Our purpose is to change lives by enabling economic independence.

MESSAGE FROM THE CEO

An avenue to promote Black businesses’ products and services, the Black Business Directory is a long withstanding tradition of the Black Business Initiative. This year’s directory, 2020-2021, reaches the 22 year mark.

The Black Business Directory serves as a resource guide to entrepreneurs, business-owners, and the community by providing a package of information on Black-owned businesses, entrepreneurial support agencies, organizations in the public sector, etc. The listings could be potential connections to new opportunities and resources; including new information, additional customers, an expanded network, and perhaps opportunities for effective participation in lucrative supply chains.

Throughout the year, we have been speaking to the theme “Shifting Tides: Creating Businesses without Boundaries” in recognition of the rapidly changing economic

ecosystem. The nature of conducting business is ever changing. In the 4th Industrial Revolution, we must ride the wave of innovation to continue to define and redefine how we, as business owners and business supporters, think and practice. In this new digital age, technology is at the forefront; businesses can leverage communications and business without borders, diversified markets, access to different talent pools, and new revenue potential.

BBI continues to grow our strategic partners in the private and public sector to promote the work that our organization and our clients are undertaking. The desired result is an inclusive mainstream business economy that creates a level playing field for African Nova-Scotian entrepreneurs.

As a champion for the Black business community, BBI strives to enhance how we deliver our programming to provide tools for businesses to effectively compete in the 4th industrial revolution.
