McHenry County Health Department School Metrics

Schools are advised to first transition to hybrid learning from virtual learning before transitioning to full in-person learning

Schools are advised to be in the previous phase for at least fourteen days before transitioning to the next.

Schools are advised to meet all four measures before transitioning to the next phase.

Schools are advised to transition to the previous learning phase if any two measures meet the threshold criteria for the previous phase

MCDH will advise on potential mitigation strategies if any one measure meets the threshold criteria for the previous phase

MCDH will work closely with schools to monitor absenteeism, disease activity, and other indicators to inform the transition between learning models.

Procedure Symptoms

COVID-19 symptoms may appear 2-14 days after exposure to the virus.

If students or staff describe or display any of the symptoms below, staff should call the Health Office to refer the student for further assessment.

People with symptoms may have COVID-19 and will be isolated and sent home with a recommendation to see their health care provider

Headache (not due to a chronic condition)

Transitioning to AB Hybrid Model

Fully remote learning will continue through October 14th.

Some teacher assignments will need to be changed to meet the needs of both a fully remote program and an AB hybrid program. A student’s teacher may change.

Some remote learning classes may need to be combined with students from another school.

One additional Blended Learning Planning Day will be added to the calendar on October 15th (No School).

Teacher Institute Day on October 9th will be moved to October 16th (No School).

AB Hybrid/Remote Learning will begin on Monday, October 19th.

Current Expenses:

$100,000 for remote instruction expenses (CARE )

$33,000 PPE and Sanitation Supplies (FEMA)

$100,000 for additional remote instruction expenses (CARE)

Ongoing PPE/Sanitation costs to be approximately $2,500 to $3,000 per month for the AB instructional model

Next Steps

Continue to monitor changes in state and local guidelines.

Send out Parent Commitment Form Tuesday, September 29th.

Complete AB daily schedule for the district calendar and distribute.

Complete A/B groupings for each school and notify parents by October 9th.

Determine staffing for the full remote learning program and hybrid program.

Continue to prepare schools for social distancing.

Finalize daily master schedules for each school.

Provide training for all employee groups regarding expectations for AB Hybrid Model.

Ensure all PPE and cleaning supplies have been ordered and delivered.

Recommendation

The District 26 Administration is recommending to the Board of Education the approval of it revised Return to School Plan that includes two options for parents: (1) Hybrid A/B Model and (2) Fully Remote Learning Option.
