HonorsHumanities(HH)isanhonorscoursedesignedtocoverthecontentsofsophomoretheology,English,andAmericanhistoryinanintegratedmanner.Theclassconsistsofathree-hourblockwithadifferentteachereachhour.Theclasswillbecomposedofapproximatelytwenty-fivestudentsselectedbyafacultycommittee.InHH10thestudentswillincreasetheirknowledgeandunderstandingofreligionandtheCatholicChurchinAmerica,Americanliterature,andAmericanhistory.ThestudentsinHH10willbeexpectedtoreadclassicworksofAmericanliterature,towriteclearlyandcorrectly,toexercisecriticalthinkingskills,andtofunctionashighlymotivated,independentlearners.Thiscourseisthesecondinatwo-yearsequence.

FirstSemesterFOCUS:SacramentsasPrivilegedEncounterswithJesusChristThepurposeofthiscourseistohelpstudentsunderstandthattheycanencounterChristtodayinafullandrealwayinandthroughthesacraments,andespeciallythroughtheEucharist.StudentswillexamineeachofthesacramentsindetailsoastolearnhowtheymayencounterChristthroughoutlife.SecondSemesterFOCUS:LifeinJesusChrist(Morality)ThepurposeofthiscourseistohelpstudentsunderstandthatthroughChristtheycanfullyliveoutGod’splansfortheirlives.StudentswilllearnthemoralconceptsandpreceptsthatgovernthelivesofChrist’sdisciples.
