of the original 1970 Challenger. Illuminated Air Catcher headlamps feature 50th Anniversary Edition LED-illuminated “50” logos. Each 50th Anniversary Edition will have a custom-look, straight from the factory with a standard Satin Black hand-painted hood and black-wrapped roof and decklid. Challenger 50th Anniversary logo badges appear on the grille and in new “Gold School” finish. Fender badges are also finished in “Gold School”. The standard Satin Black fuel-filler door with heritage “FUEL” lettering adds a touch of nostalgia.
