Call to Worship
Oh give thanks to the LORD; call upon his name; make
known his deeds among the peoples!
Sing to him, sing praises to him; tell of all his wondrous
works!
Glory in his holy name; let the hearts of those who seek
the LORD rejoice!
Seek the LORD and his strength; seek his presence
continually!
that they might keep his statute and observe his laws.
Praise the LORD!

Hymn of Adoration
Glory to the Lamb (HOP210)
Glory, glory, glory to the Lamb;
Glory, glory, glory to the Lamb.
For He is glorious and worthy to be praised,
The Lamb upon the throne; and unto Him
We lift our voice in praise,
The Lamb upon the throne.
Holy, Holy, Holy (HOP4)
1. Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord God Almighty!
Early in the morning our song shall rise to Thee;
Holy, Holy, Holy! Merciful and Mighty!
God in Three Persons, blessed Trinity!
2. Holy, Holy, Holy! All the saints adore Thee, casting
Down their golden crowns around the glassy sea;
Cherubim and seraphim falling down before Thee,
Which wert, and art, and evermore shalt be.
3. Holy, Holy, Holy! Tho the darkness hide Thee,
Tho the eye of sinful man Thy glory may not see;
Only Thou art holy; there is none beside Thee,
Perfect in power, in love and purity.
4. Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord God Almighty!
All Thy works shall praise
Thy name in earth and sky and sea;
Holy, Holy, Holy! Merciful and Mighty!
God in Three Persons, blessed Trinity!

Scripture Reading – Matthew 14:22-33
22 Immediately he made the disciples get into the boat and
go before him to the other side, while he dismissed the
crowds.
23 And after he had dismissed the crowds, he went up on the
mountain by himself to pray. When evening came, he was
there alone,
24 but the boat by this time was a long way from the land,
beaten by the waves, for the wind was against them.
25 And in the fourth watch of the night he came to them,
walking on the sea.
26 But when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they
were terrified, and said, “It is a ghost!” and they cried out
in fear.
27 But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, “Take heart;
it is I. Do not be afraid.”
28 And Peter answered him, “Lord, if it is you, command me
to come to you on the water.”
29 He said, “Come.” So Peter got out of the boat and walked
on the water and came to Jesus.
30 But when he saw the wind, he was afraid, and beginning
to sink he cried out, “Lord, save me.”
31 Jesus immediately reached out his hand and took hold of
him, saying to him, “O you of little faith, why did you
doubt?”
32 And when they got into the boat, the wind ceased.
33 And those in the boat worshiped him, saying, “Truly you
are the Son of God.”

From Fear to Faith
( Matthew 14:22-33)
16-08-2020 ( )
Sermon Outline Speaker: Rev. Dr. Edwin Tay
Introduction
As followers of Christ, we want to be trusting in the Lord and
composed in times of crisis and difficulties. However, the reality of
our experiences in life is more akin to what is recorded in the
passage - a mixture of fear and faith. The sermon explores the
dynamics of the movement from fear to faith for Christian
discipleship.

Conclusion :
Often we will find ourselves straining at the oars in the storms of
life. But we are not alone. Christ is with us in the storm. Let us fix
our eyes on Jesus, the Ruler of the waves and the winds, and
trust him to bring us to our appointed destination.

Responsive Hymn
Be Strong in the Lord (CP 418)
1. Be strong in the Lord, and be of good courage;
Your mighty Defender is always the same.
Mount up with wings, as the eagle ascending;
Victory is sure when you call on His name.
(Refrain)
Be strong, be strong, be strong in the Lord,
And be of good courage for He is your guide.
Be strong, be strong, be strong in the Lord,
And rejoice for the victory is yours.
2. So put on the armour the Lord has provided,
And place your defense in His unfailing care.
Trust Him for He will be with you in battle,
Lighting your path to avoid every snare.
3. Be strong in the Lord, and be of good courage;
Your mighty Commander will vanquish the foe.
Fear not the battle, for the victory is always His;
He will protect your wherever you go.

9.COVID-19: Phase 2 Reopening The Singapore Government announced on 15 June that we will be entering Phase 2 reopening on 19 June. Although the community spread of the virus is under control, there is always the potential for the virus to resurface.
We should continue to do our part to ensure the health and safety of ourselves and those around us.
Therefore, everyone should continue to maintain a high level of self-discipline and take the necessary precautions: avoid gathering in groups (social gatherings should not exceed 5 in number), maintain 1m social distancing, scan the SafeEntry QR code when you enter and leave the premises, download the TraceTogether app, always wear a mask and monitor your temperature etc.

The Singapore Government announced on 15 June 2020 that we will be entering Phase 2 reopening on 19 June 2020.

Our church will also continue to hold our weekly prayer meetings virtually, every Tuesday at 8pm via a WhatsApp broadcast group, lasting about 30mins. This will allow each of us to join in and pray together in our respective homes. We hope to have more prayer warriors join us!
Rev Andy Tan (the in-charge of our church’s prayer meetings) will be sending out the WhatsApp invite link, and we encourage all members to join this group and partake in the church’s prayer ministry!
We ask everyone to continue to keep our church in your prayers, that He will continue to guide, lead and bless us!
