Loaves & Fishes’ mission is to provide nutritious food, in an atmosphere of kindness and respect, to individuals in
need who reside in Ayer, Devens,
Dunstable, Groton, Harvard,
Littleton and Shirley.
Our Leadership Team Page 2
The past year has been a very difficult one with many unfortunate things happening in our world. There is much to be sad, anxious and angry about, however, there are also many reasons to be grateful. Sometimes difficult times bring out the best in all of us and that is exactly what we have witnessed at Loaves & Fishes!
When the Pandemic hit, we converted the Pantry to a no-touch, drive-thru operation! The staff and volunteers were flexible and understanding as we worked through challenges. Donors were extraordinarily generous and our community rallied to support our neighbors who were struggling to make ends meet.
In the past year, over 804 local families, over 2,000 individuals, received food, support and hope thanks to our caring community. Some were earning minimum wage and trying to stretch their hard-earned dollars to pay their mounting bills. Others lost their jobs and were in danger of losing their homes. Some were seniors struggling to survive on a fixed income, and others, like Joe, had health challenges. Joe visited us recently, with his oxygen tank in hand. His health is deteriorating quickly and he knows his time is short. He simply wanted to say goodbye and thank you.
Thank you from Joe. Thank you from all of our clients. They still need us….
With sincere gratitude,

“I’ve always been a hard worker and never pictured myself going to a food pantry, but rent, utility bills and insurance have all increased so much and money for groceries has been limited. I’ve been doing the best I can but we eat a lot of noodles, soup and peanut butter sandwiches. When my son David told me he was hungry, it broke my heart. I saw a brochure about the Pantry at the grocery store and knew what I needed to do. I am so thankful for Loaves & Fishes, they’ve given me food and hope!”
Sincerely, Daniel
EVERY COUNTS! Thanks to our Coin Canister Collection hosts throughout the region,
Loaves & Fishes received over $5,300 in donations last year!

“The shelves in our kitchen were getting bare and the money to buy food was limited. Both my husband and I are retired but so much money is spent on medical bills and just trying to get by every month. We received your newsletter and decided to attend your drive-thru service. We were overwhelmed with the food that we received - fresh produce, eggs, cheese, meats and some fresh bakery goods! We were in tears as we sat down for our first meal with the food that we received from the Pantry. We appreciate all of you - thank you for making our lives better and healthier!”

“I never thought this would happen to me, but it did! Due to the COVID-19 crisis, I was laid off from my job at a local restaurant. I’ve been struggling to pay my bills and have been surviving on peanut butter sandwiches and cereal. I learned about Loaves & Fishes from a post I saw on Facebook and managed to find the courage to visit. My sincere thanks to all the volunteers and donors—you’ve given me hope.” -Brenda, a client

Words from a new client…
“Thank you so much - it’s been hard losing my job and being unemployed during the pandemic. I heard about Loaves & Fishes from a friend of mine who visited the Pantry a couple years ago when she was struggling. She encouraged me to visit and so I did. I’m just happy to have a refrigerator full of food!” -Eric, a client
